Oliver at Adelaide without Burgess pushing him to his 2021 fitness levels makes me lol! Good luck with that Crom!

If I was a betting woman, I reckon Clarry ends up at Sydney or he stays put.

Sydney with Goody and away from the fishbowl of the media would work best for him.

I know most fans donโ€™t care what happens to players once they leave, but I care deeply that whatever move Clarry makes, supports his overall wellbeing. Itโ€™s more important than footy.

Wow he speaks well and is very direct

So we haven't told Clarry to leave, we've told him to get with the program or else. Hopefully after cooling down on holidays he does just that. I don't mind Clarry as a part time fwd either, solid mark.

Clearly we want Trac to stay

Love your positivity but theyโ€™re gone

I read what the MFC put out & Iโ€™m happy with the explanation. Very fair & honest. Itโ€™s not as โ€œsexyโ€ as what all the media outlets are reporting but Iโ€™ll take the Clubโ€™s explanation. He has had his role explained but also has the option of playing his old role somewhere else ..

Well he claims to be a Bagger but I don't know many Carlton supporters who would shout him a beer ๐Ÿ˜ Some rumours existed that he was leak source when he worked briefly at Princes Park some years back. Not sure if true or not but he certainly is eager to crack a headline ... that may or may not accord with reality ...

He is absolutely a Carlton supporter . I vividly remember pre 2024 season on an Age podcast stating he didnโ€™t think anyone could stop Curnow & McKay. Maybe Lever & May he said but was convinced the premiership was Carltonโ€™s for the taking, He gets stuck into Melb because it deflects from Carlton. Whatโ€™s going on there at the moment is way worse than Melb (& Iโ€™m happy with whatโ€™s going on but very disappointed with Judd). DeKoning gone ..Silvagni & Curnow wants to go. Heโ€™s a grub !

All great in theory, until we lose another 10,000 members who were told by the club for 3 years running that we should be playing finals.

The vision and the execution are diametrically opposed.

If the club wants to rebuild Iโ€™m all in, but donโ€™t p!$$ on my back and tell me itโ€™s raining when you lose 2 of your prime mids, a premiership defender and a promising small defender and bring in Max Heath and 6 picks in a poor draft.

Look King might have aces up his sleeve. This could be his McRae moment. But unless heโ€™s bringing in Naicos 2.0, I canโ€™t see how we go forward without going backwards. Which again Iโ€™m fine with, but thatโ€™s not what we are being sold.

Rubbish

The club didnโ€™t say we would be playing finals for 3 years.

His ability to spread from contest to contest and to have that dog hunger to win a contested ground ball is something you could never teach. Truly a freak in how he could find a clean handball in heavy traffic.

Theory: AFL wants to keep promoting the game up north and they need a big name marketable player who craves the limelight and has a profile to do just that.

AFL tells Gold Coast to make the trade happen

Melbourne says we donโ€™t want to lose one of our marquee players without fair compensation and youโ€™ve ruined the draft with your academy

AFL says ok who you want? We say Humphrie

AFL calls Humphrieโ€™s manager and tells them Melbourne has a briefcase full of unmarked bills and a sponsorship deal with Penfolds for him that theyโ€™ll never look into

Deal done

And one of my favourite players because of it but those days are no longer. Iโ€™m still surprised weโ€™re shopping him again. Didnโ€™t we sort this stuff out over the last 2 years?

JVR is another who has said he hates it in the ruck which is fair but he really really needs to step up and prove to us that he is too good to be taken out of that forward line.

I heard he likes to ruck

King literally told me today that the expectations is finals and to rise up quickly.

And at every B&F and AGM and pre season interview since 2023 with players and coaches theyโ€™ve talked about playing finals.

Either you havenโ€™t been listening, or youโ€™re just ignoring them.

In fact the media all predicted we donโ€™t make the 8 this year. And they were right.

That's what Kingy was saying on SEN this morning about our forward entries. At the end of the day it comes back to to ball movement (which we have been bad at) and the way we put speed on the ball.

Putting speed on the ball doesnt mean a quick dump kick inside our front half.

The other things he mentioned was how they set up the ground and to take advantage of unpredictable entries.

Ie. Get the players in the right positions to receive the ball and suddenly the kicking options and margin for error both increase. Intercept defenders also get caught out by free flowing ball movement.

Gryan is the only brilliant kick in the cats mid/ half forward rotation. So they often use him for the tight space short precision kicks.

Holmes, Smith, Mannagh, Close couldnโ€™t hit the side of a barn under high pressure, but what they can do is run like crazy and kick low and fast to space with forwards hitting the drop of the ball.

Don't think it's that complex. Hardwick is looking at the age profile of his team and knows he needs more senior players. To get one who could also play the Dustin Martin role in his new team makes complete sense. They have so much young talent around that they know they will have to lose a bit of it here or there.

The only thing that will make the suns more marketable is competing for flags.

Oh I forgot to mention As nobody else has. Clarrys was still carrying an MFC bag on the way to Sydney.

You can't build a team on potential stars alone. Cannot leave it to Max and Viney. We must keep one of Petracca or Oliver if not both. Tholstrup, Turner,

Howes and Adams are not of the standard required for a successful rebuild. They may show promise but is that enough?

A rebuild is โ€œbuildingโ€. You donโ€™t keep ageing stars in a rebuild. Have a look at hawthorn and Richmond. We have max we have lever we have Viney we have melksham, there is also a few guys in the 25-28 yo bracket on the list to help develop the young guys.

Potentially Flanders and miochek to come in too

He played well no doubt. In the past when he played well he got 7-10 coaches votes and 1-3 Brownlow votes. How many votes did he get in that โ€œback to his bestโ€ game? Heโ€™s a $500k midfielder on $1.4mill.

If people think Oliver's last few games were anywhere near his best they have forgotten just how dominant he was at his peak.

after taking much of the evening to digest it all, it's pretty comforting to hear from King. The media can get stuffed. They've dined out on our poor culture for 3 years. The stories related to Oliver, May and to a lesser extent Tracc. Now we have exited (potentially) all three and people are saying "what are they doing". We will be compensated and i back us to make something of the picks. It's sad and hard to take, because they are the drought breaking era Demons, but it's ultimately what is best for business. I am guessing the close relationship Goodie had with these blokes led to a lot of our issues. We know it did. Tracc derailled us. Clayton the same and May...well....thank god he was a great defender. But, it's time to move on. That era has finished. Teams can rise quickly, like Hawthorn, and we still have some great high-end draft talent. Pickett will have way more midfield time. Langford is a beauty. Windsor could be a star. Disco as a key defender. Petty backline. TMac and Lever leading the backline. Viney being a professional and mentoring kids like Langford and Lindsay. The rise of Koltyn Tholstrup once he learns to take his opportunities on goal. Chandler to play more freely. Fritta and Checkers being hit up on the lead by Windsor, Rivers, Lindsay or Langford. The King era has begun.

Edit: Hopefully we have Flanders as part of the Tracc deal too

I mean I thought I made it pretty clear that I was being facetious with the whole unmarked bills and Penfolds deal ๐Ÿ˜‚

I just hope some of our players who have had arrested development blossom under the new coach. It kind of feels that way for most of our recruits since 2021. Fingers crossed and hope we are not grasping at straws. I believe itโ€™s kind of official that Tracc and Clarry are now officially lost causes. Such a waste. Far Kew to them.

The premiership defender has shown signs of wear and tear due to age, and his 2025 season was inconsistent, ending poorly with a suspension and a noticeable decline in performance. The Demons are eager to integrate younger players onto their list and have indicated that they may not be able to guarantee him senior games next season, in what would be the final year of his contract.

The young key tall failed to make progress during the season, with a decline in his goal kicking output. His secondary role as a backup ruckman, which may have hindered his ability to further develop his game, and he was also impacted by the team's poor forward connection. It will be interesting to observe his performance under a new coaching regime.

Following an injury-interrupted start to the season, McVee struggled to maintain the standard he established in 2025 as he pursued an expanded role within the team structure. He remained a firm fan favourite and the club had hoped to negotiate a new contract with the former rookie selection from Western Australia, whose partner, Lily Johnson, plays for Melbourne's AFLW side. Those hopes were dashed when he expressed his desire to return to his home state and play for Fremantle. Like all players who have worn the red and blue and are leaving this year, we wish him well in the future.
