Bingo, its to do with money as much as anything. Was never going to Adel imo, just needed a competitor to help with the bidding at GC

If he didn't ask Suns for the same thing then that just tells you Adelaide never appealed to him.

A player that had a history of concussion issues had to retire because of concussion issues thats the fact of the matter

sure Maynard is a thug s***bag however gus was only ever one concussion away from retirement so a 6 year contract was not smart at all. and so it proved.

No such thing as discrimination, is there?

Petracca was on 6 years when his " incident" occurred too.

So you agree. Long term contracts are a big risk.

Cornes on trade radio said Trac for pick 7 is perfectly fair.

In which parallel universe?

Come on. Be realistic about this at least lol

Not sure how unrealistic it is. Most value Trac at 2 first round picks.

Essentially

Flanders for 1 First

Humphrey for a first and an early second.

Depending on how much we rank next years draft we might even be keen to get out of that one as well and hand over another future pick if it means we can bring in both Humphrey and Flanders.

This trade is the biggest deal for the GC since Gaz Jnr, Trac coming will be huge for the entire club, not just on field but off, and that would certainly be taken into account. They simply need to make this trade happen and in my option will be paying overs to do so.

Probably Flanders? 😉

And one of my favourite players because of it but those days are no longer. I’m still surprised we’re shopping him again. Didn’t we sort this stuff out over the last 2 years?

We’re not shopping him. This is totally different. Besides, we (everyone except Pert) weren't shopping him last year either.

No, I reckon we have been pretty stiff that the two best players we had at the time were cut down, and of course they would be on decent terms, otherwise we would have media maggots at our doorstep non stop......Like now.

and it looks like pert was on the money - we should have moved him to the cats and got $1m off our cap last year for a (late) round 1 pick in a stronger draft

Unlucky, yes. Doesn't change that it was a known risk of giving out massive long term deals.

Should really have traded him to the Crows at the end of 2023 if we're doing hindsight.

Who was bringing it up then, then?

Well, I for one was certain that it would be Christian to the Lions; yet another prophecy scratched off the list!

Sounds like Flanders has picked the Saints.

Imagine a world where we traded Oliver to Cats for that pick and drafted Murphy Reidcreepy-drooling-man-jvvm0y8vcflgsu85.gif

Another captain to move clubs then. What has this league come to?! Such a steep decline in a once great sporting league. Can anyone genuinely say that AFL is superior now to any years gone by?

I think we should have a look at Jack Steele, especially with Trac and Oliver going out.

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.

  • AFLW REPORT: Brisbane

A steamy Springfield evening set the stage for a blockbuster top-four clash between two AFLW heavyweights. Brisbane, the bookies’ favourites, hosted Melbourne at a heaving Brighton Homes Arena, with 5,022 fans packing in—the biggest crowd for a Melbourne game this season. It was the 11th meeting between these fierce rivals, with the Dees holding a narrow 6–4 edge. But while the Lions brought the chaos and roared loudest, the Demons aren’t done yet.
