Would we consider Tracc to Carlton for pick 10 and they take on his whole salary?

we would but they wouldn't

Pick 10, plus their 2026 first, plus they take his entire contract on is the basis to begin negotiations. But if Trac wants a flag he'd be better off staying at Melbourne than going to Carlton

We’d be absolutely laughed out of the room with that proposal.

We were into Josh Rachele 18 months ago. That’s not a rumour.

Maybe we’d put him as a starting point for any trade? We also want draft collateral so it the deal would require some special sauce from a 3rd team… this is me making a rumour.

If Trac were to go it's almost one or the other in terms of market value return OR getting his whole salary off the books.

Can't have our cake and eat it too.

personally I’d pay part of his salary so as to extract the best player and or picks we can get. If Carlton take Tracc there list management team should be sacked.

Zero chance they're going to pay 2 top 10 picks and over a mill a year for a 30 year old with accuracy issues.

They aren't top 10 picks, Pick 10 will be pushed back well into the teens post the academy and compensation changes, and it's an especially thin draft anyway.

And if their aim is to play finals next years won't either.

if you were talking about 2 legitimate top 10 picks, you might have a point, but that's definitely what we'd be asking for regardless.

I’m ok with paying some of Tracs wages but a good top 10 pick( this year or next) has to be part of the deal. Suns hold the best hand with pick 6 which is on the trade table.

I’m not sure the Suns would be the best fit for him though but perhaps Hardwick wants a Dusty type player. I do see a him being a good fit at Carlton and it would probably the best fit for his brand too.

Adelaide and GWS make sense too I think.

I said it before, but Cal T. has recently said that Trac is worth 1 top 10 pick, in this year’s draft. No more.

Who's room? Carlton have been one of the dumbest traders for the last 30 years. Totally in their wheelhouse.

He's precisely the player we miss in our forward half and would be brilliant with faster ball movement.

X factor and goal sense. Tick. Cultural question marks though.

Reckon the ‘cultural’ question marks over Rachelle are way overblown

To me he’s in the same ballpark as Watson, Ginnivan, Papley etc

As long as they’re working hard and kicking goals I don’t mind if you’re having fun on the field

And from all reports he’s very close with a lot of his teammates, so can’t be that bad for team culture

I think those days might be over, mostly new people on the scene now ...

Anyone who has read my posts - and I really don't expect people to remember them – won't be surprised when I say, I really hate this site when people pour scorn or contempt on our players. Tracc has been an absolute star, we all know the reasons why he has been a little bit down this year, but he is still absolutely explosive and I would be very upset if he left. I expect Steven King would, too. And BTW, the same goes for Clarry.

So it’s been said…

If Cal Twomey is correct then let’s not trade him then, yeah?

He is worth more than that and we should keep him.

Glad that is settled.

Spot on. Too many are quick to forget just how much Trac (and Clarry) have already given us. Even a ‘down year’ from him still looks better than most players’ peak, and if King can get him firing again, we’re in business. I’ll back our stars over the cheap shots every time!

But I said he's worth 3 top 10 pix

and the evidence for that would be? carltank have had mostly new people on the scene now half a dozen times in the last 30 years. its going very well for them.

We should also remember and infact prioritise the team over any one player. Granted Trac has had profound impact on our success. But he has also been party to some of the most brutal fracturing behaviour that our club has seen in the last decade and is arguably still at it. I outright don't like him and what he has done to the team of late. Especially his tantrums and dummy spits during various games throughout the season. He is not naturally a team first player and for the brief few years he was, we won a premiership and made a few finals. Whilst his trade talk has been subdued for now, i wouldnt be surprised if he did go full nuclear.

Not averse to keeping him, but i just want the all shirade to be over so that our team can focus on being competitive again. That to me is in Trac's court. He needs to come out - as has Clarry - to shut down all the trade nonsense. If he doesnt in the lead up to Trade week, then he can pack his bags.

I get the frustration, but I think some of this gets blown up by perception more than reality. Every great player has moments of visible frustration on field, you don’t get to that level without burning hot. To say he’s not team-first ignores the games he’s dragged us over the line when others went missing. He’s already copped more than enough scrutiny, and if the club’s new leadership can reset the culture, Trac is the kind of player you want at the centre of it,not gone. I’d rather back him in than write him off on the basis of media noise

They are relying big time on Graeme Wright's magic. Will be interesting.

Crows don't have picks but they have cap space

This makes them a very suitable trade partner

Pick swaps and future pick trading can make this work

I agree. We could save the salary space for a potential free agent or front load a few contracts, but with tassie coming in I would be keen to maximize draft picks over cap space. We don't land free agents.

they have pick space?.. has that been reported..? i would've thought they'd be pretty tight?

  • CASEY: Richmond

The winds finally returned to Casey Fields for the Demons’ third home game of the VFL season, and its impact was immediate. After two opening rounds played in uncharacteristically fine conditions, the Anzac Day clash brought back the familiar gusty conditions that have been a feature of the region at this time of the year.
Forced to kick into the breeze first, the slow-starting Demons faced a tricky opening against an enthusiastic young Tigers outfit. Casey responded by turning the contest into a scramble, pressuring Richmond into errors and missed targets. The tactic proved crucial, keeping the game tight for three and a half quarters before the Demons pulled away with the autumn wind at their backs.
