The Jones Boy

Still Waiting

Recommended Posts

How good will Jones be in the next couple of seasons? He has a bit of Brock Maclean about him in that he powers to the ball relentlessly. What is outstanding with his game now is his balance and ability to create for his team mates. This fella has the potential to be as good as Greg Wells. He has great endurance, strength, vision and is reasonably quick for his build. His disposal is good on both sides and he is a team player not an individual. I reckon he will soon be a long term leader of our club.

Let us hope the Jones Boy and Brock Mclean play together on the MCG for Many years to come. Far as I am Concerned rite now These two players are the only "Completely Untouchables" list-oh and Pettard. It is great to see no 15 belt down the members wing again. takes me back to my childhood with watching Stanley Alves

Jones is a machine. would love a fit Moloney to join him and the Rock. Gogfrey does his bit but when Eagles line up with Kerr,Judd and (Cousins now defunct) Priddus. the mindset is completely differant.

I'll choose to supress my boner until we can find a ruckman

Might be my PJ bias shining thru... but i reckon we've found a pretty good one in PJ. He will be better than most his size and weight, no doubt, and is ready to play AFL now.

A newly drafted ruckman will take at least 2-3+ years to fill out, pick up the speed of AFL footy, and develop his game. So while we almost certainly will draft for best available ruck come National Draft day, PJ will definately be ready to take over #1 duties by the time White's finished, probably even sooner, at which time Neaves (who is developing very nicely in the VFL) should definately be ready to take on the #2 role under PJ, until that newly drafted ruckman is ready...

I dont think Jamar fits into this picture long-term (or even short term), and will probably end up at Carlton next year (given Denis Pagan's obsession with picking up ruckman lacking in talent  ). Definately will (or should) get picked up/traded to another club come seasons end though.

The more responsibility and opportunity PJ is given, the more he will rise to the challenge. He's shown that in the first half of this year, and i'm sure he will continue to in the 2nd half. Looks like he is going to be a real quality player post-Jeff White, injury permitting. At his current rate of improvement, imagine how the good the big kid will be after 40-50 games? A lot better than Jamar, thats for sure...

A big boy with skills, footy smarts and agility like his (as well as his much improved marking) are very rare. If all things go right, PJ will be around for a long time still...

Not to mention being pretty strong overhead for a man his size. How bout that contested mark and goal inside 50 a couple of weeks ago against the Kanga's (was it?). Smallest fella in the pack, and he took it like a KPP!

If he were a few cm's taller i would say he most certaintly would have gone earlier in the draft in his year. Is very much a complete package type footballer, with very few flaws in his game.

Steady on...I am a big wrap for Jones and am happy that Sylvia is finally fit, but a couple of good games on the end of 9 straight losses isnt the time to really over inflate expectations.

Sylvia was an early pick who is finally repaying faith (quarter by quarter) and Jones is a second year player progressing very well.

Nothing more, lets enjoy the progress as opposed to over estimating value (Green and Bruce).

Having said that, I am loving watching there improvement.

I beleive that Jones is a legend, and one day will be a leader. He is a fantastic player and only can get better.

Legend?? Seriously, he is a good young player nothing more at this stage. Over inflation of value is a curse at this club.

Jones will be a solid, great player for this club for the next 10 years i am sure.

we can only hope that he will become a player similar to Simpson of the kangaroos.

he will never be as great as Mclean or Bate however. These 2 have the potential to be top 20 players in the afl. (sylvia might be too who knows)

i can see jones being the type who always plays solidly and well, is in hard and plays by example.

how can anyone forsee any players full potential? We can all speculate as much as we want but only time will tell. Gee YZE_Magic still hasnt developed commonsense after all these years but i am sure he once had potential to do so. Rate players how they perform week in and week out before comparing players. Its long term players that make a club great, lets hope jones, slyvia, bate etc can string some injury free games together and really meld this team of ours into the powerhousee it deserves to be. GO THE DEES.

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,

    GALLANT by KC from Casey

The world “gallant” is not one that is readily acceptable to losing teams in our game of football so when it was used in the context of the Casey Demons’ loss to Sandringham in yesterday’s match at Casey Fields, it left a bitter taste in the mouth.  The Demons went into the game against the St Kilda affiliated Zebras with the advantage of playing on their home turf (not that this has been a major asset in 2024) and with very little else going in their favour. The Saints have close to a full

    MEANWHILE by Whispering Jack

… meanwhile, at about the same time that Narrm was putting its feet on the accelerator to obliterate the long-suffering Euro-Yroke combination, I heard someone mention in passing that Kuwarna was leading Waalitj Marawar by a whopping 46 to 1 halfway through the second quarter of their game over in Adelaide. “What is football coming to?” I asked myself.  In front of my eyes, the Demons were smashing it through the midfield, forcing turnovers and getting the footy to their forwards who w
