true, but the fact his shoulder hit first and dissipated most of the force meant his head didn't hit the turf forcibly.

less than 50% chance of getting off but, coz of optics and coz if we appeal, we'd get that useless anderson as advocate

Guess he’s lucky hes done that or it’s probably a concussion and 3 weeks

That's a very good question and I think I know how most of us would answer.

Here's another good question.  If the roles were reversed and it was Toby Greene tackling Xavier Lindsay, would people still think a suspension was not warranted?

That's a very good question and I think I know how most of us would answer, haha

Improve you takleing technique maybe AJ, but don't change.

More of that bustling aggression and attack on the ball every week is exactly what out forwardline needs.  Make sure you bring it double against Collingwood.

He will learn. ANB and Chin got rubbed out for tackles but I reckon they became better tacklers after their respective suspensions.

Double aggression against Collingwood? Yes, please. Smash that germ, you know who...

We know he’d only get a phone. The AFL are money hungry

Watched it live right in front of me at the ground and thought straight away that it was a textbook dangerous tackle and predicted the one week. No need to drive his head down like that.

I thought most of the game that Brown was bullying AJ by being just too physical for him in the ruck contests especially, was able to move AJ quite easily. Wonder if AJ just wanted to give the tackle a little extra in frustration/payback.

A silly mistake I hope he learns from.

So why didn't AJ get a fine?  (presume that's what you meant)

I'm guessing the spear tackle he did

Hardly a spear.

Honestly, I thought he was gone the moment he did it.  I think they both slipped a little which made it worse than it should have been, but it was pretty much a textbook example of "arms pinned, head hits the ground." They've been very clear for a few seasons that this would result in a suspension.

Aside from that, I was pretty damn happy with AJ's game.

GWS are a protected species since it is the official club of the AFL.

I refer to them as ‘The Franchise’

I think the AJ suspension will work out well for us.

After his great  work on Xerri in the pre-season practice match, Tom Campbell would be a great replacement. Gawny can have more rest , and be a problem for North up forward more.

Turner should replace Jeffo, who got two lucky goals , but did nothing else.

Point by point -

Careless Conduct, Medium Impact, High Contact

Correct, harsh, and debatable.

Can anyone help me out with how these are assessed?

Bailey Humphrey was cited for swinging his forearm into the head of an opponent. It was a crude action and he immediately apologised to his opponent - which only served to highlight the indiscretion.  His opponent like Brown was not concussed and played out the match.  His grading was:

Careless Conduct, Low Impact, High Contact.  He received a fine for a first offence.

I can't see on face value how the two can be assessed differently on impact.

It’s to do with wording brought in last year ‘potential to cause injury’. So Michael Christian, who somehow still has a job, must’ve thought there was potential to cause injury in Johnson’s one and not Humphrey.

Potential to cause injury?? This bugs me on a few levels. Every footballing action that is remotely dubious should now be scrutinised and players should be suspended on technicality if this "potential" tag is applied. We have over sanitised the game. Christian is a joke! Potential to cause??? Look if my Aunty had niagaras she'd be my Uncle. But she didn't! Potentiality removed! Get rid of this interpretation and just rely on facts is my take! Where was potentialiy which turned into realty with that thug and Gussy???

I haven’t been a big wrap for Jefferson but to say he did nothing else isn’t watching his efforts. He had as good a debut as anyone could hope for, led well, competed hard against a very strong backline and was a real positive for me on the day.

Agree won a free kick for a holding the ball with a ferocious tackle that stuck, a few other high pressure tackles and acts, don't worry, Jeffo will follow the script. I'm really looking forward to watching him play in the best conditions he will ever play in at Shizzen Stadium on Sunday!

Two 'lucky' goals was it? Watch the game! First was a clever & clean roving the contest action, topped off by a lovely snap on the run. Second was a set shot into the wind with a greasy ball when others found it impossible to score a goal at that end. This second goal came at an extremely important time for us to maintain ascendancy. He also created a goal-square, off the turf goal when he cleverly kept the ball in on the Southern Stand pocket, swung the ball one-handed past the opposition, then quickly sent it to the goal mouth. He had other moments that were classy and effective as well. A pleasant surprise in those conditions!

Curious- given the same action by Scrimshaw on Ridley concussed him.  I know I’m baying at the moon by calling out the inconsistencies of the process, but like many thankless jobs I’m up to the challenge!

It’s a stupid thing to include and very easy to manipulate. The outcome is the outcome, the action is what needs to be looked at.

For this year’s Easter Saturday game at the MCG, Simon Goodwin and his Demons wound the clock back a few years to wipe out the horrible memories of last season’s twin thrashings at the hands of the Dockers. And it was about time! Melbourne’s indomitable skipper Max Gawn put in a mammoth performance in shutting out his immediate opponent Sean Darcy in the ruck and around the ground and was a colossus at the end when the game was there to be won or lost. It was won by 16.11.107 to 14.13.97. There was the battery-charged Easter Bunny in Kysaiah Pickett running anyone wearing purple ragged, whether at midfield stoppages or around the big sticks. He finish with a five goal haul.

  • CASEY: UWS Giants

The Casey Demons took on an undefeated UWS Giants outfit at their own home ground on a beautiful autumn day but found themselves completely out of their depth going down by 53 points against a well-drilled and fair superior combination. Despite having 15 AFL listed players at their disposal - far more than in their earlier matches this season - the Demons were never really in the game and suffered their second defeat in a row after their bright start to the season when they drew with the Kangaroos, beat the Suns and matched the Cats for most of the day on their own dung heap at Corio Bay. The Giants were a different proposition altogether. They had a very slight wind advantage in the opening quarter but were too quick off the mark for the Demons, tearing the game apart by the half way mark of the term when they kicked the first five goals with clean and direct football.
