Good to see the AFL have confirmed the 10am start.

While not defending either MFC's  website in general (or North's)  for being so quiet, it could be that they could say nothing until the AFL had signed off on the 'rumour'.  I see that the Carlton StKilda game is still at 11.

Will be interesting to see if Melb beats North in getting it onto their websites......

Hey Binnie, do you think Arden Street Oval could provide a hint as to the address?

If you type in into Google Maps guess what! 😀

Yep, of course.

But in 2025 99% of organizations that want you to know where they are, or want to promote an event, embed the address and google maps INTO the relevant page on their website.

Why do they do that?

So the customer doesn't have to navigate to another web page or site. If the customer does have to do so there is a risk they won't bother - not to mention making the org look like total amateurs.

By the by, the Arden Street ground is ALSO on McCauley Road.

I’ve always thought the address was Macaulay Rd because that side of the ground is super close to Macaulay Rd.

This is where the Demon Army will be for both matches on Saturday. It’s the end of the ground where Arden St and Macaulay Rd meet.

Update just landed in my notifications has the MFC been reading this thread, perhaps?

One of my best mates is a Carlton member. He has equal continued gripes about the disorganised communication from Carlton that we do.

Mate : "Can I come into this pre-game function room? My membership says I can"

Carlton: "Nah mate. Next room for you"

Mate: "I've been through this before. My membership grants me access"

Carlton: "Definitely not. You are mistaken"

Mate: "Here is the terms of my membership and an email from the club sent to me after I enquired last time you refused me. It says I'm allowed in"

Carlton: "I'll check with someone"

Ten minutes later

Carlton "Yeah, ok. Just this once."

Serves him right.

The match sim will consist of four 25-minute quarters, plus game-specific simulations at the end of the second and fourth quarters.

What does the highlighted part mean for the sim against North?

Are they going to change scores, start play from specific areas of the ground, set the time, bring on and off players before they start a set, interesting words.

An example could be, we will they ask North to go 3 points ahead with 60 seconds of play left, or vice versa.

I reckon you nailed your own question.

North have done this the last 2 years in their match sims vs Richmond and Collingwood.

It might give both clubs an opportunity to chase a close deficit  in one scenario and hold a close lead in the other. We need practice in this area as we lost a lot of close ones last year.

Petracca unlikely this weekend.

Mitch Cleary last night suggested that Trac will get some minutes next week against Freo.

I’m hoping we try different scenarios in this game.

See what our forward looks like with

- Johnson , JVR and Turner

- Jeffo JVR and Turner

or

- Johnson and JVR

- Jeffo and JVR

Hope to see sharp on the wings and then forward

Langdon wing then middle

Langford middle than Forward

K.brown in the forward

Reading that why do I feel like I’m a 5 yo on a school excursion?

How can the club not get its act together with the website?

Socials have absolutely improved this year, but we have an older supporter base, who are much more likely to use the website to seek information.

We need to do so much better.

Our supporter base Googles ‘Facebook’ and gets their information there.

…

Its actually a big problem writ large

That's exactly what's going to happen

All that’s left out is the part about being in pairs and holding hands at all times. 😂

Sounds like a wise move to me! I would not be surprised if he doesn't play round 1. We all saw how much is absence affected us last season.  I would much prefer he played the last 80% of the reason rather than rush him back for the early part of the season.

Will the match (soz simulation) be live streamed anywhere? On club's website ... or Kayo?

Just checked it's on Kayo

I get the impression both clubs are not fussed about fans turning up for this one.

If fans turned up (say 15k plus) it would probably be a disaster from a crowd management/facilities viewpoint. I think they would want sub 2k at most

If 15k turned up it would definitely be a disaster. Capacity is officially 4k. And many will be bringing camp chairs.

I think the weather will put many people off. Regardless, there’ll be way more of their supporters than ours.

  • REPORT: Richmond

The fans who turned up to the MCG for Melbourne’s Anzac Day Eve clash against Richmond would have been disappointed if they turned up to see a great spectacle. As much as this was a night for the 71,635 in attendance to commemorate heroes of the nation’s past wars, it was also a time for the Melbourne Football Club to consolidate upon its first win after a horrific start to the 2025 season. On this basis, despite the fact that it was an uninspiring and dour struggle for most of its 100 minutes, the night will be one for the fans to remember. They certainly got value out of the pre match activity honouring those who fought for their country. The MCG and the lights of the city as backdrop was made for nights such as these and, in my view, we received a more inspirational ceremony of Anzac culture than others both here and elsewhere around the country.

  • CASEY: Richmond

The match up of teams competing in our great Aussie game at its second highest level is a rarity for a work day Thursday morning but the blustery conditions that met the players at a windswept Casey Fields was something far more commonplace. They turned the opening stanza between the Casey Demons and a somewhat depleted Richmond VFL into a mess of fumbling unforced errors, spilt marks and wasted opportunities for both sides but they did set up a significant win for the home team which is exactly what transpired on this Anzac Day round opener. Casey opened up strong against the breeze with the first goal to Aidan Johnson, the Tigers quickly responded and the game degenerated into a defensive slog and the teams were level when the first siren sounded.
