Should give some thought to this topic. Its not right that a player is being labelled a liar on here with no way of defending himself. That is not to call ghosty a liar either. We all hear and take different things from conversations.

What if Judd, to avoid the question, just said, I am signed , as in this year or similiar?

i absolutely do have reason to disagree. As of yesterday it was one person here who couldnt wait to get on here and gossip about what they thought they heard.

Get back to me when you can tell me the exact conversation and setting where it took place. Otherwise dont accuse one of our players - ex, a liar.

Disagree ? I asked you if you thought the two posters were lying ?

48YN... ill happily accuse anyone of anything should I think it warranted. I'm just that way 😉

im only aware of one. now just because someone has a different recollection of a conversation doesnt make them a liar.

All this talk about fans “growing up” and being more “professional” with player movement but then the players pick one club and hold their own club to ransom to get there no matter how bad the deal. If a player asks for a trade the club should be able to send them wherever they get the best deal. That would be the league “growing up and being professional”, this is a farce.

This is SUCH a good point.

Nobody has held anyone for ransom yet and we don't know how negotiations will pan out. I would think Melbourne would want pick 11 on the basis that, unlike some of the other players whose names are being bandied about, McVee is only 22 years of age and has a long future in front of him. This makes him a much better proposition to recruit than a 29 year old and should be reflected in the final negotiation.

Not to mention Judd would probably be in the top 10 of this draft if not the top 5, it’s a really good get for freo but I just can’t see them caring what’s fair

McVee did when nominating Freo. He could just say send me to WA.

Then we do what's best for us, which probably would be to deal with West Coast.

yep definitely get off the forums....

My take on this whole debacle:

  1. We need to stop drafting Western Australians. The go-home factor for anyone half decent is huge with the WA clubs always in their ear, and we are forced to overpay to keep any that stay.

  2. This is a very poor result for King and the new regime in terms of selling a bright future to the player group.

  3. A second or third round draft pick is useless - we need to make this a player swap. Failing that, force him to the PSD.

  4. If Judd doesn't want to be here, he can GAGF. We plucked him from obscurity, and he walks out at the first opportunity? Pathetic.

It’s a fair point- I just had a look at the 2022 draft. It was a good draft with Cadman going at 1 with Will Ashcroft and Harry Sheezel behind him. I’d still say Judd gets into top 10( just) in a strong draft.

The fact that Saints are willing to part with pick 7 for Flanders also sets the bar high for this trade window.

He should be the same value that Langdon was in the end was a Pick in the early 20's. I imagine it will end up being 29 and 38 as I fail to see why Freo would offer Pick 11 for an uncontracted player.

The AFL system as a whole is broken. So unprofessional.

I was just reading a post on TW about what Brisbane paid to get the older Ashcroft. You just have to laugh at this stage.

Clubs like Freo get away with the stupid system that is in place.

He obviously doesn't believe in the direction of the club, and I can't blame him. There was always going to be departure repercussions for a dismal 18 months both on and off field.

Can people please stop contemplating pick 11 for McVee. The out of contract Bailey Smith, who is a top 3 player in the AFL based on the brownlow and coaches votes, cost Geelong a late first rounder.

Based on the market, the out of contract McVee who had poor year and played one of the worst individual defensive performances of the year on Rankine in round 17, would be lucky to fetch pick 38.

Funny right? He plays poorly to decrease his value?

Too many ifs and hypotheticals.

System is broken.

Childish indeed.

Anyone who thinks GW is a liar is a fool. There may well be a liar here and his name might be Judd but if you think GW would make this up and then defend it with her reputation, well, your judgement of people must start in the mirror.

Everyone knew Brisbane needed points for that draft. Blame the list managers at the Dogs, Geelong, Hawthorn (x2), and Adelaide who all did stupid trades to allow Brisbane to accumulate enough draft points through meaningless low draft picks. If the other clubs refused to hand Will Ashcroft to them on a platter then they probably only have the draft points to recruit one of Ashcroft or Fletcher.

Bell left Freo last year. This is the second trade period without his ridiculous influence.

The points system is idiotic.

It should be plain and simple, trade directly with whoever owns the pick.

In the Ashcroft case, you'd probably need the first pick. If you need to trade your whole future so be it, as long as you consider that one generational player is all you need.

Except it’s unlikely we use either of those picks in the draft, so unless we can package them up to get something we can use ( like an upgrade to 23 or a future pick) then we may as well tell him to re-sign with us or head to the PSD. Why give Judd and Freo something they want if there’s nil benefit to us?

Might make his manager think twice next time if he manages one of our guys. We won't be strong-armed.

Langdon had finished 4th and 5th in the years before he was traded. Same age. Thats your reference.

This is an out of contract player who we only offered 2 years to on not great money. We have no right to ask for pick 11.

I guess it is Freo though, not Geelong. But I think all that means is that they’ll start with 29 instead of 38.

The carry on is way over the top. A player signed a contract, fulfilled his contract, and now is leaving after finishing his contract.

It’s idiotic until we have a generational player coming through father son.

I don’t agree with trading for the same pick. It should be points but need at least the same round pick to take someone in the first round, and the low picks are pretty much worthless so they should have almost no points. Ashcroft should have cost at least Brisbanes first (they had pick 14 I think) and points from second round picks and lower picks to move up to pick 2. Fletcher also went first round but lower. If Brisbane wanted him they should have had to have 2 first round picks in that draft. The afl are just useless though.

I haven’t been on Demonland for a while. Geez the tone has descended in this thread….might come back after preseason 🤔🙄

  • AFLW REPORT: Gold Coast

The forecast said wind. The ladder said mismatch. The scoreboard said obliteration. Melbourne didn’t just beat Gold Coast — they dismantled them: 13.15 (93) to 0.6 (6). An 87-point obliteration, the Suns held goalless, and the Demons delivering their second-highest winning margin and third-highest score in AFLW history.

It was a tough ask for him to break through as a 199cm ruckman in the shadow of an all-time great in that position who is also the club captain. He had some good days at Casey but was unable to progress and was delisted at the end of the season.

The 33-year-old Campbell has yet to play AFL football for Melbourne, but his Casey form has been strong and he has been retained as a ready-made ruck depth option who is widely regarded as someone who is excellent for the culture of the club.

The Demons acquired an interesting player in Sharp, who narrowly missed securing a spot in the Lions’ premiership team last year. The 22-year-old medium forward played in the opening round this season and ended up with 18 senior games, although he was substituted in or out in for ten of those matches. He demonstrated glimpses of form, but ultimately ended the year on the margins of the team.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Gold Coast

On Friday, the Demons return to our Casey Fields fortress where they have a 77% win rate. The scent of September is in the air and the struggling Suns are on the horizon. The Cranbourne weather forecast? Ominous, like the match itself: a strong chance of carnage. Let’s be honest, last week’s first half against the West Coast was a training drill but we dropped our guard in the final quarter. While this match is a mismatch on paper — second versus seventeenth — football is won in the wind, the contests, and the moments.
