19 will be at least 28 by the time it gets used, still unders but a step in the right direction

Probably about right unfortunately

Pick 23 will end up around pick 35 in a weak draft. It's a poor result for us. We are highly highly unlikely to get a player who plays as many games as Mcvee has already, let alone has a career as good as he will.

On another note, if what's been reported about Judd wanting to e a midfielder or offensive rebounding half back is true, he's in for a rude shock. He's not as good as he thinks he is if that's the case. He performed the lockdown defender role well, but the further up the ground he went, the worse he became. His stints as a midfielder were not up to AFL standard and if that's where he sees himself he's in for a rude shock. He should be thankful he's even made it to the position he has given he was a speculative low talent rookie lister.

If Freo also get pick 19 in their pick swap can't we get that instead of pick 23?

I guess Freo will just wait until 2min before the trade deadline and we'll cave and accept 23.

And yet finished 9th in 23 and 7th in 24 and your right about the midfield time, wasn't great and i think he knows that but your wrong about a attacking role,he's a good kick and lets just say in another 2 years and training as a mid,who knows

And there it is..

Very happy to see Fremantle giving up picks 12 and 33 to get the deal completed.

Futher to this notion ... they'll probably have off 12 for other picks beforehand. So, for sake of discussion.. We jand over Judd.. they hand over say 21 ( to pick something)

We take 21, 23 and Spargo comp and try and get a decent upgrade back into the draft for probably only one decent player.

We still have need of points for our little gems ( dont we ? )

Lamb will trade these picks for 18, just like he did for Tholstrup.

We've being throwing away 2nd and 3rd round picks like confetti in recent years. For once I'd like Jason Taylor to be given the opportunity to have multiple top 30 picks, and not just 1st round picks acquired by trading our furture 1sts.

The elite top end talent is supposedly shallow this year, but that doesn't mean that there isn't talent deeper in the draft.

McVee for 23

At least it rhymes

Pick 23 for a best 22, 22 year old with upside to become a top 15 player is not good enough Lamb. We have never got above what we should have and consistently get below what we would like. Look at all our players playing around the league that we have got peanuts for. Bent over yet again. Honest Lamb could never be a used car saleman, he'd go out of business.

Unless we need pick 23 for other deals, there is no need for the club to cave.

The only way we’d need that is if we will use all 3 seconds to get both the Suns early picks

We won’t need to wait that long! They clearly want to package the pick up for something else

Yep, or there are other deals the club is planning. We have many players leaving and few coming in at this stage

I like McVee at Melbourne circa 24, but 25 version of McVee, pick 23 sounds about right and maybe a bit over

Not sure what people are complaining about. A top of the 2nd round draft pick is not too shabby.

And if it is WCE ND23 it is the first pick in the 2nd round - a highly valued and in high demand at the start of the 2nd night of the draft. So I hope we hold it until then as traditionally clubs pay overs to draft any sliders from the first round.

Also, the trade people here wanted ND 12 for our pick 27 and McVee in points terms is approx ND 25. ND23 is a better result no matter how one looks at.

ps I'm still shattered at losing him🥹

He’s the same player FFS.

A few? We have 2, worth about pick 60 combined

I think 23 for McVee is pretty bang on.

What’s hilarious though is Freo convincing themselves that 12+33 for 19+23 was a good trade for them/

We’re a weak pushover club

Not demanding 11 or 19 and then accepting 23 when we could’ve sent him to WCE sums up where we’re at

Literally 4 picks earlier could’ve been ours

Starcevich is a massive gamble for West Coast regardless, you're always going to take on risk bringing in a player with concussion issues.

Ordinary player who kept on falling over. His aspirations to be an onballer are absurd. I think it's [censored]. He wanted to go home and get out of Melbourne, the wretched city and the wretched team. Can't blame him for that.

It’s Pink Lady night at Princes Park — a vibey Friday evening setting for a high-stakes clash between second-placed Melbourne and eleventh-placed Essendon. The wind-sheltered IKON Park, a favourite ground of the Demon players, promises flair, fire and a touch of pink. Melbourne has never lost a home-and-away game here, though the ghosts of two straight-sets finals exits in 2023 still linger.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: # 1 Steven May

The premiership defender has shown signs of wear and tear due to age, and his 2025 season was inconsistent, ending poorly with a suspension and a noticeable decline in performance. The Demons are eager to integrate younger players onto their list and have indicated that they may not be able to guarantee him senior games next season, in what would be the final year of his contract.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: # 2 Jacob van Rooyen

The young key tall failed to make progress during the season, with a decline in his goal kicking output. His secondary role as a backup ruckman, which may have hindered his ability to further develop his game, and he was also impacted by the team's poor forward connection. It will be interesting to observe his performance under a new coaching regime.
