Good times!

Except we sort of have to!

That’s overly optimistic, he mixed some very good games in with some quiet ones. I suspect he would’ve struggled in any senior games aside from the Gold Coast win where we moved the ball far better then any other game in the back end of the year.

He should debut early in 2025 if he has a full preseason but he won’t do well at AFL level unless the team sorts out their ball movement and forward structure. We can’t keep playing footy that makes the key forward role in to a heavyweight UFC fight every week.

😵‍💫 if you think our forward entries were bad Casey's were like an under 11 game! It was absolutey diabolical! Jeffo still got 29 goals from [censored] disposal! He should play round 1 IMO

Yeah I know! Bit of a shame, was using it a lot.

At AFL level you don't get silver service against the good teams.  Forwards have to be able to win their own footy when the ball isn't to their advantage.  That's what makes you a quality key forward.  It's not easy to do.  Good ball movement certainly helps, but you need many more strings to your bow than relying on a game-plan.

You need smarts, athleticism, aggression and courage to become a gun key forward.  And you need to become a gun to carve out a successful career.

van Rooyen will get better and better with experience, because he has the traits to make it.  I'd back him to become elite or close to it.

Jefferson ?  It's an important year to see what's in his makeup.  He's coming from a long way back.

Good times!

That drift towards capability is chugging along nicely, in the background; frustratingly, it is yet to erupt, slaying opponents in surprising ways. Cannot wait  until the season starts ...

If anyone had any ideas how we replace his 6 goals from last year, I'm all ears

This man has a very impressive CV, in his area of expertise.  I trust he can help with mindset and "culture".

Can you tell us anything about him?

Jefferson still remains a long way from an AFL key forward. We’ll see soon enough if he has the requisite desire and will to really succeed. It’s a brutal position and takes enormous courage and strength.

As I have mooted previously I don’t think that Jeffo need fill a key position forward spot. I believe he could be given a roaming tole as a half forward as he has good ground and forward skills. In other words he is more mobile than say JVR and Johnson and as mobile as Disco.

He could be a bit like Fritta in his initial season until he challenges any of the main ( 1 or 2 in order) defenders from the opposition.

Thing is Tmac had a pretty good year, but cant see them playing May, Lever, Tmac and Petty down back in the same team. So im not sure on the logic. Maybe to get Pettys confidence back?. I really do think he was not moving well in a lot of games last year, clearly hampered by injury.

The logic is TMac is nearly done, May spent time injured last year and will be 32, and Lever is literally injured now.

Petty has to be back.
