I have a hunch we will go taller and longer kicking this coming season, That said, did any one notice if any of the players had more unusually longer distance in their kicking at training?

The reason being in my  opinion, i believe that one of the biggest factors in the GF just gone was Daniher. He should have won the NS and his long kicking was instrumental in their win.

Most people think short precision, i'm thinking play on long.

23 in total by my count - 22 in the session - Adams doing laps.

Tmac, Rivers, Sparrow, Chandler, Bowey, Hore, Viney, Salem from the oldies

Sestan, Kentfield, Windsor, Moniz, Brown, McVee, Jefferson, Howes, Verrall, Woewodin, Tholstrup, Turner, Van Rooyen

Right Slarti?

I attended some of the training today. Richo spoke to me and said not to believe what is in the media, as we will good this year. Jefferson and Kentfield looked big and strong.  Petty was doing all the training. Adams looked like he was in rehab.

To be fair I’m not sure what else Richo would say other than anything with a positive slant 😂

‘Wouldn’t bother turning up mate, this team is going nowhere’

From my exclusive Ghostwriter:

Despite the weather there were a few regular trackies there today. Training sessions have been cancelled due to the rain, so it was awesome that they not only went ahead today but didn’t modify the session. Again, it was a serious affair, no holding back.

Gotta admit I didn’t see a lot of the session (folks insisted on goddamn earbashing me the entire time 🤥😁).

What I can tell you is that pretty much every player now has runner’s legs, especially their calves. I took pics of such, Kat; hopefully you have enough pic allowance to post them. Another sign that an emphasis has been put on running is that they all seem much faster and have more stamina, unlike last year’s first couple of preseason sessions where there was much sucking in of air following running.

Kolt was wearing #12 but I doubt it’s permanent since he chose #39 for a reason.

Again no SM23 in attendance.

JA26 ran laps the entire time. Seemed to be moving perfectly fine though.

Fritta hit the track earlier than everyone else, as did Tmac and Vines.

Pup Brown can run! And run and run and run. Blink and you miss him.

Same players today as were there on Monday with the addition of Riv and Spaz.

Luker is definitely bigger now as has already been mentioned, but up close… geez Louise! He’s muscle upon muscle and he’s grown in height. He’s still settling into life in Melbourne, is happy living at Geoff Porz’s along with Kolt. I told him he clearly does gym every day. He said, “I have to.” I said, “But you like it, right?” He said, “Yeah.” I said, “Be honest.” He said, “Yeah nah.” 😅

‘Til next time, Kat 👋 xxx

One thing I noticed at today's training that I hadn't noticed to the same degree previously... Players immediately ran off-line when they took a mark and wanted to play on. In continuous play, the receiver's first steps were to either side rather than straight ahead. I understand that players who are evasive do this instinctively, but today it seemed uniform practice to get the approaching opponent off balance.

Verrall may surprise. He is mobile and seems well balanced at ground level. He dishes off well by hand and takes good options.

You have a higher opinion than me ww. VFL level talent at best IMO.

Hearing McAdam is about to call it quits

I think he's one I would give more time before making a call 'old dee'...has some really good positives and will take time.

Just not sure what position yet but wouldn't be surprised if he ends up in a KP.

He's 20! Just under 200cms. Well-built now! No slug on the running track! He definitely has time to improve with a little senior exposure.

And the down side is?

I hope you are correct.

Obviously it is up to them, but I would like to see Clayton Oliver, Jack Billings and Shane McAdam (if he isn't retiring?!) start their Pre-Seasons early with the Demons.

interesting that verrall seems to be training with the backs?

I saw him in the forwards group. May have missed Verrall's backline work.

Perhaps he will be a swing man, or as a possible ruck backup, so needs to be training everywhere player.

Petty in the backline is what I've been waiting to hear - huge result

That quite possibly could of have just been for todays training session though.

The Ox said during the week he believes Petty will be going back to the backline

Despite a spirited third quarter surge, the Demons have slumped to their worst start to a season since 2012, remaining winless and second last on the ladder after a 39-point defeat to Essendon at Adelaide Oval in Gather Round.

It’s Game Day, and the Demons are staring down the barrel of an 0-5 start for the first time since 2012 as they take on Essendon at Adelaide Oval for Gather Round. In that forgettable season, Melbourne finally broke their drought by toppling the Bombers. Can lightning strike twice? Will the Dees turn their nightmare start around and breathe life back into 2025?

  • PREVIEW: Essendon

As the focus of the AFL moves exclusively to South Australia for Gather Round, the question is raised as to what are we going to get from the  Melbourne Football Club this weekend? Will it be a repeat of the slop fest of the last three weeks that have seen the team score a measly 174 points and concede 310 or will a return to the City of Churches and the scene where they performed at their best in 2024 act as a wakeup call and bring them out of their early season reverie?  Or will the sleepy Dees treat their fans to a reenactment of their lazy effort from the first Gather Round of two years ago when they allowed the Bombers to trample all over them on a soggy and wet Adelaide Oval? The two examples from above tell us how fickle form can be in football. Last year, a committed group of players turned up in Adelaide with a businesslike mindset. They had a plan, went in confidently and hard for the football and kicked winning scores against both home teams in a difficult environment for visitors. And they repeated that sort of effort later in the season when they played Essendon at the MCG.
