The NM home games against Fremantle and WCE in Perth (price $2.5M) has echoes of when we sold our home game to Brisbane.

The big complaint was by other clubs along the lines of giving Brisbane four points.

NM may as well sell two home games to Qld, SA and NSW and balance their books. Theme song could be changed to the Travelling Wilburys.

Expect Hawthorn to cover off their lost Tasmanian revenue by a taxpayer funded game or two

PS: NM will still play two home games in Tasmania in 2025

Agreed. It's a hassle going to the Thu night games mainly because when you get home from the game you're still amped but still need to get up early for work. However they're to watch at home.

Sounds like we'll have somewhere between 0 and 2 Thu night games in the first 15 round block. If we're any good through May, we'll likely get a couple in the floating fixture from round 16 onwards. If we're garbage then it will be 1:45 Saturday, 1:10 Sunday and 4:40 Sunday and the occasional Saturday night game against an interstate side in July and August.

Anzac Eve is a Thursday night so we have at least 1. More than happy to watch Thursday's just don't like going and then work the next morning.

So we get one Thursday night game by default (Anzac eve)

Perhaps an early indication that the AFL wants us off prime time. We might get one Friday night at best, and it will probably be away to Geelong or interstate.

11 wins and we are basically North Melbourne.

We finished a draw behind Essendon (with better percentage) but they've been given 4 Thursday night games to our 1. As you say, 1 is the same number of Thursdays that North's been given so far.

However, I'm happy with that. I hate it when we play Thursday night footy.

There remains Friday night footy available for prime time exposure and I much prefer that.

I really don't mind the Thursday night matches from a neutral spectator at home perspective. I don't want the Dees to get too many Thursday nights as it's not great for our crowd numbers.

Depends upon who we play.

The Thursday night fixture for the first 15 rounds has been released.

Our only appearance is the ANZAC Eve game v Richmond.

The problem was that we were #14 in scoring this year.

The AFL and channel 7 want clubs that play attractive high scoring footy on prime time. Explains why Hawthorn have 3 Thursday nights, 2 Friday nights (in OR and round 1) and one wonders how many more Friday nights before the floating fixture takes effect.

They're obviously banking on an Essendon resurgence (3 Thu night games) more so than an MFC resurgence.

Why is 4.40pm inconvenient? If cold is the issue then hats, scarves and mittens will solve the problem.

It's way better than 7.30 on Saturday night.

Some fixture nuggets for the first 15 rounds... The Grand Final rematch will be Round 1. Sat March 15. Syd v Bris, 4.15pm at the SCG.

FRIDAY night matches:

4x Collingwood/Hawthorn

3x Carlton/Sydney

2x Brisbane/St Kilda/Bulldogs

1x Melbourne/Richmond

Clearly being punished for [censored] game plan and unwatchable football.

So we have 1 thursday, 1 Friday, 1 Monday in the first 15 matches. Hello Red ball footy at the G :) (alternatively could be a whole heap of Sunday 3:20s again)

We absolutely deserve to be off prime time given what we dished up after round 5 last year.

I wonder if the Friday night game will be some random interstate game on Good Friday night against West Coast over there, or if it will be a genuine Friday night MCG game for all to turn up to.

@FearTheBeard any intel on round 1.

Obviously won't be Carlton, Richmond, Hawthorn, Essendon, Sydney or Brisbane.

North are rumoured to play Dogs in round 1, while Collingwood are hosting Port.

So that leaves GC, Adelaide, Freo, West Coast, St Kilda, GWS or Geelong.

I have a feeling it will be either West Coast at Optus or GWS at the MCG.

We're allegedly playing North at Marvel in round 2 on a Sunday.

AND then;

Gold Coast round 3 at the MCG (first time since 2018) on Saturday afternoon.

No idea, saints would be my guess if the afl keeps with wanting to play all Victorian teams in Melbourne in round 1

Bewdy!

Day games, here we come! (under the radar?)

Suits our supporters base too (not sure about the sponsors though)

But I agree with @Clintosaurus ... we got abandoned rather quickly.  Surely we haven't regressed to Neeldesque-like proportions, have we?

Is this confirmed?

For us to be on the same tier as Richmond, the wooden spooner, and behind St Kilda, is pretty poor. I get we played poor quality football for decent chunks of this season but it’s a stark drop off.
