You shouldn't sign the contract unless they include the tomato sauce, @hardtack.

It'll eventually be back-ended anyway.

Which is preferable to front-ended...

I bet they paid more for Robbie a few years ago.

I think Katy will be good, she has some good tunes. Noy sure about Tina Arena coming out to sing chains with her though. Doesn't really rock the G.

But I did laugh when Katy said there are 10 melbourne teams, can't believe one of them didn't make it. It is a fair point.

Whilst strolling down memory lane, Wikipedia's summary of the 1945 Bloodbath GF is interesting reading

Wiki 1945 VFL GF

Carlton vs South

What was interesting was the aftermath and the mooted rule changes including reducing the amount of players on the ground and possibly reverting back to no boundary throw-ins (that little known rule was in operation from 1926 - 1939)

Even back then they wanted a more open free-flowing game

If the Lions get excellent production out of Hipwood & Daniher, they'll win.  They can win without them firing but they'll be doing it the hard way instead

Taking the heat in the hotspot area of the forward line as well as gaining possessions, playing in front, bringing the ball to ground front & centre and putting their bodies on the line etc etc

But most of all, hitting the scoreboard

Do all that with the other forwards chipping in and they'll be hard to beat

Talented key forwards who produce the goods are worth their weight in gold in September

Something we were sadly lacking in the finals series in 2023.  And it cost us

We had no one doing all that in the Carlton SF and only JVR in the QF (and therefore, by default, too much was placed on the shoulders of a player in his 20th game)

Hipwood & Daniher are seasoned campaigners and that makes all the difference

Our entrant in the Grand Final sprint is ... Oliver Sestan.

I imagine you'd get reasonable odds on him winning.  Gamble responsibly.

But CAN he run?

No pressure guys

And if Brisbane lose, being the runner up 2 years running would be hard to come back from

Late team changes:

Honorary bench - well, couch - positions for Bob 'Chimp' Skilton and Kevin 'Bulldog' Murray.

Neither up to attending. I hope the game is gentle to them.

MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
