Melbourne strongly targeting Brisbane’s first round pick, currently Pick 15 (1112 points).

Sending pick 25 from Adelaide (756 points), Pick 38 received from Sydney (465), and Pick 50 will give the Lions 1,494 points to assist with the acquisition of L. Ashcroft.

25 (756) + 38 (465) + 50 (273) = 1494 - not sure where your 1149 points is coming from?

Your maths makes the deal a bit more likely in terms of what the Lions will agree too but I think they will want a future pick included in any deal.

So we're effectively trading half of Grundy's proceeds (not sure what we did with pick 46 last year), Neale-Bullen and a speculative late pick for a late first rounder.

I'm ok with that BBP

Would be a very crafty piece of work

From all reports this draft is very deep into the teens with quality

1494 points is just shy to the equivalent of pick 9.

According to phantom drafts, Ashcroft will go pick 1 or 2. Let's assume it's pick 2 as most clubs who have the first pick won't bid on a player.

Pick 2 is 2517 points. With a 20% discount for father sons that will equal 2014 points.

Brisbane don't have a current second round pick as they traded it last year. Their next picks as it currently stands is 53 (233 points) and 69 (49 points).

1776 points in total after the hypothetical trade.

Technically they can go into deficit which will effect their 1st pick of 2025. I doubt the suggested trade will be enough points to satisfy Brisbane, but it's not far off.

They'll have to find a trading partner willing to put up more than we are.

Could be a few clubs willing to do that but impossible to predict prior to the trade/pick swap period.

Richmond could be the trouble maker and trump us like the doggies did last year.

If Richmond lose Graham they could end up with pick 21 and 22. They also have pick 29 as well.

21 and 22 = 1723

Or

21 and 29= 1531

Both already higher than our alleged offer without later junk picks thrown in.

They would also split 25 for a lot more than 756 points and given the depth of this draft they may be able to split 38.

Pick 46 came into 42 after father son / academy point matches.

We traded pick 42 on draft night to the Saints for their 2024 third round pick which is currently pick 45 (347 points).

Pick 45 wasn't mentioned in the hypothetical trade but would be the difference in points needed in my previous post.

This would mean we would have pick 5, 15, 61.

Say we end up doing the trade, that would leave us with 5, 15, 45 and 61.

45 for Daniel? Or perhaps future 3rd?

61 for Derksen?

Seems like Daniel wants to stay put...which is...odd

Will we be finished or:

Can we trade our future 1st for Geelongs 2024 1st, so I can go back to barracking for Brisbane on Saturday night?

45 for Daniel is terrible business.  He’s declining.  Short and slow !!! On far too many $$$ as well !!!

I agree that Toiges could be trouble but I'm not sure they're going to part with 21 and 22 for 15 unless they have someone in mind. They need to fill a lot of holes on that list with the number of players jumping ship.

There were a number of Demonland Trackwatchers at Gosch's Paddock this morning to bring you their observations from Preseason Training. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

Welcome back to Demonland for those like me who have been on vacation. I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to
