Gee the dogs were lucky to land Darcy under father son. He's going to be great for them.

I'm more peeved they got Jamara and we missed out on Mac Andrew.

I reckon if the state government built us our own Stadium at Casey, and then we only allowed 300 opposition supporters in we’d give that record a fair shake.

Maybe if you moved Casey to Red Hill

Agreed!

blatant free. Meek blocking English from contesting the ball. You can’t just clear the space around the ball drop and not even contest it yourself

how do they not know the basic rules?

100% plus the main reason it was paid was cause he turned his head looking for English. Block and take eyes off ball = free kic

Yeah basically we are the only ones who got stuffed with that rule change and change back.

[censored] if I know.

"Sweepers" was never traditionally a position in cricket.  It came in with 50 over games but moreso in 20/20 to describe deep fielders who swept the leg of off side boundary.

They now run more ( and faster) than deep mid wicket or deep cover in the traditional form!

Outstanding football

I hope it stays this close.

The great German footballer Franz Beckenbauer, nickname ‘Der Kaiser’ (translated as the emperor) is recognised as the creator of the sweeper role (also known as the 'libero').

The sweeper is a defensive player who sits behind the defensive line, sweeping up and dealing with any balls played through the defensive line. Beckenbauer was a great distributor and was also very adept at setting attacks in motion.

‘Marra not having a good night 😭

i don't like the look of the Hawks here.

I'm feeling dogs are going to pull away.

(Battle between Frost-ball and Harmes; Harms with the Big Game credentials)

(Also, calling @binman, I am not convinced the Hawk's #loading took finals into contention.)

All the Hawks fans are up and about again after a long interval.

It's sickening to see.

I hope the doggies smash em

I'm with you, hate the Hawks. Arrogant supporters.

So a half - back flanker? Use that instead!

  • REPORT: Fremantle

For this year’s Easter Saturday game at the MCG, Simon Goodwin and his Demons wound the clock back a few years to wipe out the horrible memories of last season’s twin thrashings at the hands of the Dockers. And it was about time! Melbourne’s indomitable skipper Max Gawn put in a mammoth performance in shutting out his immediate opponent Sean Darcy in the ruck and around the ground and was a colossus at the end when the game was there to be won or lost. It was won by 16.11.107 to 14.13.97. There was the battery-charged Easter Bunny in Kysaiah Pickett running anyone wearing purple ragged, whether at midfield stoppages or around the big sticks. He finish with a five goal haul.

  • CASEY: UWS Giants

The Casey Demons took on an undefeated UWS Giants outfit at their own home ground on a beautiful autumn day but found themselves completely out of their depth going down by 53 points against a well-drilled and fair superior combination. Despite having 15 AFL listed players at their disposal - far more than in their earlier matches this season - the Demons were never really in the game and suffered their second defeat in a row after their bright start to the season when they drew with the Kangaroos, beat the Suns and matched the Cats for most of the day on their own dung heap at Corio Bay. The Giants were a different proposition altogether. They had a very slight wind advantage in the opening quarter but were too quick off the mark for the Demons, tearing the game apart by the half way mark of the term when they kicked the first five goals with clean and direct football.
