Yes sorry misunderstood what you said - I agree

Thought he'd end up at the saints, not sure how much game time he'd get at the others

interesting to see we we trade for him or if the view by clubs is that we will delist him anyway and someone can pick him up for nothing as a DFA.

2024 squad = 45. 😭ANB (crows) BBB ()Gus (med ret) , Hunter () JS29, KFW, Schache. Tomlinson likely to go.
37
??? Marty Hore??? Staying or delisted???

️Gawn, Petracca, Viney, May, Oliver (tbc) ❤️kozzzy  (6)

soldiers: Rivers, McVee , Lever, Windsor, JVR, Bowey, Chandler,  Fritsch, Howes, Langdon, Petty, Salem, Sparrow, Tholstrup, Turner (15)

The one more year club… ANW,  Woey jnr, KBrown,… Verrall, Sestan,  Billings, Fullarton, Spargo, Kentfield, Tmcd*, Melksham* (could be high turnover at end of 2025)  (11)

The two more years club …  Jefferson, Adams, Laurie, McAdam (contracted to 2026) (4) and ??? Tom Campbell  - unsure of contract length

him - who?

I think it is Tomlinson.

Can't blame Lamb when we pickup no one. It was own goals that caused all that.

Tomlinson from depth to depth?

You don’t think anyone watched Tomlinson the last few years and thought he was a best 22 player right?

Moving from Steve May’s back up to competing with Billy Frampton would be a smart move for him though.

Thought he'd be an ok Battle replacement FWIW

With Wilkie and Howard the Saints don’t need to play 3 experienced talls, depth would help but the smart long term play for them is to expose some kids.

Tx for this

Not much of a return from old Schacke.

Same with McAdam. I wish we could move him along.

Sad about Anb.

Definitely worth keeping Milk.

Hunter can go.

It’s AMW please. Beaver sorry Deever!!!

8 off the list. Down to 37
??? Marty Hore??? Staying or delisted???Likely to stay with Tomlinson going.

Add in Campbell and Sharp*, plus potentially another DFA (Parfitt?). Add in 4 in the draft (and leave room for Mentha as a cat B rookie).

this is the current lay of the list (u can see where i adjsuted from numerical order to adding players as they get added.

believe mcvee and AMW* need to be upgraded at the 3yr mark

*AMW can be delisted? or moved to the A list as he's under the 10 game threshold.

so two of the grey tiles would be filled therefore blocking out a 6th and 7th 'A' rookie#

#jsmith off the list would also make way for mcvee, tomlinson for amw and then we'd be in the position of having the two ND picks and 2 'A' spots which could be filled during the draft, or by yzes boy (unlikely) or by SSP or left for MSD

Assume Tomlinson is departs.
Asdume js29 departs.
Assume Hore gets another year as a rookie.
Assume McVee and AMW promoted to main list.
37 listed. Add Campbell, Sharp, 5&9.  That’s only 41.
Plenty of room for three further additions of DFA or draft or SSP additions (plus add Ricky Mentha as Cat B rookie).

Departures off the 2024 squad - traded: 😭ANB (crows) BBB ()Gus (med ret) , Hunter () delisted: JS29, KFW, Schache & Tomlinson

You should list KFW completely separately because he's a B Rookie (and can only be replaced by such) while all the others are primary list players.

By all means also list Hore separately as an A Rookie too.

Quinton Narkle apparently being delisted, thoughts?

Couldn't make it at 2 clubs before, including Geelong who have proven to be incredible at identifying and developing talent. No reason to think he would work here.

Played 3 finals this year,  wouldnt grab him for best 22, but if we're after free depth does it hurt to ask the question?

Everything from our trade period suggests we aren’t that keen on free depth.

Tom Campbell was important to cover Max.

Otherwise I expect to see Laurie, Billings, Woey, AMW and even Kynan Brown, Sestan getting chances rather than Narkle level guys.

We might have 1 spot for a ready made mid if we go for 2 raw players in the draft, otherwise I expect see 5 and 9 added to the depth list too.

Of course, it’s not the backline, you might argue and you would probably be right. It’s the boot studder (do they still have them?), the midfield, the recruiting staff, the forward line, the kicking coach, the Board, the interchange bench, the supporters, the folk at Casey, the head coach and the club psychologist  It’s all of them and all of us for having expectations that were sufficiently high to have believed three weeks ago that a restoration of the Melbourne team to a position where we might still be in contention for a finals berth when the time for the midseason bye arrived. Now let’s look at what happened over the period of time since Melbourne overwhelmed the Sydney Swans at the MCG in late May when it kicked 8.2 to 5.3 in the final quarter (and that was after scoring 3.8 to two straight goals in the second term).

  • CASEY: Essendon

Casey’s unbeaten run was extended for at least another fortnight after the Demons overran a persistent Essendon line up by 29 points at ETU Stadium in Port Melbourne last night. After conceding the first goal of the evening, Casey went on a scoring spree from about ten minutes in, with five unanswered majors with its fleet of midsized runners headed by the much improved Paddy Cross who kicked two in quick succession and livewire Ricky Mentha who also kicked an early goal. Leading the charge was recruit of the year, Riley Bonner while Bailey Laurie continued his impressive vein of form. With Tom Campbell missing from the lineup, Will Verrall stepped up to the plate demonstrating his improvement under the veteran ruckman’s tutelage. The Demons were looking comfortable for much of the second quarter and held a 25-point lead until the Bombers struck back with two goals in the shadows of half time. On the other side of the main break their revival continued with first three goals of the half. Harry Sharp, who had been quiet scrambled in the Demons’ first score of the third term to bring the margin back to a single point at the 17 minute mark and the game became an arm-wrestle for the remainder of the quarter and into the final moments of the last.

The Demons simply did not take their opportunities when they presented themselves and ultimately when down by 25 points effectively ending their finals chances. Goal kicking practice during the Bye?
