I think Pert's in a no win situation here, at least with a lot of people on this site.

Perhaps the problem isn’t what he’s saying, but the fact that our supporters are so obsessed with constantly [censored] on our club, just like the media.

So it should be; playing out in the media is killing us. Get it back in house.

I thought Pert was as honest as he could be there.

Anger is an energy - John Lydon

Interesting that he mentioned Trac’s role. I wonder if Trac is annoyed that he copped that injury playing up forward, which is a role he doesn’t want to play.

Great song, love PIL

Channel the energy for positive change, build an 'us vs everyone' mentality and attack next year with everything we've got.

We need to back up the playing group with a few shrude trades for obvious missing cogs (an experienced key forward as a minimum and a developing genuine backup for Max in case of injury) and work on an aggressive attacking game style to generate excitement in our game.

Maybe it means role around the club. More of a say and leadership responsibilities.

Hasn’t come across great, and it’s hard to given the very strong cultural statements made at the start of the season which are being played back to him

To be fair, he said the "this is the best culture I've seen in 40 years in the game" were in the context of questions they were being asked about the Joel Smith situation and whether that was a reflection on the club culture rather than an individual behavioural issue .

Exactly. Damned if you do and damned if you don’t.
Everyone screaming for our CEO or president to speak and when they do they complain.

Ceo speak is you're fired. Needs to be some decent firings.

I doubt that he was referring to a positional role. It's more about Trac being a senior player, and his influence within the playing group.

So hypothetically, what if Trac tells Pert that he has an issue with Goody's gameplan? Or he's concerned with the direction of the club in terms of our poor recruiting in recent years? Pert can't direct Trac's concerns to the respective departments. It undermines the authority of those people in the roles.

This is why an independent/external review of the club is needed. The fact that a CEO has to address the concerns of a player suggests that all is not well.

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.
