I’m assuming you’re a grown adult. Why then would you need it explained that throughout a person’s career they will have moments of doubt and instability? That blind and unwavering commitment to any professional organisation is unrealistic? That physical trauma can have severe impact on one’s mental outlook?Ā

This ā€œtrustā€ of yours - what is the worth of it if it’s so readily disposed, despite having no true knowledge of the situation?

IF, Trac is desperate to leave the club now, do you think it’s because he’s got a new-found kink for disappointing thousands of people? Or could it possibly be that there is a serious issue between him and a person/people at the club?

IF, the situation is similar to what ā€œjournalistsā€ are describing, and IF somehow Trac does manage to leave the Demons, I have a feeling we’ll discover down the track that someone who is not CP is at fault here.Ā

It’s either that or he’s emerged from his ordeal with an entirely new, self-serving, wreckless, prima-donna personality. I’m having trouble believing this is what happened.Ā

Granted all that maybe true. However the moment he dragged the club through the mud, that door closed on him. By that I mean leaking (directly or indirectly) to the media. I don’t care what the issue, deal with it privately.Ā

He still hasn’t denied that he wants to Leave. Has been reported he wants to play for a bigger club etc. That is not who I’d want leading my club and that’s ok - maybe he doesn’t even want to.

I don't think it happens but I reckon they could pull it off if they wanted to. They can't draft 8 kids and expect to be competitive. The question would be is Petracca happy going to a bottom 4 team, I suspect not.

Richmond has currently picks 1, 21, 30, 39, 41, 48, 57, 64, 73.

They could easily lose all of Baker, Bolton, Rioli and Graham.

Speculation/suggestions from cal on Gettable proposed these scenarios... granted this is anĀ  educated guess.

Rioli to Gold Coast for pick 13 (some say could even be 5).

Baker and Bolton to freo for 9, 10 and 17.

Graham to net a second round pick 22.

That could potentially leave them picks 1, 9, 10, 13, 17, 21, 22 and a stack of later picks.

They could use some of those later picks to target gold coast or Brisbane's later first rounder (14 or 20).

They could offer say pick 1 and 9 for Petracca and still have 4-5 first round picks left over. And that's not even using their future picks.

1 and 9 would be so tempting. Take pick 1, 7 to draft. Pick 9 for Callaghan from GWS.Ā

Regardless of what happens going forward surely it’s a given that Trac asked about a trade. TM was emphatic that he had and anyone concerned about their own brand as much as he seems to be would have shot that down in a heartbeat if it wasn’t true.Ā
Ā

As mentioned by another poster on here he likely asked his manager the question and was told to forget it. Which hasn’t stopped him or someone close to him making it public. Everything since then has looked like a well orchestrated exercise in damage control by he and the club.Ā

Why would Richmond want Trac/Trac want Richmond at this stage of their re-build?? Makes close to zero sense. I think the media, the public and apparently Demonland just enjoy talking about the hypothetical.

Agree but the problem is until Trac comes out and refutes the rumour he wants out those articles will keep coming.

Even if he stays this trade period, the articles will continue all through next year especially if the AFL brings in trading draft picks 3 years out. Then you'll have articles like the Pies trading 3 first rounders for him.

Until Trac makes a public statements one way or the other the speculation will continue.

There is no bad publicity.

this keeps tracca’s name around. And the demons name up front.

if we are being spoken about the club sponsors are happy. Ā
Ā

Its like a win win situation. If it is orchestrated then tracca will not make a public decision until after the finals. Ā We might have missed the finals action bit this keeps the ā€œbrandā€ front and centre.

Ā

and it gives the media something to ponder and pontificate about.

everyones happy except demonland !

Putting everything else aside, I don't think that this part is being mentioned enough by anyone at the moment. Especially the last sentence.

I actually do enjoy talking hypothetically. No way I’m taking Trac if I’m Richmond but if I’m some bizarro world They offer 1 and 9, then I’d be very tempted.Ā

The really important clarification re: Trac not being at the club and the reports about players not being happy is explained from 5:00

Totally understandable how this has been twisted.

Jake was great, next Captain?

Great interview from Jake. Think we should've trotted him out through this whole experience, would've killed the story straight away.

Melbourne Demons, Christian Petracca injuries, communication with Max Gawn, Noosa holiday, Caroline Wilson, Footy Classified

Caroline Wilson says she is "staggered" at Melbourne's communication breakdown with Christian Petracca.

It follows reports that Petracca addressed the playing group on Monday, clarifying his extended break in Noosa, his terrifying season-ending injuries suffered in round 13, as well as growing trade speculation.

There have been suggestions that Petracca had become disgruntled and disillusioned with the club.

And despite Dees skipper Max Gawn moving to shut down speculation that tension still exists between Petracca and his teammates, Wilson still has her concerns.

"I find the communication breakdown at the Melbourne football club extraordinary," Wilson said on Nine's Footy Classified on Monday night.

"What is baffling to me is that Christian Petracca addressed his teammates this morning, for the first time as a group, and talked about the trauma he suffered.

"I'm staggered that players didn't know that Christian Petracca had gone up to Noosa for a month, because he was suffering from post traumatic stress disorder, if that's what it was, or some form of stress and trauma after what had happened to him.

"If he's got all these cultural issues with the club, when he addressed the players ... I wish he'd said that. I'm told that he specifically only spoke about what he went through (with his injuries)."

Wilson also questioned why Gawn has been withholding information surrounding Petracca's health from his teammates.

"How does Max Gawn ... keep his teammates in the loop about how Christian is going? About why he's gone to Noosa?" she said.

"Petracca is their greatest player, their Norm Smith Medallist. Do you find it a bit odd? It is unusual for a footy club to not be communicating to that degree?

"This is a playing group that has won a flag together. How does the playing group not know about this situation?"

And it's not just on Gawn to be keeping the group informed, according to Matthew Lloyd.

"It's on everyone. It's on the head of football, Alan Richardson, it's on Gary Pert, the CEO," Lloyd said.

That show really is a wasteland of moronic opinions.

Just shows how much the players/club rely on Trac's energy off field as well as on field.

I hope those on DL who were quick to jump into 'lynch mob' mode take a moment to reflect on how they have maligned a champion of our beloved club.Ā  All based on very little and because they weren't prepared to give him or the club any benefit of the doubt and wait a few days.

The lack of respect to Trac as a human being (and a very good one at that) and lack of compassion for a severely injured warrior, who may have understandably had moments of doubt, has astounded and saddened me.

I truly hope we don't see that again on DL.

Richmond are heading towards the same pain that North and West Coast have been through recently. I'd expect least 2 more years of <5 wins, then another few years remaining out of finals.

Say 2025-28 are seasons of development, then they might be ready for a go at finals in 2029. Trac would be 33 heading into that season.

Good luck selling that to Trac. There is zero chance he would go to Richmond and it's pointless for Richmond to trade for him. They could use their picks to have several shots at draft a player like Petracca, plus building a team of strong role players with all the other picks.

I’m pretty sure everyone here loves having Petracca on board but if you want to air your doubts in public be prepared for some backlash. Football is an emotional business and he still hasn’t come out and said he intends to stay. I think it’s understandable for people on a discussion forum to vent their frustrations.Ā
Compared to what I hear at the football I’d say we’re mostly a well behaved lot.Ā

Until I hear from the Club/ Christian that he isn't staying I'm prepared to give both the benefit of the doubt.Ā

I haven't seen much love toward him in this thread so it would be good if folks expressed that from time to time.

Totally agree that fans vent their frustrations. The venting can be done with respect and compassion rather than vitriol and imputing all sorts of motives, jumping at shadows without any facts etc.

This isn't bigfooy!

Agreed.

However, what has increasingly Ā irked me on Demonland is how one poster's assertion or claim magically transmogrifies into "fact" and thus the pile on commences.

Jeez we need a big off season. Take the team to an overseas training facility and surround them with the very best in the business for 2 weeks. Harden and bond them in the fire of adversity. I'll read about it on a comfy chair on my verandah.

You forgot to add to the end ".... while posting on social media that the game has gone soft and that players have it easy these days."

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.
