Feels to me like the Peteacca camp is using his injury as leverage to force his way out to a big club.

If he has a grievance with the club, then he technically can leave to go to any club, not make a demand to go to a select few.

Even the complete silence into the Howie Podcast seems like it's been orchestrated to an extent to now garner more sympathy for his plight to leave.

This.

No contending club will be able to take on an average 1.5M/year contract or even 75% of it.

So this completely rules out the likes of Carlton/Pies etc. Unless they unload a Cripps type contract. Zero chance.

The only chance of him moving is to a WC or North. Surely Trac knows this?!

So what is he thinking?!

Maybe his other management group don’t understand this? There aren’t any salary caps in show business….

In what world would the MFC be paying a single cent of tracc's contract if he leaves?

In fact, if anything the dees might even be prepared to take unders in terms of what another club offers us to get his exorbitant salary of the books.

The reality is that even if tracc changes his tune and wants to stay:

- he turns 29 in January

- won't be able to put a full preseason together (he hasn't been able to do any running yet, or presumably strength work, so his fitness base must be completey eroded), which will impact his 2025 season

- has said himself he is struggling with the trauma relating to the injury

- if I was a betting man, I would offer no better than even money (ie 50 50) that tracc will ever get back to his best

- seemingly has burned bridges with his teammates (and possibly coach, and almost certainly the footy dept and board).

In short, even leaving aside the impact of him staying when he wants out, there is a very good chance we would not get value from our investment

In that context, it might be prudent  for the dees to take unders.

We will then have plenty of cash, particularly with gus' salary iff rhe books, to invest in our young guns and money to attract stars from other clubs.

However the media spin this, the MFC has the whip hand here.

If the relationship is beyond repair we may not have a choice if we want him off the list .

Sickens me that we are talking about an all-time great NS medallist to be in this situation.

I love Trac but I'm more concerned about our future if he stays now.

I guess the relevance is that his brother is working for his management team, which is a total conflict of interest?

A heap of players get managed by their parents.

Sure. Phil Scully did a stand up job.

Harley of course

Some WC fans here in Perth I know are not happy the way he is developing. He’s got to cool his head and become more disciplined. Opposition players  have worked this out and now give him a hard time.

Of course not, but if you think the way we've managed this has been acceptable then you've got rocks in your head.

Also mental health issues wasn't what I was referring to.

As far as I'm concerned, some of the foam that people were spewing here at the time was pathetic. Going to ridiculous lengths saying certain substances should be legal etc

Light needs to be shone everywhere.

If the future becomes untenable for both parties then it is possible by mutual agreement the contract is voided or highly modified to assist both parties to be rid of each other.

l mentioned this in the petracca thread ... its relevant but not sure its a seperate thread ... can't see any conflict of interest ... they both want money it would seem

As someone who works in this space I would say that without his footy talent his cooking stuff is pretty average at best. He’s not particularly charismatic on camera and offers really nothing unique or compelling in those videos aside from “footy player who also cooks food.” Without the footy, “brand Petracca” is pretty bland.

So brand Petracca now,  "Bland Petracca" later

I'm so sorry, I'll leave noe

This is only the half of it, check out who is managing his commercial affairs and branding. As an outsider looking in there are conflicts of interest in every line of management. The whole thing looks like an amateur hour balls up.

Ha you reckon team Trac is giving up $6,000,000?

Yeah, but why does it need a new thread when it is basically just a snippet of 6 month old information for the Christian Petracca thread?

Agree. The OP could have just written a post in the Petracca thread along the lines of “is anyone concerned that Trac’s brother works for his management team”?

That is, though, not the OP’s way.

For the reasons you identify, I agree Trac is no longer worth the value of his contract (and that's before factoring in his further degradation in value due to destabilising the club).

If he were a committed MFC player, I would wear the loss and support him. As we have with Oliver.

If he truly wants out, then we have an opportunity to balance our books, restore unity and regenerate an aging midfield.

It feels crazy to be writing this but it now seems a trade is best for both parties. My only concern is the ability to get an acceptable deal done.

His player agents are Connor Sports who we all know can manage their way out of a paper bag.

His newly minted commercial agent may not be as well versed in the complexities of salary caps and trade capital.

Which agent is he listening to?

Even if he decides to force a trade at well below his value he still needs to find a club he wants to go to that has the cap space to take on his contract. Both Pies and Blues would have to trade an elite player out or multiple good players out to fit his contract. Connor Sports would be telling him this.

So maybe he'll need to take a paycut to go to a club of his choice.

Or go to North. Marvel stadium has great kitchens I hear.

All I have to go by right now is this:

- Player signs 7 year extension in 2021

- Player and management would should have been all over potential scenarios and situations

- Club remunerates well at the cost of their own future and potential to bring in other players

- Player asks agent (in this case D'Orazio) if there's any way to break the contract.

If that last point is true after the preceding 3 points then said player is a lot stupider than we thought they were.

Ha, A friend divorced his wife and lost similar wealth and money. He was very happy to be rid of her for his “mental health”. From Malvern mansion to South Yarra flat and world travel became his lot. Some people put a dollar value on everything but often wealth becomes a millstone around the neck. I know it can be hard for some to find this comprehensible..

https://www.theage.com.au/sport/afl/why-petracca-s-bid-to-depart-the-demons-remains-a-long-shot-20240826-p5k5eu.html

The Age article outlines all the reasons why a trade won't happen. Another club would have to fork out a huge percentage of their salary cap and picks in order to get Petracca, who has doubts on his physical and mental fitness.

The club and players needs to make sure we can be conciliatory, because the most likely situation is we have to kiss and make up.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Port Adelaide

The undefeated Demons venture across the continent to the spiritual home of the Port Adelaide Football Club on Saturday afternoon for the inaugural match for premiership points between these long-historied clubs. Alberton Oval will however, be a ground familiar to our players following a practice match there last year. We lost both the game and Liv Purcell, who missed 7 home and away matches after suffering facial fractures in the dying moments of the game.

  • AFLW REPORT: Richmond

A glorious sunny afternoon with a typically strong Casey Fields breeze favouring the city end greeted this round four clash of the undefeated Narrm against the winless Tigers. Pre-match, the teams entered the ground through the Deearmy’s inclusive banner—"Narrm Football Weaving Communities Together and then Warumungu/Yawuru woman and Fox Boundary Rider, Megan Waters, gave the official acknowledgement of country. Any concerns that Collingwood’s strategy of last week to discombobulate the Dees would be replicated by Ryan Ferguson and his Tigers evaporated in the second quarter when Richmond failed to use the wind advantage and Narrm scored three unanswered goals.

  • CASEY: Frankston

The late-season run of Casey wins was broken in their first semifinal against Frankston in a heartbreaking end at Kinetic Stadium on Saturday night that in many respects reflected their entire season. When they were bad, they committed all of the football transgressions, including poor disposal, indiscipline, an inability to exert pressure, and some terrible decision-making, as exemplified by the period in the game when they conceded nine unanswered goals from early in the second quarter until halfway through the third term. You rarely win when you do this.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Richmond

Round four kicks off early Saturday afternoon at Casey Fields, as the mighty Narrm host the winless Richmond Tigers in the second week of Indigenous Round celebrations. With ideal footy conditions forecast—20 degrees, overcast skies, and a gentle breeze — expect a fast-paced contest. Narrm enters with momentum and a dangerous forward line, while Richmond is still searching for its first win. With key injuries on both sides and pride on the line, this clash promises plenty.

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kate’s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwood’s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.
