You obviously don’t understand how mental health works. You cannot stop it before it gets out of hand.

As for the other issue, you expect the club to know what each player is doing 24 hours pre game? Set up spy cameras perhaps?

Entirely naive if you think this is a Melbourne specific problem. He just was stupid enough to get caught. But this happens in every single club around the country.
Willie Rioli says hi. As does Stengel. And the list goes on and on.
I will say no more as I don’t want to get this site in trouble. But do your research.

I’m filthy with the club of what’s occurred since winning the flag and the missed opportunities, the handling of our off field issues with our players , Smith, Oliver and beyond. Equally Tracs on how he’s conducted himself wearing a hoodoo and basically saying I don’t want to engage ..who’s advising him??

let’s not forget Trac done his knee clowning around playing basketball when he was first drafted yet the club supported him… people have short memories of were they have come from

He broke a toe doing that, not his knee. Also he was a child when that happened lol, not sure on the relevance

And yet he wants to go to the Pies and play with Maynard. Not that surprising really giving how friendly he was with him pre KB game.

The club can't control what Petracca does but can make changes to fix the issues within. And hey, perhaps those issues contributed to an environment that led to Petracca acting in the way he is now.

Players that love the "party life" huh? Are people so blinded by loyalty they can't see what's going on here? I'm as frustrated as the next supporter about all this and think Petracca has gone about it in the wrong way and is harming himself and the club in the process but this has been brewing for a long time and the club is to blame for not addressing the issues! Supporters who blindly follow the club and let the club leaders get away with it out of misguided loyalty are a big part of the problem too.

so whatever’s going wrong at the club is our fault?

Far out.

What an absolutely ridiculous thing to say.

The club’s problems are the problems of the board, management, FD etc. Supporters being loyal doesn’t change that. Collingwood supporters didn’t cause the Do Better issue. Hawthorn supporters didn’t cause the Cyril Rioli lawsuit. Essendon supporters didn’t cause the drugs scandal.

Lazy response. How could you have stopped the Smith revelation, which came out of the blue and was taken out of our hands immediately? What would you have done differently in Clarrie's case?

Given his alleged behaviour and $1.7mill baggage, this would be a massive win for us.

Imo he either plays with us or we get rid of him for what we believe to be unders.

Clubs will be super wary of his effect on their culture

Agree, if carlton were to take on his whole contract, I wouldn't be surprised if their first round was all that was offered. Someone like Cerra could be involved, but only by necessity to clear cap space. 2 first rounders+ is dreamworld with his age and uncertainty around his response to the injury. If we paid a significant chunk of salary then trade options would open up a bit.

Even with his injury, even the hospital missed the spleen issue for hours, it's a horrible thing that's happened to him and i am glad he's getting help to deal with the associated Trauma, but using that as an excuse to try and seek a trade, but only to these couple of clubs is not going to make you very many friends.

If you're wanting to go to Carlton for professionalism and culture and winning flags, you might find very quickly the grass isn't always greener, the Blues haven't won a premiership, or even gotten close in nearly 30 years.

I think Tracc's new manager might have it's fingerprints all over these developments.

Planted the seed in Tracc's head that he can make more $$$ at another club plus bigger endorsement deals.

No such issues when he was under the tutelage of Paul Connors, I think Paul Connors was actually advising him not to go down this road.

Doesn't Trac's agent/manager (Robbie D'Orazio) work with Connors? Wonder if all of this drama will be in the next installment of Show Me the Money

If the rumours of his salary are correct we are in a world of hurt even if he goes. No club will take on that sort of contract without us paying some of it.

Problem is I reckon we'll be in more trouble if he stays after all the damage he's done and disharmony caused throughout the playing group, club and supporters.

Are you serious?

In what world would the MFC be paying a single cent of tracc's contract if he leaves?

In fact, if anything the dees might even be prepared to take unders in terms of what another club offers us to get his exorbitant salary of the books.

The reality is that even if tracc changes his tune and wants to stay:

- he turns 29 in January

- won't be able to put a full preseason together (he hasn't been able to do any running yet, or presumably strength work, so his fitness base must be completey eroded), which will impact his 2025 season

- has said himself he is struggling with the trauma relating to the injury

- if I was a betting man, I would offer no better than even money (ie 50 50) that tracc will ever get back to his best

- seemingly has burned bridges with his teammates (and possibly coach, and almost certainly the footy dept and board).

In short, even leaving aside the impact of him staying when he wants out, there is a very good chance we would not get value from our investment

In that context, it might be prudent  for the dees to take unders.

We will then have plenty of cash, particularly with gus' salary iff rhe books, to invest in our young guns and money to attract stars from other clubs.

However the media spin this, the MFC has the whip hand here.

You're kidding yourself if you think getting rid of Cerra clears enough space for Carlton to take on his contract.

The reality is that very few top clubs have a spare $1.2 million lying around in the hope that one day Trac will have a breakdown and want out.

Trades, even for middle tier players, are often planned out week, months, sometimes years in advance. You think Freo only talked to Jackson in October? You think the WA clubs have not been made aware that Shai Bolton wants out months if not 12 months ago? Hell we've been talking about Houston for a couple of months.

Clubs would have been totally blind sighted by this, and clearly so has Trac's actual management team.
To find a suitable trade to a club like Carlton or the Pies, or not only have the draft capital, but also don't have the cap space, is highly unlikely. Both these clubs would have to move a significant number of players, or a big name player, to even fit Trac in their TPP. It's a total pipe dream, unless one of those clubs is willing to burn their own contracted players.

The article in The Age today says no one has the space or capital to make a trade happen. It also states he’s not interested in going to Essendon or St Kilda.

So he’s not going anywhere, and this has all been for nothing - except massive damage to both brands?

What a debacle.

Bloos will part ways with any of Wiliams, Martin, Cerra if they need to

Firstly they can't part ways with contracted players, unless said contracted player agrees.

Secondly, those 3 players still don't net them the picks we want in return for Trac.

Let's also not forget that Carlton are preparing for finals. They are not going to bring this up with any of their players. If they get done in week 1, perhaps they will start conversations, but what happens if they make say a prelim? They will run out of time to make those deals.

Trac is a great player but how many players in their mid 20s with horrific injuries ever get back to their pre-injury form or better? I’d suggest not many if at all.

Jack Grimes and Jack Trengrove spring to mind…they were never the same after their major injuries.

I’m not sure why any club would take that risk to be honest?

Yeah, no I agree with you - my point is that Trac's actual trade value is very small compared to what might be expected for these reasons. Cerra just an example from the post I quoted.

I don't think that's right.  Surely there's no way we pay any of his salary.  We can just say no.

If he found a suitor that can satisfy us with picks and trades, he can renegotiate the contract with the new club (I'm sure they'll be happy to pay less).  If the new club want to pay less (probably because that's all they could afford) and he wants to get the same amount, we just say no.

It's the opposite situation of Grundy because the pies wanted Grundy out so had to pay a significant portion of his contract.

As I said they can trade Cerra, Williams and or Martin to free up space
