If Freo and Lions win the top 5 on ladder will be interstate teams after this week. And if it stays like that, the AFL will be rapt to have only one MCG final in the first week. Heheย

As long as Port or Brisbane dont make the GF im happy with any combination.

Geelong need to die as well.

Stoked for Hogan.ย  Has finally become the player he was destined to be. Good on him.

Would love to see the giants win it, not only because of Jesse & Bedford but because they have the best social media team.ย

Umps on a different planet.
One pays holding the ball, one pays dangerous tackle.ย
Why does dangerous tackle win out?

How will Goody be feeling watching the hawks go past us and have won 2 more games than us & pushing for finals โ€ฆ the drafting of our recycled players diabolicalย

Oh he will be ropeable because he knows he doesnt have a gameplan and is too matey with his players and makes confusing match day decisiopns, and also regrets drafting, so I guess he will be pretty upset.

Not to mention two interstate Prelims

ย

Again, the speed at which Freo play is fun to watch. They are just clinical with the ball.

Plus imagine having no Collingwood in the finals which would be perfect, but that's why I'm sure the afl want carlton in there.ย

My bad hawks one more game won, but clearly ahead of us .. there recruits looking good choicesย

Top 8 is nearly set. GWS probably just need to find one more win, albeit that's tough with Brisbane and the Dogs away and Fremantle at home. If they lose all three, Hawthorn can pass them by winning all three (Carlton, West Coast and North), and can even pass them with a loss to Carlton next week, provided they make up the percentage gap.

The other 7 sides shouldn't miss from here - Carlton and the Dogs have easy enough fixtures to win 2 more games each and get to 14 (Dogs should make it on 13 due to their percentage anyway).

How classic for us will it be if we miraculously go 3-0 from here, finish 13-10 and become the first ever (I think) side to miss finals on 13-10?

  • REPORT: Western Bulldogs

The next coach of the Melbourne Football Club faces the challenge of teaching his players how to win games against all comers. At times during this tumultuous season, that task has seemed daunting, made more so in light of the surprise news last week of the sacking of premiership coach Simon Goodwin. However, there were also some positive signs from yesterdayโ€™s match against the Western Bulldogs that the challenge may not be as difficult as one might think. The two sides presented a genuine football spectacle, featuring pulsating competitive play with eight lead changes throughout the afternoon, in a display befitting a finals match. The result could have gone either way and in the end, it came down to which team could produce the most desperate of acts to provide a winning result. It was the Bulldogs who had their season on the line that won out by a six point margin that fitted the game and the effort of both sides.

  • CASEY: Brisbane

The rain had been falling heavily in south east Queensland when the match began at Springfield, west of Brisbane. The teams exchanged early goals and then the Casey Demons proceeded like a house on fire in the penultimate game of the VFL season against a strong opponent in the Brisbane Lions. Sparked by strong play around the ground by seasoned players in Charlie Spargo and Jack Billings, a strong effort from Bailey Laurie and promising work from youngsters in Kynan Brown andย  Koltyn Tholstrup, the Demons with multiple goal kickers firing, raced to a 27 point lead late in the opening stanza. A highlight was a wonderful goal from Laurie who brilliantly sidestepped two opponents and kicked beautifully from 45 metres out.
