If the Tigers take him at 6 it could throw a spanner in the works.

Lock in Smith if he makes it to 6.

I think poor Pickett may have gotten a tad over excited that afternoon.. 😳

In all seriousness, I am one of JT's biggest fan, he's a screwed operator. I just hope we get the desired outcome that our list needs.

Who screwed him????😉

Queens of the Stone Age - No one knows

Listened to Gettable.

Lindsay was interviewed - his manager says he is right in the mix for our pick.

Adelaide list boss was interviewed - says they have been locked in for a few days, but it was a close call.  Very little to split the top group, which they think includes Kako and Tauru. Said Draper and FOS struggled in the carnival as they came undercooked due to injury, which made it hard to compete.  Said they came good at the end of the year.

Also said they didn't need a big bodied midfielder as they have Dawson and Curtain, who they think could be a midifielder.

Said they were interviewing one other player today, which could alter who they picked.  Wouldn't reveal who - but maybe Tauru?  He said Tauru was absolutely amongst the best "four or five" players in the draft.

Sounds like they like Draper, but its a pretty line ball call. Seems like the other two in the frame are Langford and Tauru.

If we are 50/50 with Allan, we can swap 5 for their 6 and plus one of 18, 23 or 24 all likely to attract nice offers as the draft unfolds.

24 is a very nice pick at the start of round 2 and usually in high demand and attracts a premium.  Probably an extra premium this year with the likelihood of a few sliders.

Wouldn't be against this as I expect that we can still get a very, very good player with one of their later picks. I think it likely comes down to how much we rate Allan and if we're of the opinion that he won't be there at Pick 9, and we're set on using Pick 5 elsewhere, it makes a fair bit of sense. Of course, the other side of the coin is that Richmond would likely need to be spooked into thinking that Allan could go to us at 5, otherwise surely they'd just use 6 on him?

Sorry do you mean they are looking to move one of their later picks down so they can move 10/11 up ahead of us to get Allan? Like for example they trade 10/11 & 20/23/24 to Saints for 8 & 32?

Feels like a win for both teams as Tiges get their guy with Allan and still maintain 8 picks inside the first 2 rounds, Saints will still get their guy might’ve been picking anyway in Lindsay or Berry and move up to put themselves in the range to grab a mid like Hynes or a tall like Trainor who is similar to Tauru.

That's my understanding mate. Lot of reporting coming through that Tigers will have plenty of offers for those later picks too, given that there's likely going to be a few sliders this year and depth of the first round is deep. Tigers are in great position this year to get very creative.

The Tigers are the bachelorette tonight and tomorrow, they are going to be approached by a lot of men wanting the same thing

Reading Langford’s body language on gettable makes me think that he’s going to Adelaide. He looks really flat. Makes me think that he knows that he’s moving interstate. I really hope that I’m completely wrong with this.

Maybe, looks like a nervous kid to me.

Mentioned melbourne a couple times and said he would fit in there well with his previous experience from pre-ssason. Curiously Koltyn Tholstrup has reached out to him I  the last couple days. Not sure there's much to read into that.

My take

1: Lalor

2: Ashcroft (bid)

3: Fos

4: Draper

5: Langford

6: Smith (our pick)

7: Smillie

8: Tauru

9: Travaglia

10: Lindsey (our pick)

11: Kako (bid)

12: Allan

what I want

Our first pick  Langford or smith

Second pick Reid or Lindsey

The good thing about having pick 5 is that in the event someone calls out Langford ahead of us, we get a chance to pick another quality midfielder, possibly Draper or Smillie who was once a contender for higher selection.

We are actually very likely to pick Tauru at 5 in that scenario as mentioned by Twomey and others.

I secretly hope it ends that way although I would love Langford in addition to Tauru. Guess we can only hope!!

This guy follows the draft fairly closely.

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kate’s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwood’s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.

  • CASEY: Williamstown

The Casey Demons issued a strong statement to the remaining teams in the VFL race with a thumping 76-point victory in their Elimination Final against Williamstown. This was the sixth consecutive win for the Demons, who stormed into the finals from a long way back with scalps including two of the teams still in flag contention. Senior Coach Taylor Whitford would have been delighted with the manner in which his team opened its finals campaign with high impact after securing the lead early in the game when Jai Culley delivered a precise pass to a lead from Noah Yze, who scored his first of seven straight goals for the day. Yze kicked his second on the quarter time siren, by which time the Demons were already in control. The youngster repeated the dose in the second term as the Seagulls were reduced to mere

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Collingwood

Narrm time isn’t a standard concept—it’s the time within the traditional lands of Narrm, the Woiwurrung name for Melbourne. Indigenous Round runs for rounds 3 and 4 and is a powerful platform to recognise the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in sport, community, and Australian culture. This week, suburban footy returns to the infamous Victoria Park as the mighty Narrm take on the Collingwood Magpies at 1:05pm Narrm time, Sunday 31 August. Come along if you can.

The Dees demolished the Saints in a comprehensive 74-pointshellacking.  We filled our boots with percentage — now a whopping 520.7% — and sit atop the AFLW ladder. Melbourne’s game plan is on fire, and the competition is officially on notice.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

It was yet another disappointing outcome in a disappointing year, with Melbourne missing the finals for the second consecutive season. Indeed, it wasn’t even close, as the Demons' tally of seven wins was less than half the number required to rank among the top eight teams in the competition. When the dust of the game settled and supporters reflected on Melbourne's  six-point defeat at the hands of close game specialists Collingwood, Max Gawn's words about his team’s unfulfilled potential rang true … well, almost.
