So you are the Club leak then Saty!

Of course AFL coaches would be concerning themselves with what was written on a fan forum.

Of course the club monitors this site, there was another incident where the coaches were looking for a particular poster to have an open and frank discussion.

The talk coming from that, obviously from people who would have at least some what of an idea of what's happening at the moment, is very much that Oliver will be held to contract and won't be traded.

I believe this. I also believe it to be true about Petracca. That doesn't confirm whether those two players actually want out of the club or not.

I think this thread could go down as one of the worst DL threads ever. So much BS, so much anger and arguing over things we know so little about, so much disrespect. In a lot of posts it is simply toxic.
We lost one of my favourite posters due to the disrespectful posting, and DL is now much worse for her loss, no matter whether you thought of her as a “happy clapper”, a breath of fresh air, or simply deranged (my favourite).
Let’s not lose anyone else. We can do a whole lot better.

Unfortunately that has always been this forum, as I have pointed out a few times, there is a small cohort on here who 'demand' that there opinion is correct, most times not backing up why, and if you don't agree you are delusional, a happy clapper etc etc.

Easiest way to make sure you rule, is to bully others off the forum, or bore them to death so they take a break for a couple of years like I did.

I returned hoping it had changed, how wrong I was, the same cohort still ruling the roost.

All this source nonsense reminds of an episode a few years ago when I used to attend training regularly.

I discussed with the coaches, who were a bit sick of some of the interesting posts on here, and like myself looking for a bit of amusement so I posted something in a training report which was complete [censored] about a player.

The next day there it was being reported by a so called journalist word for word.

I would seriously question the judgment of a coach that was bothered about anything that gets written here. Don't they have more important things to deal with?

This is on point. If WCW, however kind and caring she may be, has hung up the index finger for good we are all the better for it. I mean this in the nicest possible way.

If they did/do won’t truly be relevant for at least a year though.
They’ll want to put their best foot forward even if they do want a trade to make sure clubs maintain interest and our club will be doing everything it can to provide the best environment so they stay.
Even then they and we will have the same dilemma in a year if the club wants to hold them to their contracts.

Looks like the Bulldogs will have to accept one first rounder which means Geelong can offer us their future first plus a percentage of his wage

Yes,, but they get derailed from the more important stuff, like other members of the Club's staff, trying to stop the noise created by the click baiters, better to stop it at one of the sources. If you look through many threads on this board, you can cross reference some of the comments to articles (which is me being polite) created by the click baiters, hence the experiment a couple of years ago.

For those of you who get annoyed by posters on here, but still want to contribute, I developed a coping mechanism a few years back that helps keep it all fun.

I imagine certain posters as fictional characters. One is George Costanza, another is Eeyore from the Winnie the Pooh books, and another is Dwight from the Office. Then when I read their posts it makes me laugh, and helps me remember they are just people.

Whatever you need to do to stick around I reckon. This place needs all the opinions, but it’s the most fun when nobody takes it too seriously.

Is it only unreadable because the rumours are seen as negative towards the MFC? Are you ok with people posting that we are still actively trying to recruit Wade Derksen, even though Jason McCartney has publicly shut down any move?

Whilst the powers that be at the MFC have shut down Oliver being traded, I've no doubt that Oliver's management are still in discussion with the Cats to get a reasonable trade proposal on the table. And I'm sure that's where PF's rumour is coming from. If it doesn't eventuate, it doesn't mean that his rumour was incorrect.

I largely agree with you that it’s possible the club is saying no and Geelong and Clayton’s management are still trying. They are welcome to present offers, I don’t think anyone has a problem with that, I also think MFC’s public statements have gone so far now that there’s no way it can happen, regardless of the offer but let’s see.

The Derksen Oliver comparison is pretty erroneous though. Derksen is not guaranteed any senior games at GWS, Oliver is first choice mid for us when fit. Derksen has a young family that he wants to move home to MFC, Oliver would live in essentially the same city and isn’t moving for family reasons. Derksen has one year remaining on a relatively low contract at GWS, while MFC had reportedly offered 3 years at a higher rate offering more job security. Oliver is set for life on his wage at the Dees. They’re pretty different cases.

I don’t think anyone has a problem with clubs chasing players or making offers. But leaking through the media, applying pressure to a club through the media, continuing this after a club’s President and list manager had stated it’s not happening and your list manager has put it to bed. That’s pretty disrespectful, I’d be pretty unhappy if we were doing that. As far as I can see Lamb has said we’re interested in Derksen but he’s contracted. No meetings on farms, cleaning out lockers, calls for the removal of CEOs, ignoring President’s statements. It’s pretty wildly different and a false equivalence.

I also like that clubs are finally holding players to their contracts. It might finally restore some balance in the trading system.

Of course not, i like a good debate or mature argument

I just don’t like posters that dominate threads with nonsense and belligerently repeat the same thing over and over and bait others into pointless arguments

Also when they get called out, play the victim rather than learning from it.

My last comment was tongue in cheek, of course people can reply to whatever they wish

It is highly problematic if two of your highest paid players are only gearing up because they are locked in long term and can't get a suitable trade happening. You can spin it but it is not a great outcome for the MFC. They may turn it around and fall back in love with the club but chances are it is more destabilising than not.

Are you really this thin skinned? Every time someone expresses dissatisfaction with the club's decisions you just resort to cheap personal attacks.

  • REPORT: St. Kilda

When looking back at the disastrous end to the game, I find it a waste of time to concentrate on the final few moments when utter confusion reigned. Forget the 6-6-6 mess, the failure to mark the most dangerous man on the field, the inability to seal the game when opportunities presented themselves to Clayton Oliver, Harry Petty and Charlie Spargo, the vision of match winning players of recent weeks in Kozzy Pickett and Jake Melksham spending helpless minutes on the interchange bench and the powerlessness of seizing the opportunity to slow the tempo of the game down in those final moments.

  • CASEY: Sandringham

The Casey Demons rebounded from a sluggish start to manufacture a decisive win against Sandringham in the final showdown, culminating a quarter century of intense rivalry between the fluctuating alignments of teams affiliated with AFL clubs Melbourne and St Kilda, as the Saints and the Zebras prepare to forge independent paths in 2026. After conceding three of the first four goals of the match, the Demons went on a goal kicking rampage instigated by the winning ruck combination of Tom Campbell with 26 hitouts, 26 disposals and 13 clearances and his apprentice Will Verrall who contributed 20 hitouts. This gave first use of the ball to the likes of Jack Billings, Bayley Laurie, Riley Bonner and Koltyn Tholstrup who was impressive early. By the first break they had added seven goals and took a strong grip on the game. The Demons were well served up forward early by Mitch Hardie and, as the game progressed, Harry Sharp proved a menace with a five goal performance. Emerging young forwards Matthew Jefferson and Luker Kentfield kicked two each but the former let himself down with some poor kicking for goal.
Young draft talent Will Duursma showed the depth of his talent and looks well out of reach for Melbourne this year. Kalani White was used sparingly and had a brief but uneventful stint in the ruck.
