Oliver Trade Rumours

I keep hearing Kitty Litter from a well connected mate of mine🤮

Yes Geelong have shown interest in him. Good for them. Please tell me what Geelong could possibly offer Melbourne, in order to trade a contracted Clarry?

The club has no interest in trading him. Has Clarry suddenly decided he is over the club and wants to live on a farm? Because if that’s the case then Geelong is going to have to come up with a godfather offer to pry him away from our cold dead hands.

I am also interested in Charlie Curnow and a million dollars.

But Jaded, kornes says we're gonna give up our 1st rounder just to get rid of him

It’s gonna be Clarry and our first round pick and in return we get to never play in Geelong again.

What's the big call Mark?

Drop him? Who's coming in and performing better?

Trade him? For what?

Assuming he isn't still an off field liability, the club and sensible supporters know exactly why his output is down. It shouldn't take much work for someone who's paid to cover the game to realise why that might be, either.

Chook Fowler trade rumours - I’m on the open market.

Perhaps we could trade you to the Saints for an ageing Molly Meldrum?

A 2nd round pick and we only have to pay 200k a year of the contract and I’m happy to move on.

Just like Grundy at the pies, sometimes you have to pay to get away from a bad deal even if you know it will hurt you.

At the right price we'd be silly not to assess what potentially could benefit this club from a salary point of view and draft capital for future potential targets such as Finn Callaghan or a Harley Reid.

Seems to have turned the corner from a mental and or physical health perspective which derailed his off season, he was never going to be at his best this year, why would we trade him now, were people not expecting this?

Gee I wish he was playing as well as people on here think he can

We have seen his best downhill beckons

Was no where near it today

Plenty of senior players just as bad as Oliver today. Including players who have had a pre season.

Please stop referring to the preseason

It's tiresome

Hypothetically speaking, if Clarry returns to his best, does he help or hinder our future team?

I think if we front up next year with Trac, Clarry and Viney as our starting mids, we will see results more like 2024 than 2021.

The midfield mix that Freo had today was streets ahead of ours in terms of speed, skill and two way running. Including Andy Brayshaw, who isn’t known for his disposal by foot

Ahead of the season many of us were contemplating 2024 without Clayton playing a game. The fact that he's played most matches and most importantly appears happy, healthy and engaged, is well ahead of expectations. If he can keep that up and then complete a strong preseason, he'll be back and firing in 2025. He ain't going anywhere.

Ok let’s refer to his nasty hand injury then 🙄

Not having a pre season, has a monumental impact on performance

Will you call for Trac to be traded if he struggles next year?

I’d probably lower the eyes and aim for someone who wouldn’t be the best non Steven May recruit we’ve landed in decades. But the way I see it you can only carry maybe 3-5 mega deals at any time and if a player isn’t playing too it you’re better off moving on if you can.

And these long free agency deals are meant to be bargains for 4-5 years when a guy is 30 or under and then a tax at the end. Like Lynch and Dusty at Richmond now. Anyone want to pay Oliver - even on his best behaviour - 900k at 32/33?

That said, a lot depends on information we just don’t have as fans.

No way I’d trade Clarry, but ffs he has to be held accountable for his performances this year - particularly today. Doesn’t defend, doesn’t tackle, doesn’t chase, and is an appalling kick. He needs to be dropped - not because there might be someone better to replace him (although after yesterdays effort, Pup deserves his spot), but to give Clarry a wake up call.

    GOOD MORNING by Meggs

If you are driving or training it to Cranbourne on Saturday, don’t forget to set your alarm clock. The Melbourne Demons play the reigning premiers Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields this Saturday, with the bounce of the ball at 11:05am.  Yes, that’s AM.   The AFLW fixture shows deference to the AFL men’s finals games.  So, for the men it’s good afternoon and good evening and for the women it’s good morning.     The Lions were wounded last week by 44 points, their highest ever los

    HORE ON FIRE by Meggs

The 40,000 seat $319 million redeveloped Kardinia Park Stadium was nowhere near capacity last night but the strong, noisy contingent of Melbourne supporters led by the DeeArmy journeyed to Geelong to witness a high-quality battle between two of the best teams in AFLW.   The Cats entered the arena to the blasting sounds of Zombie Nation and made a hot start kicking the first 2 goals. They brought tremendous forward half pressure, and our newly renovated defensive unit looked shaky.

    REMATCH by Meggs

The Mighty Demons take on the confident Cats this Saturday night at the recently completed $319 million redeveloped GMHBA Stadium, with the bounce of the ball at 7:15pm. Our last game of 2023 was an agonisingly close 5-point semi-final loss to Geelong, and we look forward to Melbourne turning the tables this week. Practice match form was scratchy for both teams with the Demons losing practice matches to Carlton and Port Adelaide, while the Cats beat Collingwood but then lost to Essendo

    WELCOME 2024 by Meggs

It’s been hard to miss the seismic global momentum happening in Women’s sport of late. The Matildas have been playing to record sell-out crowds across Australia and ‘Mary Fowler is God’ is chalked onto footpaths everywhere. WNBA basketball rookie sensation Caitlin Clark has almost single-handedly elevated her Indiana Fever team to unprecedented viewership, attendances and playoffs in the USA.   Our female Aussie Paris 2024 Olympians won 13 out of Australia’s all-time record 18 gol

    EPILOGUE by Whispering Jack

I sit huddled in near darkness, the only light coming through flickering embers in a damp fireplace, the room in total silence after the thunderstorm died. I wonder if they bothered to restart the game.  No point really. It was over before it started. The team’s five star generals in defence and midfield ruled out of the fray, a few others missing in action against superior enemy firepower and too few left to fly the flag for the field marshal defiantly leading his outnumbered army int

    POSTGAME: Rd 24 vs Collingwood

The Dees played insipid, error riddled & uninspiring footy all night and in a lightning delayed match they eventually succumbed to Collingwood by 46 points at the MCG in the final game of the year. Thank God this season is finally over. Bring on 2025.
