Is this necessary?

Were she was a hairdresser would you have felt the need to describe her as such?

What?

Explain what's so negative about what I just said..

I made the supermodel reference purely because I thought she was Melbourne based and that she would be tied up with all the fashion model shoots that is popular within the Melbourne lifestyle. Melbourne is the heart of all this stuff.

My reasoning would be perhaps that I would be hoping she wouldn't want to leave Melbourne due to her work commitments which is being a model as I stated.

Maybe Essendon and Geelong would be interested in having Clarrie but it matters not coz CLAZ AIN’T GOIN ANYWHERE!

Those on here who’d like to see Clarrie traded out need to build a bridge etc.

Never fear, PF. You’ll be goin’ all Clarrie Choo Choo on us for a loooong time. 😁

Don't worry WCW Next to ROBBY, THE CHOO CHOO TRAIN is my favourite DEMON! 😇

Fritsch's most noticeable grand final goals came from leading up at the footy, jumping over opponents or on the back of great pressure from the likes of Kossie and Spargo.

It's great there were goal sneaks in 1963 or whenever those guys played but Fritsch has been dining out on the grand final for 3 years now.

You are making my argument for me: re Kossie and Spargo. Fritsch is a finisher. And it's easy to kick a player/team when they are down.

I know he is and I’m guessing you don’t like all this talk about him being traded. You don’t have to worry about it. Trust me, he’s not going anywhere.

Likewise Fritta’s not going anywhere, and as for Riv, I’ve not heard anything about him wanting to leave until today but I doubt it very much.

Keep it up. The Rivers one certainly catches me by surprise considering how settled he is in Melbourne with his supermodel Melbourne based girlfriend.

Very big off season coming up for the dees.

I would hold your horses on this one dazzle. All I can see is him saying Langdon's re-signing was imminent, and that was well after Sam Edmund tweeted it.

Would love if we could get some more ITN posters on here like goodwindees and ChookinPerth, but there's a reason those two stay quiet most of the time.

Jesus who cares.. you're literally only person on here who questioned it.

Out of all footy conversations that is happening in this thread you nit pick the smallest of detail when I was describing someone's employment and that impact that could have in player movement.

Except you DIDN’T do this ⬆️ in your first post. I questioned the necessity and you explained it in a subsequent post. I thanked you for explaining it. Should’ve ended there. It didn’t end there. Hopefully it ends now.

First I’ve heard of it. Maybe @Deez21 could back up this assertion with source/facts etc (?)

As for Clarrie… folks need to get used to it that he’s NOT going anywhere. He won’t be traded. It can and probs will still be debated but it’s moot.

Fritsch? Also not going anywhere. Rumours are exactly that… rumours. He and Nat wouldn’t even entertain the thought of leaving Coldstream let alone moving to another state.

Every now and then we get new posters around the end of season and trade period spouting ‘mail’ about trades.

A few years ago someone was banging on how we were 100% getting Isaac Smith, people fell for it. The guy was pretty much trollng and hasn’t been seen since.
This might turn out true, but certainly  not going to fall in love with someone after just one week of posting. The media pretty much knew about Langdon’s signing before it was announced.

Pretty sure it's been confirmed Smith was almost across the line with us and then decided on Geelong late.

He made a joke about it on the radio how after the prelim we belted them and how it cost him another flag and money because he took less at Geelong.

I don't think Rivers leaves.

I'm still a big watch on the Oliver situation, in my opinion his contract is too big to take on but I don't think it stops clubs asking the question.

That might be the case but I remember this particular poster pretty much admitted to trolling us on the matter.

I'd be surprised if Houston isn't a dee next year. 2 firsts is very steep for me but I don't think the club are worried about firsts right now with the picks they would get for Clarry, and dare I say a certain new converted midfielder who wants to go back home to WA

I disagree however, the draft is steep this year and look at the impact Windsor has had at the club. We could stay in our premiership window and rebuild at the same time like good clubs do, and like we did getting in Jackson and Pickett

I'd hate for the club to discard 2 first picks for a 28 year old

Rivers was very strong in his interviews post-moving into the midfield that he was settled in Melbourne. I'd be amazed if he moved.

My gut feel on Oliver is it sits on a knifes edge, the club is backing him, but if he slips up i think he'll be traded. I am sure there are some within Olivers camp that probably think a fresh start might even be the right thing for him.

I personally hope he has a full pre season and bounces back to his best next year, but i think we as a club will be okay regardless of which way this one goes.

Rivers signed on till 2027 only just last year. I get the “every player is gettable” nature of AFL contracts these days, but how would a deal with a WA team play out in this scenario?

If he slips while sitting on a knife's edge, being traded will be the least of his problems.

You’re kidding right?

If supporters & the club are ok with a 3x AA, 4x B&F, 2x AFL Coaches Award, the club is a shambles.

One bad year in 9 at the club, I’ll be backing him in, if the club won’t, they won’t be getting any of my hard earned money

Clarry is the best since Robbie F

It's not one bad year though, it's documented long term behavioral issues and an inability to reach club standards over several years, it's been excused because of his quality as a player, but the club decided to put culture first and pull him into line.

If after all of that we decide to revert back to just allowing the standards to slip what i can guarantee you is we will lose some of our really good players like Petracca, Lever and so on who were fed up with it, and additionally any chance of building the kind of culture Gary Pert dreamed that we had will be exactly zero.

It doesn't matter how good the player is, if they don't want to do the right things, they need to go.

I personally hope Clarry has turned a corner and he will be back to his best in 2024, but i absolutely stand by the common sense assertion that if he hasn't, the club should and i suspect will look to trade him. All indications as of right now are that he's made significant progress and he should be incredibly proud.

Do you have any inside info that Clarry and Rivers will be traded or are you just speculating?

We would be full rebuild mode if they both leave

No info they WILL be traded

Clarry - absolutely kidding yourselves if you don't think the club will explore trade options. He's a distraction and has a big contract. I doubt he leaves - I can't see a team giving up a good pick AND taking his contract and we won't accept less. Clarry not keen on leaving either

Rivers - Won't leave now. he's open and honest to the club about homesickness, so wouldn't rule it out when it's time to cash in or lose out. He's committed for 4 years so we have time to sort this out.

The club has played the Rivers situation beautifully.

In 2020 they let him go home for lockdown and do his fitness there. He came back at the end of the carnival of footy and was great.

Moved him into the midfield just as he was starting to question whether it would happen.

They let him go home regularly and kept it out the media.

Rivers is very happy in Melbourne but if you've met someone from WA ever, you'll now the love never leaves and certainly something he'd explore later on in his career. Nothing to worry about in the immediate future.

One thing I've learnt on this site while lurking for a while is how combative people are against those trying to give some info. Especially when that info is so clearly spot on

Edmund said almost done - and a few days later I said IMMINENT about an hour before he signed.

Re Houston - I have no idea if it gets done, but I would be surprised if it doesn't. But the club doesn't know either because if it comes down to really having to give up 2 PICKS in the first, they might need to reconsider their plan to get him, and whether Oliver actually is tradeable etc. We don't know pick numbers either until the season is over so things are moving and changing all the time.

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
