The Demonland Podcast will not be LIVE again this week. Binman will do his regular stats files segment for the game against the Bombers and will also preview the upcoming match against the Dockers. He will not be taking any questions.

I will post the show here once I receive Binman's stats files. You can also find it wherever you get your podcasts from.

We will return in our regular format once I return after the Dockers match.

I'm going to debut the binman Unleashed segment- a blatant rip off cornes' volcano.

Just got to decide what makes me most angry.

There's more than a few options.

Go redleggers.

I know Binners loves his stats so riddle me this.....

( Not knocking the team on their epic win but).....

We lost the tackle, marking, handball, kicks, i50s, frees, and hit outs.

And apart from some junk time goals and some questionable umpire calls, it was a big win.

Apart from goals what stats did we win that facilitated it?

Edit.....we did win the clearances...my apologies. Credit to a great second half from Oliver and a cracking first from Rivers.ย

Ed Langdon turned back the clock providing that width and overlap we all love. He has to be one of the greatest athletes we've ever seen in the game and nearly 16km covered on a wet night is seriously impressive.ย

The Olympics are around the corner and my question for the panel is a fun hypothetical: What Olympic track event would Ed Langdon excel in most? Sprints? Middle distance? Marathons? keen to hear from you guys on this.

How about the media hype about Draper's game? The media make it sound like he single-handedly carried the Bombers, whereas from my perspective, his ruck dominance made no difference at all. The main reason they were ahead in the first quarter was their ability to get over the back of our defence, not Draper's influence.

But I will of course understand if you are more worked up about the umpires' performance, particularly in the last few minutes.

Oh and if Disco's form remains this hot, does that mean we have a Disco Inferno? ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

The Binman Rubbish Dump?

The Binman Rubbish Dump?

Not bad.

I could recycle all my pet hates and bad jokes.

Binman, I want to know what we would get for Max when we trade him away. Clearly, he is surplus to requirements now. Perhaps we could get two power forwards, a Brownlow mid-fielder and a couple of Hibberd/Jetta-style defenders? No, wait, I AM joking. It was a terrific performance by the team on Saturday night. They snuffed out the Bombers' surge in the first quarter and then stemmed Essendon's fourth quarter surge - perhaps less emphatically. I'm just curious about how much the weather helped us. Wet weather is generally considered a leveller, bringing more highly skilled teams down a peg or two. I'm not very confident about beating Freo in the dry. Tell me I'm wrong. Please.

I'm sure you will cover off all the many positivesย  of our youngsters who are leading the way in the last few weeks

but can you talk to some of the negatives in particular of a couple of players who have not got going this year.

Tom Sparrow - what is his role I genuinely don't know 12-13 possessions each week , I barely notice him in game and when I do it's because he is slow to move the ball.

Christian Salem -ย  just seems to be only, receiving a non threatening pass, then proceed to kick a non threataning pass to a player player 20m metres away , been down massively since the highs of 2021

Jake Bowey - I know he has ben injured but has been a liability in defence at times with his size, and his kicking has not been a weapon this year.

I guess they stay in due to not really having anyone ready to go showing good form @ Casey.

What do you guys think? of their game / years and who can come in??

Who plays on Luke Jackson when heโ€™s forward of centre? How much will Freoโ€™s fortunes rest on his performance?

Luke had 20 disposals and a goal against the Hawks in a losing game and I worry he could be very damaging if he gets going on Sunday.ย

I presume he is playing a role - binman, do you have access to his pressure ratings? Is that what he is doing? ย Not every player is going to need 30 disposals and a few goals.ย

TMAC, his running ability means he matches up well with mobile talls.ย

The forward is starting to look really settled and itโ€™s the best itโ€™s looked in a while, with the form of Turner , Roo and the return of Melksham, who is a definite leader up there and also frees up Fritter. (Kozzie in career best form too)

Do you think itโ€™s the best set up weโ€™ve had in a long time and do you give kudos to the coaches for sticking with youth not only in the forward line but with the confidence and continuing development of Windsor and Roo, McVee AMW and the Kolt?.

Rivers has been a revelation the middle and will give us an extra string to our bow and our mid rotations in years to come.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Richmond

Round four kicks off early Saturday afternoon at Casey Fields, as the mighty Narrm host the winless Richmond Tigers in the second week of Indigenous Round celebrations. With ideal footy conditions forecastโ€”20 degrees, overcast skies, and a gentle breeze โ€” expect a fast-paced contest. Narrm enters with momentum and a dangerous forward line, while Richmond is still searching for its first win. With key injuries on both sides and pride on the line, this clash promises plenty.

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kateโ€™s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwoodโ€™s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.

  • CASEY: Williamstown

The Casey Demons issued a strong statement to the remaining teams in the VFL race with a thumping 76-point victory in their Elimination Final against Williamstown. This was the sixth consecutive win for the Demons, who stormed into the finals from a long way back with scalps including two of the teams still in flag contention. Senior Coach Taylor Whitford would have been delighted with the manner in which his team opened its finals campaign with high impact after securing the lead early in the game when Jai Culley delivered a precise pass to a lead from Noah Yze, who scored his first of seven straight goals for the day. Yze kicked his second on the quarter time siren, by which time the Demons were already in control. The youngster repeated the dose in the second term as the Seagulls were reduced to mere

Narrm time isnโ€™t a standard conceptโ€”itโ€™s the time within the traditional lands of Narrm, the Woiwurrung name for Melbourne. Indigenous Round runs for rounds 3 and 4 and is a powerful platform to recognise the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in sport, community, and Australian culture. This week, suburban footy returns to the infamous Victoria Park as the mighty Narrm take on the Collingwood Magpies at 1:05pm Narrm time, Sunday 31 August. Come along if you can.

The Dees demolished the Saints in a comprehensive 74-pointshellacking. ย We filled our boots with percentage โ€” now a whopping 520.7% โ€” and sit atop the AFLW ladder. Melbourneโ€™s game plan is on fire, and the competition is officially on notice.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

It was yet another disappointing outcome in a disappointing year, with Melbourne missing the finals for the second consecutive season. Indeed, it wasnโ€™t even close, as the Demons' tally of seven wins was less than half the number required to rank among the top eight teams in the competition. When the dust of the game settled and supporters reflected on Melbourne's ย six-point defeat at the hands of close game specialists Collingwood, Max Gawn's words about his teamโ€™s unfulfilled potential rang true โ€ฆ well, almost.ย
