Thought Langdon could've won it for us, but again he is a terrible shot for goal when he is on the run. He has no composure. Petty kept veering left with his shots on goal. Please get KPF like Roo who take their time to line up and don't toss the ball up as the walk in for a set shot.

Check out Jeffo's set shot routine! calm, composed, methodical and accurate!

If we play like that and improve a few things to finish games we'll make the 8. Rather have us underdogs in an elimination final. Well smash the eagles this week.

I think we are elimination final specialists. We have a very good record in them from memory.
Making finals would be great for some of the youngsters.

In K.Brown , Fullerton  Out Petty if injured or Tomlinson , CHANDLER or FRITSCH ( one of these two to be sub). Cannot see us losing anymore matches. Bowey and Salem if fit to play for Casey.

AMW retains his spot effectively replacing Rivers who has moved into the mid. Depending on match ups Salem or Bowey if fit for Tomlinson.

With May, Tomlinson and TMc all hitting the wrong side of 30 i would be giving Jeffo a go in the seniors later this year. In the next couple of years either Turner or Petty may have to go back to cover for retirements/delisting.

For mine, an elimination final and a shot as underdogs to get the finals monkey off our back is worth playing for, and a finals win from here is a fantastic result all things considered.

Please please please let that be against Brisbane. It would make this season almost worth it

Friday to Sunday week should give Petty time to recover unless it's another serious injury.

JVR the same. We desperately need guys that take their chances in the forward half.

Usually Fritta would, but ever since that ankle injury pre finals 2023, his set shots have not been as reliable as previous. Petty the same.

I wonder whether those ankles for Fritta and Petty mean they will return to their accuracy once truly through their injuries?

Turner is a solid shot at goal too.

If Petty can't work through his mental demons in front of goal, move him back in 2025 and play JVR, Turner, Jefferson, Fritta with smalls around them. Kozzy and Trac around them can be a potent forwardline in time.

Salem for Woey IMO, otherwise no change.

Casey play the Lions in Brisbane on Saturday.

Will definitely be a weakened Casey team to say the least

Whether he is available or not, don't be fooled by a few marks he did take. His form has been attrocious, and given his woeful shots on goal, needs a rest. Time to see what Jeffo can do IMO

Cool!!

Salem for Woewodin, perhaps Bowey for Tomlinson if we want to go with less height down back. Raffle off between pup, Woewodin and Laurie for sub.

Also good for any of the young ones who weren’t there in 21-23

Moniz, Jefferson if he plays etc

mcgovern just copped a big hit right on 3/4 time too

i still can't see how we will win given that we lost to them with a far superior 23 several weeks ago and...

...my mfcss is sooooooooo strong

The location of the game will make a significant difference

This WCE outfit looks horrible today v Hawks

Surely in Melbourne, and with a bit of time put into Reid and Yeo, we can turn this into a % booster

Perhaps time to Blood a second ruckman? Maybe sub Max out early for a bit of a rest...

Does Petty get "Managed" ?

If we’re any solid chance of finals we’re going to realistically need to win by 10 goals and get our percentage to 105. Our percentage isn’t viable at the moment.

Whether we can put the foot on the throat for 4 quarters is questionable.

Who cares !

Exactly, seasons finished, believe or not but Hawthorn are 2% behind us, I don’t give a rats toss bag what happens this week, we’re gonna finish 12th anyway

I wonder if Goodwin feels pressure to go all in for the finals or is comfortable enough to continue to blood new players.

Our list is in need of continued development to see what we have in the tool bag for 2025.

We aren’t going to win it all this year, 2 of our top 3 players who are also 2 of the top 10 in the league have had their seasons compromised and our new game plan was not successful.

Play some more youngsters in different positions (Bowey to mid/fwd, McVee to mid, Howes to mid/fwd), debut Jefferson and give the kids extended runs. This would necessitate loading the backline with senior players, something I am a-ok with.

We can continue to tweak the style of play as we still have enough quality in our senior players to do so.

Load up on 2025. Bank another top 10 draft pick. Throw the cheque book at somebody good.

Didn’t we just play West Coast? (Or was that just some bad dream?)

Our last loss to them changed the course of our season

Hopefully our next win can do the same

Gee wwsw, your MFCSS is truely fierce!  Based on what they put up against the Hawks on their own dung heap tonight, if we can’t beat them at the ’G’ next weekend, then we really are in poor shape!

we may well be unfortunately but a win should be easy but then again I thought North etc would be easy

  • REPORT: North Melbourne

I suppose that I should apologise for the title of this piece, but the temptation to go with it was far too great. The memory of how North Melbourne tore Melbourne apart at the seams earlier in the season and the way in which it set the scene for the club’s demise so early in the piece has been weighing heavily upon all of us. This game was a must-win from the club’s perspective, and the team’s response was overwhelming. The 36 point win over Alastair Clarkson’s Kangaroos at the MCG on Sunday was indeed — roovenge of the highest order!

  • CASEY: Werribee

The Casey Demons remain in contention for a VFL finals berth following a comprehensive 76-point victory over the Werribee Tigers at Whitten Oval last night. The caveat to the performance is that the once mighty Tigers have been raided of many key players and are now a shadow of the premiership-winning team from last season. The team suffered a blow before the game when veteran Tom McDonald was withdrawn for senior duty to cover for Steven May who is ill.  However, after conceding the first goal of the game, Casey was dominant from ten minutes in until the very end and despite some early errors and inaccuracy, they managed to warm to the task of dismantling the Tigers with precision, particularly after half time when the nominally home side provided them with minimal resistance.
