As always we don’t seem to be in the hunt for any big name players .. what is it about our club yet you hear cats, pies, even the saints seem to be in the hunt

wtf are you talking about

this year we were near certs to get houston - the best player looking to move clubs by some margin - until such a time as our season collapsed in on itself

there's not that many 'big names' looking to move clubs; in truth, there rarely is

you said "As always we don’t seem to be in the hunt for any big name players"

except we are, virtually every year

just posting rubbish

Could the Dees put an offer to Deven Robertson.  He’s under contract at Lions but with Lions having Neale, McCluggage, Rayner, Berry & Will Ashcroft, and adding Levi Ashcroft and Sam Marshall, he’s unlikely to get a consistent run in their midfield.

At 23, Dees might see a spot for him.  He’s physically ready and tackles strangely.  We need a defensive type mid with good aerobic run.  Trac and Clarry got exposed this year on defensive clearance work.  Dees might also want to Trac to play forward/mid rotation.

I will rephrase it who have we landed in  the last 3 seasons that’s improved our list?

Was reported that he is looking to get to WA

No.

We have a defensive mid already in Sparrow.

Robertson is an absolute ball butcher and would be a terrible pick up.

We need to improve our disposal out of the middle, Robertson takes it in the other direction

All our starting mids are better kicks than Robertson.

From Fox Sports.

Players who could arrive

Herald Sun journalist Jon Ralph has also recently said the Demons could try and lure Leek Aleer, who has struggled to cement a place in Adam Kingsley’s best side, while the Demons could be a landing spot for departing Geelong premiership player Brandan Parfitt.

Josh Gabelich on SEN crunch time today when finishing up talking about player movements and I quote... "don't rule out Kossie Pickett moving clubs"

Freo will never have more picks. It'd be a tough pill to swallow but if this is gonna rear it's head every 12 months it might be time.

If your Fremantle you would be doing everything possible to get him. They already have a very talented team, underachieved big time this year. Get KP and Bolton and they should seriously be challenging next year.

I hope he stays though.

Serious question. He has ties to both WA and SA, and has been linked to both states. He has a 5 month old baby now which puts a different slant on things, as many of us will appreciate.  He has stated he's homesick, but where is home?  If he states either/or, I would be less sympathetic.

Any clown that suggests Pickett should go to Freo are that CLOWNS! He's a Melbourne player and always will be can't let him go then we will truly be [censored] same with Trac had a disagreement it happens. He will be a Melbourne player.

Pick 5 and Kosi Pickett for Harley Reid is the bigger thinking idea we should be absolutely chasing if Kozi wants to leave.

Or if [censored] hits the fan, something along the lines of a following trade, but feel free to rearrange it as suits each team:

Carlton get Petracca

WCE get Pickett and Carltons pick 11, F1 and 29

We get Harley Reid and Carltons Future 1st  Carltons Pick 29

Edit: WCE would want more so crossed out.

There is simply no way the Eagles let Reid go unless he is bashing down the door to get out, which if he is, isn't being reported.

This 'pie in the sky' idea would have to mean we've been in his ear all year, and he wants out but hasn't told anyone, I do agree with you there.

Edit: Just saying we absolutely have to chase something big if we will ever entertain trading Pickett or Tracc this year!

  • REPORT: Essendon

What were they thinking? I mean by “they” the coaching panel and team selectors who chose the team to play against an opponent who, like Melbourne, had made a poor start to the season and who they appeared perfectly capable of beating in what was possibly the last chance to turn the season around. It’s no secret that the Demons’ forward line is totally dysfunctional, having opened the season barely able to average sixty points per game which means there has been no semblance of any system from the team going forward into attack. Nevertheless, on Saturday night at the Adelaide Oval in one of the Gather Round showcase games, Melbourne, with Max Gawn dominating the hit outs against a depleted Essendon ruck resulting from Nick Bryan’s early exit, finished just ahead in clearances won and found itself inside the 50 metre arc 51 times to 43. The end result was a final score that had the Bombers winning 15.6 (96) to 8.9 (57). On balance, one could expect this to result in a two or three goal win, but in this case, it translated into a six and a half goal defeat because they only managed to convert eight times or 11.68% of their entries. The Bombers more than doubled that. On Thursday night at the same ground, the losing team Adelaide managed to score 100 points from almost the same number of times inside 50.

It’s Game Day, and the Demons are staring down the barrel of an 0-5 start for the first time since 2012 as they take on Essendon at Adelaide Oval for Gather Round. In that forgettable season, Melbourne finally broke their drought by toppling the Bombers. Can lightning strike twice? Will the Dees turn their nightmare start around and breathe life back into 2025?
