Voss clearly want to kick out Elijah Hollands due to behavioural issues, but he's a damn good footballer IMO.

The young bloke from Essendon (Menzie) who put 4 on us at Gather Round this year has been delisted.

Elijah Hollands “behavioural issues” are apparently significant.

Menzie is universally hated by Essendon supporters.

Voss has said his off-field behaviour and lack of professionalism are disappointing and disruptive to the playing group. Too interested in the devils dandruff.

He had potential as a draftee, but 24 years old next season and his AFL career basically has him at Tom Sparrow level impact and numbers wise. No disrespect to Tom, but you'd expect more from a pick 7 who's six years into a career. Add the off-field issues and it's a hard sell.

A strong club like Geelong would take him as delisted free agent perhaps, but no club like ours should go anywhere near him.

Yep, just like nibbler wanted to go home after signing a long term deal

Absolutely nothing to do with jumping off sinking ship

Oh surprise surprise, Curnow would take a pay cut to get to Geelong according to HUN

Definitely just wants to get interstate, nothing about a sinking ship🤔

We'd potentially have to shift others out but as long as the contract allows us to sack him on the spot for any new issues I'd actually be all for it. It reminds me of when we took on Harley Bennell, and honestly I'm completely fine with that even if it ended up going nowhere. I'd rather act like a strong club and fail than sit back and saying there's too much risk.

(Of course this is all based on the due diligence showing there's a path to it working out. If Carlton are being so open about it there's probably every chance he completely fails the background checks, in which case don't bother).

I have known the Hollands family for years especiallyhis Dad and right now currently play with his cousin who keeps me in the loop with a lot of his off field issues.

Stay right away from Elijah.

Whilst I dont condone his behaviour there has been some deep personal issues with his mother that has led to him spiralling out of control off field.

We delt with that [censored] with Oliver. Don't need to baby sit another playing coming into the club.

Difference being Harley Bennell performed at AFL level and was a match winner at the Suns before he went off the rails. He fulfilled his talent at the top level, even if only for 2-3 seasons.

Elijah is nowhere near it and if it weren't for his draft pick number no one would be talking about him. The fact they're willing to pay out his contract just to keep him away from the other players speaks volumes to his negative impact on their culture. Considering we've had culture problems the past few years, we should be staying away.

Yeah but of all the risks to take, punting on a young bloke who is off the rails from an off field perspective is probably the last one.

Having a crack at fixing someone’s calf injury (Bennell), or trying something new on the field (Grundy), is a much different sort of risk than this.

If you're going to take a risk on a trainwreck, take it on JUH who has at least shown that he can be a star.

Why you'd risk anything for Holland is beyond me. A very average footballer.

Are Carlton the new Melbourne?

Carlton are usually 1-2 years behind us. On things like game plan, imploding and probably sacking coaches.

We have enough off field issues, E Hollands would be a disaster

Fair enough.

A potential B+ grade value player we'd get in Hollands could totally be offset by behavioural issues.

AFL footy isn't supposed to be a baby sitting service where you have to throw all your resources toward a very select few.

The potential upside for Hollands is not at all worth the risk.

If you have an A+er like Dusty or Clarry already at your club, you take the cultural risk and try and protect the rest of the group while giving Dusty and Clarry greater leeway.

When you're talking about bringing in a B grader (if that), it'd be a brain melting list management decision.

💯. All this activity at Carlton was MFC last year. Players wanting to leave, delistings and drama was Goody trying to salvage what he could last year. Carlton will finish bottom 4 next year. Take that to the bank. I’d also think Voss will struggle to make it to bye week.

We have just seen this story to many times for it to finish any other way.

We also saw it at Collingwood, as did Wright, in the 2021 off season.

I know Curnow wants to leave the fish bowl, apparently.

But it’s come out that it’s the coach not anything else

Curnow willing to take a pay cut to leave.

Surely worth a crack?

I agree that we shouldn't risk it with Hollands as we cannot risk more off field distractions and negativity around us at the moment.

But people shouldn't discount his talent. He would have been a top tier player had things gone a bit different for him.

Pretty sure he was viewed as a potential number 1 pick in his TAC days.

Hope the kid gets the help he needs and makes a comeback.

Would love the hawks and Trac to fall in love, so we can go very hard for Zach Merret.

More reports that he (Merret) is disillusioned today.

I know it’s not ideal for the longer term but he’s that good, I’d still do it.

I’d be very happy with that trade too. Trac seems dissatisfied at the club, plus is a terrible use of the ball either to other players and shots on goal. Happy if they move him on and open more money for others as well.

Get real people. Merrett is hardly going to leave one mediocre performing club to go to another. He will go to a premiership window club if he decides to leave.

He was one of the better half forward flankers in the comp last year. Kicks well on both sides. The talent is absolutely in there.

Odds are he fails the background checks. But if by some chance there’s reason to believe he’d change with a fresh start the talent would be worth it if he got himself right

merrett is not an upgrade on Trac

and anyways if we're trading Trac it's to get s good pick to replenishing the list

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kate’s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwood’s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.

  • CASEY: Williamstown

The Casey Demons issued a strong statement to the remaining teams in the VFL race with a thumping 76-point victory in their Elimination Final against Williamstown. This was the sixth consecutive win for the Demons, who stormed into the finals from a long way back with scalps including two of the teams still in flag contention. Senior Coach Taylor Whitford would have been delighted with the manner in which his team opened its finals campaign with high impact after securing the lead early in the game when Jai Culley delivered a precise pass to a lead from Noah Yze, who scored his first of seven straight goals for the day. Yze kicked his second on the quarter time siren, by which time the Demons were already in control. The youngster repeated the dose in the second term as the Seagulls were reduced to mere

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Collingwood

Narrm time isn’t a standard concept—it’s the time within the traditional lands of Narrm, the Woiwurrung name for Melbourne. Indigenous Round runs for rounds 3 and 4 and is a powerful platform to recognise the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in sport, community, and Australian culture. This week, suburban footy returns to the infamous Victoria Park as the mighty Narrm take on the Collingwood Magpies at 1:05pm Narrm time, Sunday 31 August. Come along if you can.

The Dees demolished the Saints in a comprehensive 74-pointshellacking.  We filled our boots with percentage — now a whopping 520.7% — and sit atop the AFLW ladder. Melbourne’s game plan is on fire, and the competition is officially on notice.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

It was yet another disappointing outcome in a disappointing year, with Melbourne missing the finals for the second consecutive season. Indeed, it wasn’t even close, as the Demons' tally of seven wins was less than half the number required to rank among the top eight teams in the competition. When the dust of the game settled and supporters reflected on Melbourne's  six-point defeat at the hands of close game specialists Collingwood, Max Gawn's words about his team’s unfulfilled potential rang true … well, almost.
