As I recall we have to include a chunk of Brayshaw's contract in our salary cap and the percentage increases in the later years.

Then there's Joel Smith's payments ?

Makes it just that more difficult going forward given all the other back ended deals we probably have on our books (Petracca, Oliver? Gawn May? just to mention a few)

You wonder if we have almost pencilled in a down period for say 2026 -2029. Makes sense in a way

Yeh cause that’s what good clubs do…..pencil in being losers.

Seems like blue supporters haven't been happy all year.

Isn't Newman a brilliant kick though? Sets up so much of their play. We need more kicks at half back like that.

Will Brodie has been struggling to hold a spot in the firsts at Fremantle. He is contracted to 2026, but he had a sensational year last year accumulating 11 Brownlow votes, and even this year, his numbers wern't bad when he played in the AFL while also brining in good numbers in the WAFL. Might be worth a look into for the much needed midfield depth.

It's been reported in the media that we will be targeting experienced midfielder through the trade period.

I read that as topping up with midfield depth with and guys like Will Brodie, Brendan Parfitt and even Matt Kennedy fit that criteria.

Again Tim Lamb will have a big whiteboard and is setting out an agenda

midfield depth

Key defender  (May ageing, Tmcd on last legs, Tommo will go elsewhere, Adams still a work in progress)

Ruck relief for Gawn … Verrall & Fullarton seen as unlikely.  Try to keep JVR as key forward impact

Protect Pick 5 …  hands off !!!

Get pick 25 off Crows for ANB

Wishlist … Peatling (GWS)

pick up the phone to managers of …Angus Sheldrick (Swans), Neil Erasmus (Freo), Seamus Mitchell (hawks ) Jai Serong (hawks) , Nick Bryan (ess) , Ben Hobbs (ess) Peter Wright (ess)

Out of contract …Davies (suns), Kreuger ( pies)

Names to see what they could add  … Parfitt (cats) Rosas (suns), Brodie (Freo)

midfielders: Peatling (GWS), Alex Davies (suns), Deven Robertson* (lions) Sheldrick (Swans)*, Erasmus* (Freo) Ben Hobbs* (ess), Brodie** (Freo)

running defenders: Seamus Mitchell (hawks)*

Taller defenders: Jai Serong (hawks)*,

ruck depth: Nick Bryan* (ess)

forward/ruck: Peter Wright*** (ess)

goalkicking small forwards: Parfitt (cats) Rosas* (suns)

*contract to 2025 **contract to 2026 ***contract to 2027

Dees looking at probably 2-3 recruits from other clubs to provide more depth and cover some departures. Peatling is a long shot but worth offering him a deal.
Even imv if the Dees perhaps grabbed Robertson and Parfitt, that would help ANB and give us a contested ballwinner through the midfield.

A massive yes please to Matt Kennedy. Don’t be fooled by him getting subbed out of a game in the first half when he’s probably had 1 hour of sleep due to the birth of his baby.

He’s simply a fundamentally good AFL player.

When every man and his dog was missing shots in the first half of the Melbourne/Carlton 2023 semi, Kennedy calmly slotted a set shot after the half time break which set the tone for an accurate second half for the Blues, which was the sole reason they beat us.

Fan of Kennedy but won’t come free. If we expect a second rounder for ANB, Carlton would for Kennedy too. Solid on the inside and good hands and kick at goal. Good to have an excuse to make a play though.

parfitt if free, likely another in the line of hunter billings top ups. Our list balance needs more mids so happy to have senior bodies at Casey pushing up and allowing the kids to play in position as opposed to being best available (seston playing high rotation inside mid at Casey)

Absolute mammoth of a bloke, 190cm and have seen the blues swing him forward with good effect as a medium tall

Membrey would be a good filler if available, but I’m happy to wait and see if two meter Peter becomes available.

The fellow from the mid season draft and Fullerton are appearing as more Taylor busts.

Fullerton was a trade which is not Taylor’s area.

I’d be a Yes to Matt Kennedy. Versatile.  Contested ball player.  Can actually negate opposition mids which we fail to do.  Contracted to end 2025 and popular clubman so imv highly unlikely to depart.

I see Peatling had a game high 12 tackles in yesterday’s game. Probably the best mature mid we could hope to get I think.

He looked pretty angry yesterday and I think he could be gettable.

Moyle signed on with the Sun not long ago unfortunately. Wouldn’t mind Bryan from Essendon.

I hope we go hard for Peating. Would give us some much needed change in the middle.

I still think we need a small forward as Chandler is more a defensive small forward. Pickett spends some time in the middle or is having an off night and then we are left with no small… Malcolm Rosas for me is gettable. Matt Owies would be good but I can’t see him leaving.

I low key like the look of Reef McInnes.
Do we take a punt on someone like Nick Hind to add some speed?

I think Will Brodie or Ben Hobbs are good Options. Do we also take a shot at Brandon Parfitt or Will Phillips?

Although 95% of these players are not my ideal trade ins I’m trying to be realistic but still think they can add something to our list.

Nick Hind whilst speedy isn't going to add quality to our list. He would clog it further.

pass on matt kennedy - he's not quick and his kicking too regularly fails to hit targets; we don't need more midfield bulls, we need players who can actually hit targets by foot and be damaging with ball in hand

nick hind has been delisted by the peptides because he's in that 'too good for vfl, not consistent enough for afl' nexus zone of stringing 100 odd games together over the course of seven seasons at two clubs without ever cementing a role and being the selected sub for the majority of the last two seasons

If you think Kennedy's kicking "too regularly fails to hit targets", but you think Nick Hind is an option, I don't know what you're seeing.

At what point did I say that I was remotely interested in Hind?

Is there any chance we can get Fin Callaghan !? Best mates with Blake Howes ….

We would need to rob the bank … I mean keep $1million aside a year for the salary cap.  6 years and $6million would his price.  GWS would demand 2x first round picks.

Surely we have a crack at getting Mitch Lewis out of the Hawthorn.

Coming off an acl and unlikely to feature much in 2025? Unlikely

Did he actually do his ACL?
