No, he's cooked and would be paying him to be On the injury list 75% of the time

Maybe the Texan (Walker not Cox) could be an option?

I know culturally shocking but perhaps for the greater good. Provided Lever gives the OK.

2025 Trade / list changes - Hypothetical only

- TMac or Tomlinson - If Tmac retites, Tommo stays.  If TMac plays on Tommo is gone

- Loved Luke Hodge suggestion for MFC to chase Ben King and offer big money.  While I like it, I think that would be very hard to do, however, Id be more inclined to chase Mac Andrew - will have a soft spot for Dees given NGA connection and could get deal done - with 1 yr to go on contract

- Gone - Schache, Joel Smith, BBB, KFW, Gus

- Bring in Houston and Edwards

- Bring in a Mid (like Robertson)

- DRAFT

- new NGA to replace KFW and Yze onto Rookie

Quickly on the NGAs, AMW could be up for a List A promotion due to the games he has played and there is a club who has requested that Riak Andrew and Ricky Mentha be trialed at the State Combine (generally means only 1 club has asked the question). Both are potential Category B's for us. Thus, don't be surprised to see both potentially be picked up by the Dees and Yze on the Cat A rookie list.

I'd be picking up Riak Andrew on the sole hope you can entice his brother back to play with him!

Criminy Jizzmars I would hope not, he’s cooked. Will finish off his career playing MPFNL for Sorrento topping up his super with good coin.

I'm thinking potential ins are:

- Houston to replace Brayshaw with ideally a future 1st

- Ryan Angwin to replace Hunter as wing depth

- Ready to go Ruck (Reidy or McAndrew potentially?) to replace Schache

- Pick 7 after Ashcroft bid - Lalor or Reid?

- Harry Edwards to replace Tomlinson

- Experienced forward to replace Smith - Membrey potentially?

Riak would be a shrewd move to maybe get Mac back!

Dan Houston might actually end up in Houston before Melbourne at this point!

That's a new one for me (bolded) and an entirely appropriate response to the Lynch suggestion.

Not mentioned anywhere but look at Will Brodie from Freemantle. Contracted till 2026 but cannot get a game despite 30 to 40 possession games in the WAFL. He has Serong, Brayshaw and Young ahead of him. Top draft pick, Shepparton boy and is 190 cm tall. % games in 2023 due to ankle injury and no games this season. The moneyball tip and wont cost a first round draft pick.

Yep he’s one to look at. Only issue is his disposal is pretty suspect, but would add to our midfield depth at least. Sheldrick is another, but can’t see Swans letting him go whereas I think Freo would trade Brodie for salary cap with potential Tiger trade options.

Wouldn't mind Macrae and Brodie.

Particularly, if our midfield is a little bit younger next year.

You need those older bodies and heads over the course of a long season.

Just on Will Brodie, I do know for a fact he was a number of players we had enquired at the end of the 2021 season regarding midfield depth.

This was around the time we were also chasing Dunstan.

He didn't want to come across as depth especially at a club that was pretty stacked on midfield talent that had just won a flag. Pretty hard one to sell.

I only know this from him being an ex bushie boy from up this way.

Could it be more enticing now? I'd certainly ask the question. He was an absolute star at junior level and was rated at one stage a top number 1 draft prospect.

Salem showed on Saturday night, he still has lots of AFL footy in front of him.  Salem just needs to get his body right and he definitely makes us better.  I’d rather Salem over Bowey

You are not understanding the difference of what other Clubs are looking for.

I love  Christian and he is so dilky skilled but he is not going to attract trade bdd as it with his. Injury record at his age. He is  one of our heart and soul players and truly loves the Dees.

But Bowey for eg would be a better pick up for a Club due to his age and career life,

I wasn’t being him disrespectful to Salo but circumstances change needs

Will Brodie. 👏👏👏Definitely Yes.  He fits in immediately.  He is good at contested footy. Skills.  Behind too many at Freo.  Dominates the WAFL. Would cost a packet of chips aka 4th rounder.  Moneyball pick.

Fair enough at the time to go to Freo. Unfortunately for him he is now depth there!

I also don't want to hear any more Melbourne supporters saying Goodwin can't coach an aggressive offensive team. The way these teams are playing is Melbourne 2018.

We still have bloody good personnel behind the ball. Back them to win contests, and go super aggressive at stoppage with +1 and even +2, and more of some of that ball movement from last night, which was straight down the corridor, and straight to 30m out directly in front.

Get contests from at least 2 talls in that 30m danger area, get smalls and mids to the foot of the contest. In 2018, it was TMac and Weideman. Neither were superstars, but gave contests, TMac did hit the scoreboard well, but Weideman competed, and Melksham was alongside them.

In 2025, it could be JVR and Petty/Turner. Add a Wright or Walker that could kick 30+, alongside Fritta, Trac and Kozzy. I think Spargo needs to be ahead of Chandler, but another small needed in there.

The model we went for in the first half of this year is probably Richmond 2017, which was either win perfect clearance or lose clearance with post clearance pressure applied and maintain defensive stability behind the ball, and then quick and long to contests in the forward half.

2018 feels like an era ago and we are now only a shadow of the 2021 team.  Our performances overall been average this year and even at a 5-2 there was no conviction with the method played.

With May and Gawn 33 next year, Petracca and Lever 29, Oliver 28 (I have no idea what Clarry will bring next year) do you believe we should go all chips in? Or concede the run is over and rebuild as we literally have no depth to compete with the Swans, Dockers or Giants anytime soon.

Macrae would be a good pickup

Dogs have traded with us the last few seasons (Harmes, Hunter)

Waterman keen on the Hawks. We appear heading into a period, where we can only attract talent with paying overs and giving long contracts.

Even after our flag, no one wanted to come to us, now we are on the nose.. it’s going to be real hard

Are you talking about the Waterman who just signed a new deal with West Coast? 🤪

Great pick up DL!

The way you've outlined it all seems to be pointing to us who have nominated both for the state combine.

Also worth noting that Riak is currently in the Casey Demons development squad so clearly we've had a fair bit to do with putting some development around him it seems.

Hawthorn seems to be getting attraction once again as a destination FC

Barrass is a massive upgrade to Frost imo

“Max Gawn has been the heart and soul of the Dees for years now, but this recent recovery from a terrible start has been driven by him. He was everywhere again, and with the game in the balance, he took several key marks to keep the ball in the Dees forward half.” - The Monday Knee Jerk Reaction: Round Ten Of course, it wasn’t the efforts of one man that caused this monumental upset, but rather the work of the coach and his assistants and the other 22 players who took the ground, notably the likes of Jake Melksham, Christian Petracca, Clayton Oliver and Kozzie Pickett but Max has been magnificent in taking ownership of his team and its welfare under the fire of a calamitous 0-5 start to the season. On Sunday, he provided the leadership that was needed to face up to the reigning premier and top of the ladder Brisbane Lions on their home turf and to prevail after a slow start, during which the hosts led by as much as 24 points in the second quarter. Titus O’Reily is normally comedic in his descriptions of the football but this time, he was being deadly serious. The Demons have come from a long way back and, although they still sit in the bottom third of the AFL pack, there’s a light at the end of the tunnel as they look to drive home the momentum inspired in the past four or five weeks by Max the Magnificent who was under such great pressure in those dark, early days of the season.

  • CASEY: Southport

The Southport Sharks came to Casey. They saw and they conquered a team with 16 AFL-listed players who, for the most part, wasted their time on the ground and failed to earn their keep. For the first half, the Sharks were kept in the game by the Demons’ poor use of the football, it’s disposal getting worse the closer the team got to its own goal and moreover, it got worse as the game progressed. Make no mistake, Casey was far and away the better team in the first half, it was winning the ruck duels through Tom Campbell’s solid performance but it was the scoreboard that told the story.
