It's funny because I've just looked at the stats and seen Rivers had 25 touches and 6 clearances of 70%+ TOG, plus a goal. You look at those numbers and you go, he is definitely on the way.

But whenever he's in traffic under heat, he makes poor decisions IMO.

When he has the play in front of him, it's a different story. He's explosive and confident, and tries to play make.

Anyway, I hope I'm wrong.

Have thought similar myself but thought he was excellent in traffic in the 4thQ (possibly to do with Libba sat on the bench)

They wont let him go. His next contract will be $1mill+ per year over 5 years

Agree that it is highly unlikely they'll let him go but that contract I'd do in a heartbeat.  Exactly what we need and in time with the CBA that won't be a huge number. If we can I'd offer more.

I don't care about the names, I just want us to pick up via trades, free agents, drafting the following positions, midfielder midfielder midfielder ruckman forward  defefender midfielder.

Just wondering.  With the apparent mass exodus of Richmond players it would appear that Baker and Bolton would garner Band one compensation. If Richmond lose today and likely finish last does this mean that they will secure picks 1, 2 & 3 in the draft? (exempting Ashcroft). I sincerely hope not!

Neither Baker or Bolton are free agents, so no compo picks, they'll be traded for as per normal

For a guy who's played 12 good games over his career

Oh,of course. Thank you. So it's just Josh Battle to be concerned about unless of course we finish lower than StKilda.

Correct, although given the new CBA and the adjusted compensation rules announced during the week (length of contract to be factored in to compo, but capped @ 5 years along with avg guaranteed money over life of contract) the hill for band one compo for Battle looks very steep now.

Good to hear. With the exception of Ashcroft to the Lions and possibly Lombard to the Suns we're looking at a top 8 selection at least. Plethora of quality mids available is exciting. Most interesting off season ahead with seemingly a mass exodus of our players. Brown, Schache, Hunter, Tomlinson, Melksham, TMac, Sestan , Brayshaw and Smith all likely off the list. Unfortunately we're saddled with Billings and Fullarton. Very interesting October ahead.

He’s still learning the mid role I think. He has the physical gifts to be similar to a Chad Warner I believe. Hope the club keep backing him.

I've said it before and will say again, we need to recruit players from other clubs and/or the draft that have pace and the necessary skills. Other than the Royal Windsor our newbies are really just good old-fashioned goers. Being up in Qld I have not seen Jeffo, Adams or Sestan as it seems, they are about the only ones in the two's that could have the skills to make it. We are getting killed by teams with pace and skills to deliver correctly. Not all lost as JVR, Windsor, McVee and Rivers will keep improving and be very good players for us.

Bolton isn’t leaving.

He’s the one you should be trading. Doesn’t care, body language is terrible, he’s a great player in a good side and Richmond won’t be that for a long time. Get two firsts for him now or watch him meander around for another 12 months until he asks for a trade again and the value’s dropped

Dean Cox as coach

Dean Cucks wants to be in Sydney next to Longmire until he retires. Won't ever be a senior coach if thats his mindset imo.

Rivers tries to do too much at times especially early in games, but he gets stronger the longer games go - at least down back. In the midfield he’s clearly tired in second halves.

But with so little chemistry and class in our midfield and no trust in the forward line it’s not easy to make decisions. Tracc and Oliver refined their combination. Who is Rivers meant to combine with right now? Gawn can’t move, Oliver is a mess and Viney doesn’t have his burst.

As long as Rivers builds his tank I have no concerns about his midfield quality.

Coming into the season the club were really happy that Riv had gotten his running up to the point where he could play some midfield minutes.

Necessity has meant he’s had more time through there than expected, but hopefully he has a real taste for centre square minutes now and really attacks the preseason to build that running capacity further.

As it would seem unlikely there will be many, if any, gettable ‘big name’ key position forwards up for trade, is Adelaide’s Riley Thilthorpe a player that could be lured away if targeted? I’ve liked what I have seen of him, even though I haven’t seen a lot.  A great forward target with a very good pair of hands.

BTW Is there any way to search within the topic you’re currently viewing (it could save me asking questions that have already been answered)?

If Goldstein plays on at the bombers we should look at Nick Bryan from the bombers

Playing pretty well against Darcy and Jackson in the ruck.

Highly doubt it

If we're having a crack at Houston, we must be loading up for one last go with we have May, Gawn, Viney running around

If that's the case...welcome to Melbourne, Jack Macrae

The little bit of Riley you have seen must be the little bit I haven’t seen

Really hope you're right about the compo the Saints will receive for Josh Battle.  He's certainly out the door after that performance. Don't want to be shunted back a spot in the draft.

That's a very good call if that's the way we go.
