I thought he'd at least be on the receiving end of one or two crunching tackles.

He gave them instead. And his mate Moore pushed his knee into Tracs spleen.

Way to wave the flag for Gus.

Maynard not bruised even fairly isn't a great look.

Especially after all the talk about a response.

Yep, very damning to see.

I wonder how Gus feels about this lack of standing up for him.

Our blokes would get 4 weeks plus. HQ $$$ generating teams players get premiership medals.

Looks at the umpire every time he's touched. Can't stand the bloke and the protection racket around him. That 50 was a disgrace.

Could have crunched him and still lost by 6 goals; that doesn’t make me feel any better about losing Gus. The retribution I wanted was to smash them on the scoreboard.

Collingwood players were laughing in our faces, pathetic effort. Hope Gus wasn’t watching because that was an embarrassing effort

Our guys don't do physical pressure that well full stop.

We don't body spoil.

We don't run hard enough straight line at opponents.

We corale too much.

We don't know the sneaky art of hurting opponents. Ala Moore knee into Petracca.

We play happy happy joy joy footy under Goodwin.

No wonder Maysy gets so [censored] off.

Would have preferred him on the trolley rather than Tracca.

There was no need for Moore to put his knee out. It was always a spoil.

Just like Maynards act wasn't a footy one.

That's the dirty way the pies play.

About time for once we did the same.

We were a good player down just like last time.

It's straight out of the filth playbook.

And we let it slide.

Just like we nobody gave Moore a hard time.

Again another weak response.  Aside from Viney, how many blokes actually fly the flag.  Not many soldiers in the trenches !!!!

Yep ... And though he's tough as they come he aint big or scary.

Bingo. Galvanised for one year free of outside distractions and look what happened....reverted to type at the flag celebration at the G

Don't want to be too harsh on Petracca but did you guys notice the shaking hands he had with the thug as they were lining up for the start of the game?

He should have at least ignores his offering tbh.

Leave it alone. The goal was to win today not to take Maynard out.

If people want to rip their memberships up over this then they can [censored] off

Nothing was ever going to happen once I saw him & trac shake hands before the game.

Same here. That was bizarre.

One of your dad's bumps would of been nice.

Problem is that we, as a club, are too nice.

It's good to be nice and gentlemanly when warranted, but against the likes of Collingwood... Spare me any sportmanships.

When you’ve got a supporter base full of members who find it to emotionally distressing to turn up. Why should the club go after him?

There isn’t a softer club in the AFL than us. We have as much backbone as the apologists on this forum that think it’ll be ok and we aren’t that bad..

I’m sure I’ll be torn down for this comment. But I couldn’t care less. I went to the game and stood in the outer until the final siren went.

I was one of the 5k melb members there.

Not all of the supportes are "soft". But regardless of that, our players should be more self aware.

Really Layzie.

If your best mate was retired from his career wouldn't you wave the flag for him.

Not talking about illegal whacks but some crunching tackles by several players to at least put him off his game.

Not like he didn't deserve them.

And as for winning the game we didn't. So the two things are not mutually exclusive.

In fact some agro would have served us well I reckon. Maynard played well. We didn't make him panic.

And at the end of the day at least probably put a smile on poor Gussys dial.

A soft loser club , always will be

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.
