NOW!! onto this debate about bizz and cj!!

from a person with an unbiased opinion of both, here goes:

cj is slow on the field and has no impact at afl level, he doesnt have any aspects to his game that make him a handy player....

he was given alot of opportunity in the pre-season and early rounds of the yr and he just doesnt cut it!!! i would be using him as trade bait this yr for sure!!

as for bizz....we all know his use-by-date is almost up....but when he came in earlier in the yr he was fantastic i thought and i feel he deserved to hold his spot

he has alot of courage and reads the play well and provides alot for us down back and hurts the other team by getting the ball as well as defending!!

so dont anyone try to say that cj deserves a game over bizzell coz you need to open your eyes and stop being one-eyed!!

Exactly what i was thinking, Becks. And what's the deal with Brocky? I mean why put him in as an emergency? Wouldn't it be a better idea to have in the line-up and if he doesn't pull up then take him out?

I'm not liking the I/C bench we've got, as been said by many here, it's very top heavy. I think we can win this week, but i'm not sure we are selecting the best team we can get out there.

Not enough thats for sure, but I am specifically talking about CJ. I guess 'it' could mean many things, I just think he has all the physical attributes, but there is something stoping him from taking the next step.

Be it confidence, desire, I dont know but I hope its addressed because he could be a very good player.

The reason why I think players like CJ should be played over players like Bizzell is that our season is over. We are not going to play finals this year, so we have a chance to find out about our list in a way that a team challanging for a GF berth is unable to. With Bizzell we all know his career is all but over, chances are that he won't be on our list after the end of the season. We also know what he is capable of.

But with CJ there is a huge question mark of whether he can make it or not, as shown by this and the countless other threads on him. We aren't going to discover whether he has 'it' or not with him playing for Sandy, the only way is to give him a dozen games in a row with Melbourne, then when it comes to his contract ending we'll know whether to keep him or not. The same goes for Warnock, Newton and Buckley. what's the point of having them on the list for at least a couple of years without playing them?

Now is the time to see what they're capable of.

I'd like to see CJ in for Miller. I would like to see Newton playing even more.

Let Dunn play at CHF and also give the bench some legs.

I'm happy that Bizzell is playing... Just in case no one noticed. :P

If we win with this team, ND picks well, if we don't I can script the prees conference today, we just ran out of legs and made bad decisions. Hope it is the first, but we look on paper big and slow.

Surely there is going to be a late change. McLean for Miller. Surely?

Its been said before. Why play Miller off the bench? He sat there most of last week and my guess is he'll sit there most of this week if he plays.

There is only one thing to do with Miller, try him out for a few rounds as a CHB, because he has officially failed as a CHF.

Has anyone been satisfied with selection this year? Not one round I've said, yes they have got it right.

The MFC need to start a new initiative, post all available players on demonland, let us post our sides and then let us vote on the best one. Surely that way we'd pick a side capable of taking on the opposition!

There'll be no surprises if we're advised "we didn't match up well (couldn't find a spot for Millsy), were well-beaten in the midfield and ran out of legs" the picture is painted and is there for all to see. Let's just hope that none of the runners get injured early.

BTW Not happy about Miller still being in the team, maybe we're giving him the same amoutn of opportunities to Yze to regain his form. If that's the case, we'll be waiting a good while!

PS. Happy to see Ooze doing well again, and i firmly believe it came from dropping him.

i'm not happy with miller being in the team either, why is it that players that don't show the right attitude on the field still get a game the next week? why is there no punishment for this, players are too aware that they will keep their spot even when they produce rubbish.

the real selection i'm not happy with is McLaren.

OH god not umpire McLaren

the way i see it is that playing bizzel is largely wasted regarding the future of the mfc. maybe ND chose bizzel because with the return of robo and mclean (pending) the side might be a bit under done, at least bizzel will get 20 touches and do a reasonable job, whereas with CJ it could go either way...

but team selection reads like this:

IN: 2 tall backmen, 1 medium backman, 1 medium forward.

OUT: 1 tall backman, 1 medium forward, 2 small backmen.

to me we havnt lost anything from the midfield from last week, sylvia spent virtually the whole game at FF. CJ would be a better choice than one of Holland or Bizzel (depending on particular match ups because we have 3 talls listed atm), imo this would even the team up a little. also another midfielder in for either dunn or miller. this would mean the bench would be a ruckman, a midfielder, a tall forward and a medium defender who can run a bit...a reasonable mix.

THE BIZ IS BACK - FAN BL@@DYTASTIC

A slow 30 yo who finished 2004 at Sandringham wil save us.

Meanwhile CJ & Warnock who need game time so we can see whether they measure up play at Sandy.

[censored] the Biz. We ditch Brown, then pick someone equally as old and useless to our future.

I demand Brock

Worst news here for mine is Sylvia injured again. Just when he was getting a few games together and showing us how dominant he can be, injury strikes him down again :(

The Biz did what he has always done... best reader of the ball in our backline, most elusive of our defenders, brilliant decision-making under pressure, picks out targets in traffic. As courageous as they come, a massive plus for the recruiting team, and no suprise to those who have watched his whole career at MFC.

Except to all those who constantly bag him, saying he is too old, too slow etc.

Expect to see him back at Sandy when Rivers returns.

He played well in the last quarter when the Roos had an open forward line and there was little pressure on the defenders as we were constantly winning the ball forward of the centre.

The argument was never that he shouldn't play because he is an awful player, the argument is, that he shouldn't be getting a game ahead of youngsters who will still be there when we challenge for a flag.

Then again, if Ward and Brown can get a game every week, why the hell not Bizzell?

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
