We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

I wish my teachers wrote a report like Taylor Whitford did for KFW .....1 mark 1 disposal!!,

Participant award write up for KFW it seems.

If Whitford is going to do these weekly write ups then at least provide some real honesty amongst it. You can't expect fans to take him seriously if he's writing stuff like that on that performance already off the back of him averaging 1.0 disposals, 0.3 marks, 0.0 hitouts and 0.0 tackles in 3 VFL games he's played this year. Just call it as you see it.

On a different note, we're now seeing the full effect of the Clare Pettyfor appointment. Our media stuff of recent has improved since her appointment.

Mark down the name of Jack Behnk, a Casey lister who also plays for St Bedes Mentone Tigers and was nominated as VAFA Mens Rising Star award on the back of a starring 5 goal performance. He has represented Casey this year during the practice match series.

Take it to the Benkh?

Turner on the other hand continues to show he has what it takes. Maybe as a forward??

That second half, in particular the last quarter, was something special given i don't think Disco's played as a forward at this level before.

The bloke appears to be a natural and while i'm not suggesting he could replicate this instantly at AFL level or have immediate success, i would be extremely dissapointed in the brains trust if we did not follow this up.

Side stepping, gathering off the ground, mobile, great attack and strong hands.  Lovely shot at goal both on the run and set shots!

He was that good, Richo, Choco and Simon should be reviewing this over the break to decide the IF and how of training and trialling him for a decent stint to see whether he has what it takes or if it was just a one off anomaly.

A pontential major missed opportunity going a begging if we don't imho.

I’m pretty sure the coaches have long been bullish on Turner. The problem remains his inability to get and stay fit

Sestan still looks more at home across HF and had some very good moments including some nice chain work by hand.

Lovely finisher coming through congestion and once he spots the sticks ahead lookout!

Most interesting to see him getting serious mid field minutes.  Great experience for him and now just needs to build on that slowly and also build his tank / wheels to get to more contests and impact.

He does still fluff the odd golden opportunity to hit up free targets by foot and hand but appears to be slowly improving on this aspect as well as the months go by.

I'd also love to see him throw his weight around a tad more at the contest, obviously without going over the top and getting rubbed out.

Assume you're referring to the coaches at AFL level.

Without a doubt but not as a forward prospect.  Not that i've witnessed at training or Casey and not until now anyway.

He often gets involved in scoring chains & opportunistic scoring but was that the best attack on the footy / man during his time at Casey from the Shack?

Where has that been till now!  If only he could bring that most weeks for Casey and then convert it at senior level.

Had to look at the replay twice on a few occasions just to be sure.

Jed Adams (9 disposals, four marks) 🤨

"Jed had a mixed day where he had some good defensive moments and some he [wouldn't] like to have again. He is working hard to be as consistent as possible with his performance, especially around his defensive positioning."

Kynan Brown (3 goals, 16 disposals, eight tackles) 👏👏

"Kynan is developing the foundations of his game along with his role understanding at present. He played between the midfield and up forward on the weekend, demonstrating his work rate, speed, and explosiveness around stoppage. Up forward, he applied great pressure and got rewarded with three nice finishes on goal off the back of this."

Tom Fullarton (2 goals, 21 disposals, seven hit outs, five marks)👏👏👏

"This was arguably Tom's best game for the club so far. He varied his time between key forward and ruck, collecting 21 possessions, 13 of these contested, and four clearances. Tom probably left a few opportunities out there on the weekend, finishing with two goals and four behinds."

Lachie Hunter (23 disposals, three marks, three clearances)👏👏

"Following a few months out of the game, it was a great return for Lachie. He was at his creative best around scrimmage, with his hands in tight and stoppage craft solid. Lachie played between the midfield and, at times, up forward; he built as the game went on and had an impactful last quarter."

Matthew Jefferson (4 disposals, two clearances)🤨🤨

"It probably wasn't MJ's strongest performance on the weekend, although as a key forward, you are dictated to by the ball movement up the field. On a small ground, he found it hard to get separation, but in saying this, he brought others into the game by bringing the ball to the ground. Ultimately, we'd love to see him work his opponent over more and bring his strength of launching at the ball to every contest."

Bailey Laurie (24 disposals, 20 tackles, 11 clearances)👍🏻👍🏻

"It was a great performance from Bailey on the weekend. Playing predominantly as a midfielder, he was super clean and strong around stoppage and scrimmages, winning a lot of his own ball whilst amassing an unbelievable 20 tackles."

Andy Moniz-Wakefield (18 disposals, seven marks, seven tackles)👍🏻👍🏻

"For the last few weeks, Andy has been playing a new role in defence. It wasn't his best game defensively on the weekend, but as we know, learning a new role can take some time to adjust. Offensively, Andy is quite damaging and threatening, and we love to see the ball in his hand."

Josh Schache (3 goals, 15 disposals, seven marks) 👍🏻

"Josh was arguably, along with Bailey, our best performer on the day. He was solid in the air and helped us move the ball on what was a skinny ground via some critical moments and some big contests. He finished with seven marks on the day and was critical in creating opportunities for us to score whilst executing in front of the goal and finishing with three goals himself."

Oliver Sestan (3 goals, 21 disposals, three tackles, five clearances)👏👏

"Oli's performance on the weekend was one of his best that we've seen at VFL level. His ability to win his own ball in contested situations and be calm when using the ball by hand or foot was a highlight. Oli finished with 21 possessions, five clearances and three goals and was moved through the midfield in the second half, which is great for his development."

Adam Tomlinson (16 disposals, five marks)👍🏻👍🏻

"Tommo is a brilliant influence on our young defenders. He's able to instruct others and set the ground up quickly. His ability to read the state of the game in the last quarter allowed him to be in good positions to win the ball back for us. This and his leadership went a long way toward our ability to execute and win the game from 14 points down at three-quarter time."

Daniel Turner (One goal, 15 disposals, nine marks, three tackles)👍🏻👍🏻

"It was great to have Daniel back out there on the weekend. Returning from a longer stint on the sidelines we were to ensure to manage his minutes, yet this didn't affect his output. With nine marks and seven possession gains, Disco slipped straight back into the form we saw throughout the early stages of preseason. We moved him forward in the third quarter to good effect, having four score involvements and kicking one goal himself."

Will Verrall (21 disposals, four marks, four tackles, 32 hitouts, six clearances)👏👏👏

"Will's last month of football has been pleasingly consistent. His ability as a young ruck to give our midfielders first use but then follow up and impact in the next phase of play was significant. From his 21 disposals, Will had nine score involvements and six clearances. He showed his developing aerial game by getting behind the ball and taking several intercept marks."

Kyah Farris-White (1 behind, one disposal, one mark)🥶🥶🥶

"Off the back of a great preseason period, Kyah has been able to play bigger minutes in the VFL so far this season. As a young ruck and tall forward, seeing him have impactful moments in games has been great. Kyah's impact on the weekend was limited although he was able to run good patterns and have a shot on goal as a forward. We look forward to seeing him spend more time in the ruck in future games to develop his ruck craft further."

Some VFL Players to watch:

Paddy Cross (19 disposals, eight marks, two tackles)👍🏻👍🏻

"Paddy started as a forward but moved to a wing as the game went on. On a ground not suited for wingers, he played a hard-running, contested style of game. Finishing with 19 disposals and eight marks. Off a season last year riddled with injury, it's great to see him back out there having a big impact on games for us."

Tom Freeman (7 disposals, two marks, three tackles)👍🏻

"Tom was huge for us in the second half. Billy Gowers, an experienced forward for Port Melbourne, had kicked five goals to halftime. Tom slid across to Gowers in the second half, really taking him out of the match. This went a long way in us getting the result, so full credit to Tom for getting the job done."

Casey does not need project ruckmen what they need are tall strong mids that will be groomed to play seniors. Plenty of young kids that were not selected in the kiddie draft may get a second chance. It would be good to get a diamond in the rough. Schache ,Jefferson and Tomlinson could share the ruck work. Putting kilometers into the legs of Jefferson is not a bad idea. Going back to the seniors back up ruckman years ago Pedersen filled in for Gawn , he was only 193 cm high.

I cannot understand why the Vfl has more than one bye per week, why do the affiliated AFL clubs put up with it. Perhaps it is a cost factor or ...... I  used to like watching the Vfl  but constant weekly idiotic bye is a put off. Just f.ck the comp off if the AFL is not serious.

It is just impossible to develop up and coming players properly when there is no continuity. Casey have had two byes in 3 weeks.  A pathetic excuse for a development competition.

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

    TRAINING: Monday 29th April 2024

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f
