Rising Star Nomination for The Duke?

Recommended Posts

Reid is a gun and will be a top liner sooner rather than later.

Back to topic, Windsor has pretty much everything you could ask for in a modern winger/mid. I told my 4 year old to get his number on her jumper when she asked me the other day. In my house, that’s the official stamp of approval.

I'm yet to see much from him at AFL level that convinces me, but it's round 3 and it's so difficult to show your talent playing in such a dreadful team. I'm sure he'll prove me wrong with time.

I should have worded it better - I think Windsor is more suited to our current needs. Maybe in a few years we'll be in more need of a Reid type, but I'd take Windsor over Reid this season from what I've seen so far.

We're super happy with Windsor but he's not better than Reid

Windsor has been super impressive. Great wheels.  Uses his pace to accelerate over first 5 metres. Ball use is also very composed most of the time.  His goal v Power was impressive and so important.  Ran between opponents and kicked from 50.  👏👏👏He also knows how to tackle even when bigger bodies involved.  Definitely been a welcome addition.

Windsor like Kozzie and Rivers can kick accurately at top speed.

Windsor has already shown us that he’s got pace, class and is a road runner up the wing with defensive intent. He’s shown that he’s a safe bet as a decade long wingman even if he just maintains his current level.

Being that, I’ve been very impressed with his ability to do some work in tight spaces at AFL pace. He’s winning some impressive contested balls and using his athleticism in closer to extract himself and using it really well under a lot of pressure. This is beyond what you’d typically expect from a wingman. He definitely shows a lot of scope for future midfield time, which would be a plane pleasant bonus.

It is only very early in his career but he’s shown enough to think that there is a possibility he could develop into a better player than we (in the public) imagined.

I see more Connor Rozee in Windsor than Lachie Whitfield. He is better inside that we expected and a good but not perfect kick. He has excellent hands and great decision making. He definitely looks an inside midfielder with more muscle.

Hunter might challenge Langdon for the other wing role.

And Windsor has the tools to play Bowey's high half back role or Billings's high half forward role.

Nah Tony. As long as Langdon & Caleb are in good touch, there’s no place in the team for Hunter.

Windsor might well get tired as an 18 yo in a demanding role.

Hopefully without the flopping like Rozee?

I think we have a beauty here. great game sense, not overawed, has genuine wheels and knows how to use it (e.g his goal from 50). and probs just as important looks a great decision maker. I thought his coolness under pressure which the commentators pointed out in the last quarter makes him special. Didn't blaze away and made good decisions under enormous pressure. He looks a beauty.

The nomination will come. don't worry.

Made the right decision and executed late with his kick to Fritsch also.

Love him. Can't wait to see once he adds some muscle to his frame.

One thing I am curious about Windsor is his height. He is listed at 185cm but looks smaller on the field. It could be a lack of muscle perhaps. Not sure…

What I am certain about is that his speed, poise, aerobic capacity and work ethic are elite already. Add some size, a bit more of the contested stuff and experience and he will be top shelf.

I’d love to see him attend some centre bounces next season as it would add another string to his bow. Something Lingers doesn’t have. (As good as he has been for us since coming from Freo) Windsor should be a 200 gamer if we develop him correctly.

Without being bias, and on limited viewing, I’d have him top of the class. Dursma looks good too.

Yep, top of the class at present. Durrsma is one I would have liked to have seen recruited by the Dees - sadly it was not to be but I am expecting big things from him. Back to Windsor, he has some class that will further improve (and that class reminds me of Stan Alves, so much; and hence, keep him out of the centre, let him be the dominant winger coming forward as often as possible. With a bit of close coaching, he could learn the Alves' turns, twists, run-arounds, balks and blind-turns; he has the pace, the kicking skills and the opportunities thereof).

Sure can! Remind you of an aspect of pure class like that of Stan Alves?

More like Alan Johnson IMO but I saw much more of Johnno. And he was a warm favourite behind Robbie.

Duke will need to rest throughout the season.

Hunter is good depth until he's no longer required.

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,

    GALLANT by KC from Casey

The world “gallant” is not one that is readily acceptable to losing teams in our game of football so when it was used in the context of the Casey Demons’ loss to Sandringham in yesterday’s match at Casey Fields, it left a bitter taste in the mouth.  The Demons went into the game against the St Kilda affiliated Zebras with the advantage of playing on their home turf (not that this has been a major asset in 2024) and with very little else going in their favour. The Saints have close to a full
