i beleive we will beat them, without wells playing we can concentrate on their other mids, we have better forwards and i beleive our backs match them quite well

if our midfield fires we will win, we do get a lot of hard balls and we need to match them in that and intesity and we will win

go dees

Will we beat them because we must simply be getting closer to a win? On yesterdays "effort" I think not.

The Kangas are willing, confident and tough as nails.

Exactly the team we cant beat. The Eagles are miles ahead of us in all areas, the Kangas are not , but are unified.

The keys to winning footy is tackling and pressure and we have neither. You dont need to be talented or in form to tackle.

Interesting reflection of the "team"......

There has been an ongoing problem with the "team" things all year. The shepherding, the tackling etc seems to have slipped out of our game altogether.

Pound for pound we are probably more talented than the Kangaroos, but there is a sense of team that they have and we don't at the moment.

Unfortunately the working for each other stuff just doesn't seem to be there.

And I hope that description made sense to those reading this, because it came out a lot more frilly than I usually like ;) !!!

I thought this was YM's thread, when I saw the title. I too reckon we will beat the roos. The boys should feel hurt from Sundays pummeling by the Eagles & should bounce back with an impressive win.

The return of McLean. Robbo, Moloney & Rivers should provide fresh legs & go a long way in helping against the Subiaco curse.

Considering that the roos seem to have redeveloped the shinboner culture, it won't be as easy a match as it has been in past yrs against the roos. Personally, I can't see us winning after yesterday's display.

consider this.

we get mclean, rivers and robertson back...

we are a big chance

Just remember that Robertson and McLean are very under done.

Who said anything about getting McLean or Rivers back?

Robbo is the only certainty for this week.

We still don't know how severe Rivers' injury is, or what exactly is the problem.

McLean will play, definitely

Dunno about Rivers

Would be nice to win, as long as we still finish 16th

I honestly can't see us winning next week if we play the same brand of footy as we did against the Eagles.

Daniher said McLean pulled up sore last friday at training, and was probably never going to play against WCE.

By the sounds of it, he is probably 50/50 to play this week.

I heard that as well, he could be a couple of weeks away and considering our current position there is no point in risking him by bringing him back too early.

I would love to see Sylvia played at FF and given the entire forward 50 from the opening bounce

id like to see ANY forward with the 50 open, hell id just like to see a decent amount of space for someone to lead into

I agree. We should beat North. Forget last week. Hopefully we have hit rock bottom and this week we turn things around. Get on now to make the final 8 - Paying $26 on SportsTAB.

Space in the forward line - there's a new concept! If only one of our long list of coaches and assistants could come up with it! Na - too complicated for them to implement then communicate it to the players.

We will lose to the Kangaroos!

Factors that lead me to believe this are as follows :

1. Lack of defensive pressure

2. Non-existent voice and ability to help each other out

3. Hamish McIntosh will kill us around the ground

4. We are coming off a trip to Perth

5. Our gameplan will be wrong

Sad but true :(

we'll win, because we'll learn the guts needed to play for the red and blue, dig in for each other and take nothing else than a win.

that or i'll be crying for a few days

THE ACCIDENTAL DEMONS by The Oracle

In the space of eight days, the Melbourne Football Club’s plans for the coming year were turned upside down by two season-ending injuries to players who were contending strongly for places in its opening round match against the GWS Giants. Shane McAdam was first player to go down with injury when he ruptured an Achilles tendon at Friday afternoon training, a week before the cut-off date for the AFL’s pre-season supplemental selection period (“SSP”). McAdam was beginning to get some real mom

RETURN TO NORMAL by Whispering Jack

One of my prized possessions is a framed, autographed guernsey bearing the number 31 worn by my childhood hero, Melbourne’s champion six time premiership player Ronald Dale Barassi who passed away on 16 September 2023, aged 87. The former captain who went on to a successful coaching career, mainly with other clubs, came back to the fold in his later years as a staunch Demon supporter who often sat across the way from me in the Northern Stand of the MCG cheering on the team. Barassi died the
