We must not let the opportunity to have a bloke like Voss on our side pass. He is a completely different character from Tim Watson , so I don't think Tim's failure as a coach should preclude us from taking him on without assistant experience(besides, who else has had much success with the Saints since Jeans?).Did Roos or Laidley have much of a gap between playing and coaching? How long was it with Matthews?

Remember the rush of senior coaching offers Balmey received when we sacked him? It'll be interesting to see how highly sought-after Neale will be if we let him go when his contract expires.

Laidley was assistant at Collingwood for a few years. I would employ a director of Football to be a mentor to Voss as a coach, someone part time with past history of sucessful coaching, someone with experince but no passion to coach. Maybe Ron, the living legend can come back.

Has anyone got any idea if The great Norm Smith went from playing straight into coaching?

I know the game has advanced plenty in 50 years but if the blue print has worked before?

Vossy has just got that glow of success about him.

I'd consider Brett Ratten if he's available, and take on Voss as an assistant. More likely we'll probably end up with Mark Williams (not Chocko) the other one that coaches our two's.
