Exactly!  I am just passing on what I am hearing as I know others are like minded and interested in what’s happening in the background.

Why don’t you just keep your comments to yourself, does it make you feel like a bigger man to bring others down or to potentially throw things back in the face if they get something wrong?

God your a sensitive individual.

I actually wasn't bringing you down. You've made a big statement stating that we've gone cold on Tholstrup. So what's that based on what exactly? Some have asked the reasoning why and you haven't to responded to those enquiring? Considering Taylor made such a huge effort to go and meet the family personally I am even more intrigued why we have gone cold all of a sudden?

All the mock drafts in the past 24 hours seems to still point to the Dees as being a strong consideration for Tholstrup.

I brought up the Caddy comment because you confidently stated that If we still hold on to pick 6 we will select Caddy... which seems like it won't be the case as Windsor looks to be our main preferred option.

This is why I'm half struggling to believe we've immediately gone cold on Tholstrup consideration what you confidently said about Caddy.

From my view during the championship, Tholstrup is energetic and determined footballer, eager at the contest.  Loves a goal.  Good aggression.  Skilled player. Doesn’t accumulate a lot of the footy.  Suited to a goalkicking half forward role.

Imv he plays like Cam Rayner or Cam Zuhaar.

Would be worthy of the Dees pick 13/14

AFL website profile

Recruiters were impressed by Tholstrup's season, particularly his commitment to his role at senior level for Subiaco in their forward line. The forward/midfielder enjoyed a strong carnival for Western Australia and plays with some physicality and strength. He matched it with senior opposition through the season and will do the same early in his AFL career.

Suggests to me he wanted to meet someone in Perth. Otherwise he could have flown to Esperance directly and saved a lot of time.

You need to go via Perth to get to Esperance

Why did he decline an invitation to attend the draft?

Tholstrup was asked this on AFL gettable and explained it well.

From Esperance just to Perth is a fair hike I believe and he stated that trying to get all the family and friends to Perth alone would have taken an effort in itself let alone getting them all too Melbourne.

He said it would have been too hard trying to organise 20 plus family and friends to Melbourne.

@Pennant St Dee might explain it better but I believe his home town to Perth is a bit of an effort?

Thanks mate.

I’m sure JT and co will do their due diligence to ensure we don’t get a 2-3 year player ala Jackson.

Beautiful location. Espy to Perth is a 8+ hour drive. I did it once hitchhiking in the middle of summer. Ahh... the stupidity of youth!

Can see why he'd stay home for the night if his whole family couldn't get over.

Sometimes we forget these are just kids, often from families that aren't flush with cash

Yep, makes complete sense and understandable that he chooses not to attend draft night

Apologies. Google let me down. (To be fair to Google, I may have misread my search results. I'm convinced I read that there are regular direct flights from Melbourne to Esperance, but given I can't find that same information today, I'll assume the mistake was wholly mine.)

It's worth looking at Davo (a long time junior watcher/expert) from Bigfooty November 2022 early predictions as to who the best draft prospects were for 2023.  Tholstrup was considered a top 10 prospect by many watchers 12 months ago.

1. Harley Reid - Bendigo - 185cm 82kg - really shun at the champs, has been excellent all year in a variety of positions
2. Daniel Curtin - Claremont - 195cm 91kg - best afield in the u17s pre GF game, terrific game after being injured for a large chunk of the yr
3. Jed Walter - GC A - 195cm 91kg - wonderful season showing off surprising athleticism and kicking 9 goals in 4 games for the Allies at the champs
4. Koltyn Tholstrup - Subiaco - 186cm 80kg - one of the best for WA in the champs, forward who can rotate in midfield
5. Zane Duursma - Gippsland - 188cm 73kg - a real danger in front of goals, can also rotate through midfield, he was a real weapon for Vic country that they missed in the finale
6. Archer Reid - Gippsland - 201cm 85kg - athletic and flexible KPF, had a huge trials game, was ok at the champs, but has heaps of potential
7. Nick Watson - Eastern - 169cm 66kg - tough, electric small forward, loves a goal and can kick them from anywhere
8. Jack Delean - Sth Adel - 181cm 73kg - was great last season and had a good champs this yr, but didnt dominate the sanfl u18
9. Nate Caddy - Northern - 190cm 83kg - high flying medium forward, took a tonne of huge pack marks this yr, excited to see him fly high again next yr
10. Ashton Moir - Glenlg - 186cm 78kg - had a good sanfl u18 season, had 1 good and 1 poor champs games

Interesting, not a Tasmaniac in that group.

If you look at Cal Twomey's phantom draft, Tholstrop is apparently in the mix at Essendon's pick 9, Adelaide's pick 10, our pick 11, and St Kilda's pick 13.

I doubt he would have been available at 15 if we hadn't moved up, so I think the assertion that we've traded up for a guy who would have been there at our pick isn't right.

Even if we have, however, that might still be worth it to guarantee who we wanted, rather than rolling the dice on whoever was left.

It looks like we will be in the right part of the draft at 11 for one of Leake, O'Sullivan, Tholstrop, or Caddy depening on what other clubs do.  Could see it getting shuffled if Adelaide moves up or WCE jumps back in to draft Curtain at eight.

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,

    GALLANT by KC from Casey

The world “gallant” is not one that is readily acceptable to losing teams in our game of football so when it was used in the context of the Casey Demons’ loss to Sandringham in yesterday’s match at Casey Fields, it left a bitter taste in the mouth.  The Demons went into the game against the St Kilda affiliated Zebras with the advantage of playing on their home turf (not that this has been a major asset in 2024) and with very little else going in their favour. The Saints have close to a full
