Pretty sad that they need to post this. But at least they have a banner for their girls, many of the clubs don’t. 😔

The culture that our women’s team have going is made up of many components. One part of that is the passion the Demon Army have for this team. If your team has a banner and the other doesn’t, you are already ahead of the opposition before the game even starts.
Good on you WCW and your Demon Army companions

Nice to have a gameday to look forward to after all the off-field nonsense we've been dealing with lately.

Reckon our superior fire power will get us across the line but it will be a tough contest.

Dees by 10 points

In the other big game hoping the Lions can do us a favour against the crows.

Are we a very good team, or a very, very good team?  We will find out this evening.

I think we are the latter!  Dees by 10 points.

Thanks, FND. We do what we do purely out of love for our team. But it’s always nice to know we’re appreciated. I know some might think it’s just a banner, no biggie. But the girls tell us all the time how much it means to them. Katie and Tyla mentioned it yet again at the AFLW function on Thursday in their speeches. They also love the guard of honour every week. We sometimes have such a long G.O.H. it’s quite the spectacle. There’s no limit to the number of people allowed on the ground at suburban venues and boy, do we go all out. 😁

We actually feel bad for oppo cheer squads who can’t muster enough people to make and/or get a banner up. North are genuine contenders yet they have to ask for helpers. If I wasn’t on our banner crew I’d help them tonight. Even in the men’s at our match vs North in Hobart they asked for our assistance. We ended up taking over 🤭 such is our enthusiasm and the camaraderie of cheer squads.

Anyways, tonight’s match is a true test for us. I’m confident we’ll win.

The mighty Dees by 16 points. Zanks to kick a hatful (as my mate @layzie would say 😁).

Not gloating (except so gloating it’s nuts) but I’ll be on my usual cheer squad duties tonight, that is, after I’m done hobnobbing in the Pavilion Function Room at Ikon thanks to @Katrina Dee Fan who kindly offered me a ticket in her place as she can’t attend tonight (enjoy Paul McCartney, Kat!). I’ll deign to chat to any Demonlanders who might be at the match, so long as my posh (new) friends don’t see me doing so. 😁

LOL the folks at the function won’t know what hit ‘em. 😂

Jeez. Watched some of the Western Bulldogs game. they have fallen hard. No wins from 7. Belted by an expansion team and conceding 96 points in the process. I have a soft spot for them given they flew the flag for women's footy with the Dees for a long time but those in charge of the women's program at Whitten Oval have run it into the ground. Big changes needed.

I'm actually going tonight. Haven't been to a women's game in years. But it's great that we are scoring really high now and looking foward to seing Bannon hopefully dominate.

Lions playing very well but poor goal kicking letting them down. Hopefully won't come back to bite them in the second half.

That seems to be happening

So do we need adelaide to win to get closer to the mill or bris to win so get closer to top?

 assuming we win

They're within 5 points and have the breeze in the last quarter. still all to play for.

Great question. For mine the McClelland is of the utmost importance at this stage. If we’re not minor premiers, while interstate finals suck, it doesn’t mean too much. The million dollars on the other hand…

edit: scratch that. Go Lions!!!

edit (again): I’ve decided I want the McClelland AND a premiership. Is that too much to ask?

Brisbane should be gifted a couple of goals just as compensation for having to wear those hideous jumpers.

Lions do us a favour (although did their best to throw that game away).

Now we need to take care of our own business later this evening.

I just saw the result of the Lions game!! That makes tonight's game massive. A chance to go top of the ladder in a comp where the top team gets home advantage for the grand final is HUGE

So before the game I'm grabbing dinner in Lygon st first. Don't really want to wear Melbourne stuff down there for a few reasons

Gee, that Bris vs Adel game was a ripper. The top AFLW teams are great to watch, especially us!

The standard just gets better and better. Amazing what opportunity produces in society, eh?

Uh oh. Top of the ladder available for the winner. MFCSS kicking in.

This is the only circumstance the Demons' Women's team ever loses!

And yet, I am still confident.

What an incredible welcome to country that was.

I've only had a little bit of time with elders, that fella covered so much from what I've learnt from them.

Mentioning children born on their land are considered part of their country and from their country is beautiful.

Loved it.

  • CASEY: Geelong

There was a time in the second quarter of the game at the Cattery on Friday afternoon when the Casey Demons threatened to take the game apart against the Cats. The Demons had been well on top early but were struggling to convert their ascendancy over the ground until Tom Fullarton’s burst of three goals in the space of eight minutes on the way to a five goal haul and his best game for the club since arriving from Brisbane at the end of 2023. He was leading, marking and otherwise giving his opponents a merry dance as Casey grabbed a three goal lead in the blink of an eye. Fullarton has now kicked ten goals in Casey’s three matches and, with Melbourne’s forward conversion woes, he is definitely in with a chance to get his first game with the club in next week’s Gather Round in Adelaide. Despite the tall forward’s efforts - he finished with 19 disposals and eight marks and had four hit outs as back up to Will Verrall in the second half - it wasn’t enough as Geelong reigned in the lead through persistent attacks and eventually clawed their way to the lead early in the last and held it till they achieved the end aim of victory.

  • REPORT: Geelong

I was disappointed to hear Goody say at his post match presser after the team’s 39 point defeat against Geelong that "we're getting high quality entry, just poor execution" because Melbourne’s problems extend far beyond that after its 0 - 4 start to the 2025 football season. There are clearly problems with poor execution, some of which were evident well before the current season and were in play when the Demons met the Cats in early May last year and beat them in a near top-of-the-table clash that saw both sides sitting comfortably in the top four after round eight. Since that game, the Demons’ performances have been positively Third World with only five wins in 19 games with a no longer majestic midfield and a dysfunctional forward line that has become too easy for opposing coaches to counter. This is an area of their game that is currently being played out as if they were all completely panic-stricken.

  • PREGAME: Essendon

Facing the very real and daunting prospect of starting the season with five straight losses, the Demons head to South Australia for the annual Gather Round, where they’ll take on the Bombers in search of their first win of the year. Who comes in, and who comes out?

  • NON-MFC: Round 04

Round 4 kicks off with a blockbuster on Thursday night as traditional rivals Collingwood and Carlton clash at the MCG, with the Magpies looking to assert themselves as early-season contenders and the Blues seeking their first win of the season. Saturday opens with Gold Coast hosting Adelaide, a key test for the Suns as they aim to back up their big win last week, while the Crows will be looking to keep their perfect record intact. Reigning wooden spooners Richmond have the daunting task of facing reigning premiers Brisbane at the ‘G and the Lions will be eager to reaffirm their premiership credentials after a patchy start. Saturday night sees North Melbourne take on Sydney at Marvel Stadium, with the Swans looking to build on their first win of the season last week against a rebuilding Roos outfit. Sunday’s action begins with GWS hosting West Coast at ENGIE Stadium, a game that could get ugly very early for the visitors. Port Adelaide vs St Kilda at Adelaide Oval looms as a interesting clash, with both clubs form being very hard to read. The round wraps up with Fremantle taking on the Western Bulldogs at Optus Stadium in what could be a fierce contest between two sides with top-eight ambitions. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons besides us winning?
