Can I make a double entendre joke involving Petty’s name and the behaviour of being petty?

Too obvious?

Too obvious and I shouldn’t bother?

And I should be [censored] up the [censored] until my [censored] is [censored]?

Jesus, it’s just a joke…

He's obviously having serious consideration of going home. There's enough smoke there.

Do we cash in now with one of Adelaide's early picks or do we wait until free agency.

There is also the consideration with his foot injury. From what I heard it was a pretty significant injury to the point where there is some ongoing concerns whether it'll hold up to the rigours of AFL level in years to come.

I wouldn't be surprised if eventually Petty does go back home to SA whether that's this period or free agency.

Why? We would be able to match that deal. In fact I would be shocked if we don’t have an extension on the table for him if he’s willing to commit beyond the next 2 years.

I love Petty but he is not worth 800k a year, we can’t be held to ransom

Jesus. Did you have a ‘petty’ joke all lined up? Tell it to your probation officer then, it’s fine.

On the assumption we're chips in on next year's flag rather than taking a potential step back:

Petty should only be traded if Harry McKay or an equivalent proven key forward is coming through the doors. And even McKay won't solve our atrocious conversion for goal under pressure (although he once kicked 58.33 in a season)

I cannot fathom how the list management and coaching team will be confident of winning next year's flag with T Mac, BBB and JVR as our 3 best key forwards, while losing Petty and not recruiting another established KPF. The fact that they (probably) called T Hawkins shows you how the club feels about their tall forward depth chart, and how life would look like without Petty.

Unless we get a proven 35-40 goal a year tall forward which is what Petty is highly likely to kick next year off a 20+ game season, then we'll hold Petty to his contract.

if the Crows want Petty they need to trade us (puts on flax jacket) Tex Walker! He looked awesome this year and looks like he has another couple of years left in him.

Why would we consider trading him when we're short on forwards and he has 2 years left on his contract. Next year at the earliest,

Also why does the AFL tolerate clubs trying to entice players to break contracts. Ramshackle organisation.

$1m is a huge offer. His footy career is short. gotta make the best of it while you can. And he has had a couple of injuries so durability an issue. If I'm Petty I'm taking that offer. Few people wouldn't

but it's not his choice

if radelaide value him so much where is the trade offer mfc can't refuse?

Agree, it's called (draft) tampering in the NBA massive fines. I loathe the AFL as an organisation just so compromised in every facet of the game

I heard it was only $1M year one and that over four years worked out to be more like $600K per year

That news item said 'around $800k' a year after the first-year $1m...

got that. there has to be a player coming our way otherwise we won't do it. picks no use. we'll just be leaving ourselves short otherwise.

HEAVEN OR HELL by The Oracle

Clashes between Melbourne and St Kilda are often described as battles between the forces of heaven and hell. However, based on recent performances, it’s hard to get excited about the forthcoming match between these two sides. It would be fair to say that, at the moment, both of these teams are in the doldrums. The Demons have become the competition’s slow starters while the Saints are not only slow to begin, they’re not doing much of a job finishing off their games either. About the only th

    THE BLOW by Whispering Jack

Narrm’s finals prospects took a crushing blow after the team’s insipid performance at Optus Stadium against a confident Waaljit Marawar in the first of its Doug Nicholls Round outings for 2024.  I use the description “crushing blow” advisedly because, although the season is not yet at it’s halfway mark, the Demons have now failed abysmally in two of their games against teams currently occupying bottom eight places on the ladder.  The manner in which these losing games were played out w

HALF FULL by KC from Casey

It was a case of the Casey Demons going into a game with a glass half full in their match up against the Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields on Saturday. As the list of injured and unavailable AFL and VFL listed players continues to grow and with Melbourne taking all three emergencies to Perth for the weekend on a “just in case” basis, its little brother was always destined to struggle. Casey was left with only eight AFL listed players from who to select their team but only two - an out-of-form

GAMEDAY: Rd 10 vs West Coast

It's Game Day and the Demons have returned to the site of their drought breaking Premiership to take on the West Coast Eagles in what could very well be a danger game for Narrm at Optus Stadium. A win and a percentage boost will keep the Dees in top four contention whilst a loss will cast doubt on the Dees flag credentials and bring them back to the pack fighting for a spot in the 8 as we fast approach the halfway point of the season.

    WARNING by William from Waalitj

As a long term resident of Waalitj Marawar, I am moved to warn my fellow Narrm fans that a  danger game awaits. The locals are no longer the easybeats who stumbled, fumbled and bumbled their way to the good fortune of gathering the number one draft pick and a generational player in Harley Reid last year. They are definitely better than they were then.   Young Harley has already proven his worth with some stellar performances for a first year kid playing among men. He’s taken hangers, k
