For the people in the room they did skip the Collingwood final or go back to it?

Gee Clint got a bit salty with some people at the end when they came back from that extra long break.

Maybe he wanted to get home early as he probably has to get up for weekend today.

Did anyone go up to Grundy & have a chat?

If Kozzi didn’t get suspended he could have easily finished 3rd!

Clearly we should trade him or send him to Casey until he learns how to play or something 🙃

I watched the live stream. Which was mainly pretty good.

As expected, Christian Petracca wins his 2nd Keith "Bluey" Truscott Memorial Trophy. Thought it would be a lot closer with Jack Viney though.

Heard the word "Culture" a dozen or more times which is good. I am assuming that some of that is a subtle reminder to Clayton Oliver. But I am sure he got lots of love and well wishes this evening. We all love and support Clarrie and obviously want him to do well.

Steven May, absolutely brilliant speech! He said exactly what we were all thinking! We are better than [censored] Collingwood! Let's beat them next year!

Hopefully Clarrie and the rest of team is inspired by the classic Ron Barassi quote repeated by Simon Goodwin which is "if it is to be, it is up to me!" Let's win that Premiership on the MCG next year Demons!

Looks like he wasn't there according to earlier comments. I didn't watch it.

Why a big loss? I'm sure we'll have a very competent and capable sports medicine doctor joins the ranks next season.

Goody said she’s the best doctor he’s ever worked with.

Fair call. She's no Bruce Reid though! He was the greatest.

easy to critique Binman. how did you go with your predictions?

I wasn't having a shot at you dd.

And many wouldn't have picked him to finish top 10 - chronically under rated player. Well, not by the coaches and players, just fans.

How did I go with my predictions?

Picked the top 10 in order.

Edit: picking the top 10 in order was meant to be a joke.

That’s because you genuinely don’t know what role he’s being asked to play every week.
Half this site thinks ANB is a liability but he came 6th. Go figure.

The one set of awards you can’t complain about is the B&F. Our coaches give very specific votes for very nuanced things that we have no idea about.

Thanks

Hahaha May is the best

We are a better team than Collingwood. Damn straight we are!

I congratulated him afterwards on his speech, he replied “I only said what we were all thinking, I f%^#ing  hate Collingwood”.  Love him!

How does the misspelling of a player’s name get through?!?! Where’s the proofreader? Inexcusable!

Watch the media have a ball with this. Well, who gives a CENSORED.

It's TRUE!

A great night, the players must have felt the love in the room. Well done MFC and the supporters there.

Maybe they hired the person who did the spellchecks for Collingwood’s banner?

Nibla 6th.

🥳 so happy that despite the endless [censored]-canning he cops on here, the people whose assessment  matters the most gave him the credit he deserves. Onya Nibs!

And just quietly… HOW GOOD IS KNUCKLES MCVEE?! The kid’s a ️

Loved seeing an event where some of the “lesser lights” got to shine.

Spaz a deserving winner of the True Player award (again). 👏

Barrie Vagg ....life m'ship.  Correct me if i'm wromg but that's one of OD's favs from that era if i'm not mistake.

B. Vagg, could pull a special when the whole team was in a dire position in the last quarter. Great player.

Has Goody done his speech yet?

He usually sounds pretty refreshed at these nights.

Surely Goody is going to have a tonne of 'learnings' to impart to the gathered masses?

But is someone really the best player for the season when they miss almost half the year? Where should the line be drawn? Get 60 possessions and kick 10 in round 1 then miss the rest of the season with injury? Maybe a team's best player on paper, but not the best player for the team over that season I'd suggest.

That said, regarding the Flower winning only 1 matter I'd agree there's scope maybe to tweak the scoring system.

Somewhere on Grevile Street.

Despite coming second in the BnF surely this was Viney's best ever year for us.

Some players do well when the team lifts.

Some players lift the team when the team's not doing well.

Jack kept us in games when we were struggling.

Of course, it’s not the backline, you might argue and you would probably be right. It’s the boot studder (do they still have them?), the midfield, the recruiting staff, the forward line, the kicking coach, the Board, the interchange bench, the supporters, the folk at Casey, the head coach and the club psychologist  It’s all of them and all of us for having expectations that were sufficiently high to have believed three weeks ago that a restoration of the Melbourne team to a position where we might still be in contention for a finals berth when the time for the midseason bye arrived. Now let’s look at what happened over the period of time since Melbourne overwhelmed the Sydney Swans at the MCG in late May when it kicked 8.2 to 5.3 in the final quarter (and that was after scoring 3.8 to two straight goals in the second term).

  • CASEY: Essendon

Casey’s unbeaten run was extended for at least another fortnight after the Demons overran a persistent Essendon line up by 29 points at ETU Stadium in Port Melbourne last night. After conceding the first goal of the evening, Casey went on a scoring spree from about ten minutes in, with five unanswered majors with its fleet of midsized runners headed by the much improved Paddy Cross who kicked two in quick succession and livewire Ricky Mentha who also kicked an early goal. Leading the charge was recruit of the year, Riley Bonner while Bailey Laurie continued his impressive vein of form. With Tom Campbell missing from the lineup, Will Verrall stepped up to the plate demonstrating his improvement under the veteran ruckman’s tutelage. The Demons were looking comfortable for much of the second quarter and held a 25-point lead until the Bombers struck back with two goals in the shadows of half time. On the other side of the main break their revival continued with first three goals of the half. Harry Sharp, who had been quiet scrambled in the Demons’ first score of the third term to bring the margin back to a single point at the 17 minute mark and the game became an arm-wrestle for the remainder of the quarter and into the final moments of the last.
