Is a Naughton that bad of a kick for goal? He has a history kicking a lot of goals in a season.

He has some shocking misses but gets so many opportunities that he usually makes up for it - I’d trade for him in a heartbeatĀ

Would love to see him play almost a similar role to TMac in 2021 - taking big grabs up on the wings and delivering to our forwards advantageĀ

Jack Darling’s resume reads: premiership player, All Australian, 5 time club leading goalkicker and Eagles life member. Has played 20+ games for year. Ā Contract expires end 2024.Ā

31 yo. 510 goals. 1300 marks.Ā

Sure age is a factor. But whilst we are in the premiership window and having key forwards still developing, is he worthy of a phone call? Ā Just a thought  …just an opinion Ā Ā

What are your thoughts on Tyler Keitel for some added depth?

From the WAFL, 2023 leading goal kicker (57 goals from 18 games), age 27, 196 cm, 91 kg, ready to go. Averaged 3.2 goals/game, 5.1 marks, 13.9 disposals.

Has a booming kick on him, marks 55m out and slots them through. Looks like he can take a mark as well.

My only concern is the 27 years of age, however, he appears far far more capable than Schache while Tom McDonald and Ben Brown will 31 years of age next year. Worth a look at, at least from a rookie stand point.

Nup no good, why do we need a strong leading, strong marking player when we will just continually bang it in over his head??

Yep.

We need a KPF tall enough to outmark anyone. Basically a 3metre Peter

Imagine the conspiracy theories if Lynch came to Melbourne

What conspiracy theories?

Harry McKay has gone backwards at 300m/hr. Barely worth a late first rounder. Wouldn’t touch him with a 14ft pole.Ā

Exciting if true. Begs the question though why extend to 2029 and meet other clubs?

Nope, don't need another aged player who is struggling with injuries.

The problem is there isn’t a Tom Lynch hanging round to grab like Richmond did in 2019.

Petty and JVR with an extra pre season is in my mind at least equal to TMAC and BBB. It’s not Buddy and Roughy but it’s enough.Ā
Ā

I think our problem is we haven’t replaced Jackson as Grundy wasn’t the answer.Ā

These two are huge talents but Petty seems very injury prone and Jvr really needs to get his agro under control.Ā  These two firing and unfettered will be awesome but I reckon given the status of the other three you mentioned really means we need two more big fwds. Plus Grundy is moving on as well. Hope we can find some.Ā

What would they want? It’s a first rounder for sure. F1 and a couple of 2s this year?Ā

Not much point meeting Larkey now. Fake for sure. Pity cos Larkey would be perfect for us

Good 3rd tall option but hasn’t been healthy enough to count as a reliable depth and could easily be needed at the other end.Ā

I’d put him down as Melksham replacement but still need at least 2 ready to go options to replace Grundy, BBB and T Mc.Ā

I reckon Naughton might be our best chance in nabbing a Tall Power Forward out of Contract in 2024, 24 years of age, Dogs desperate for picks.

Been poor this year Naughts are change of scenery with his mates Lachie and big Shaq dog might be what the doctor ordered, times are changing for WB.

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.Ā

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.
