Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Apparently they have the same manager (Brayshaw and Maynard). If I were Maynard I would have asked my manager to check in with Brayshaw and ask whether he'd be ok with me coming over to apologise in person at x time on x day. You don't just "pop in".

Maynard should have been like George and taken a bottle of Pepsi over instead of wine.

David Mundy. 376 games of AFL

“If Brayden Maynard was falling and that was Scott Pendlebury underneath him, I think he would make a different decision than cover up and just protect himself and not worry about the other player.”

When asked by Adam Papalia what Maynard should have done differently, Mundy used all of his 376 games of AFL experience when building his response.

“When you’ve jumped up and you’re in the air and there’s a player underneath you, you have the ability to almost catch yourself as you’re falling on top of them. It would have been really awkward and they’d have had a tumble, but that response has a much lesser chance of resulting in serious health concerns.”

I think Mundy nails this, if it's a teammate he's protecting the teammate. Because it's an oppo player he doesn't have the same care and instead is happy to throw his body in. Honestly if Maynard gets off it will be the biggest disgrace in AFL tribunal history.

Let's just make it clear - if Collingwood decide to put up an appeal on legal grounds to an AFL tribunal decision that rubs out Maynard for 2 weeks or more, what they are actually signalling to the rest of the league is that "Collingwoods premiership chances and our players are more important than anyone else's getting perminant brain damage".

I know Collingwood are one of the 'big clubs', but the AFL should be putting a very hard word on them not to legally appeal the tribunal decision, as should the AFLPA.

Don't expect anything from the AFLPA.

I think we are about to hear some real s--t from Collingwood. And even more if it goes to appeal.

Just wait for them to pull out the "well he should've been off the ground as he was concussed already", or "his history of concussions means this impact is more than what it would've been with other players".

They will stoop to every low possible on this just like their scum fans.

It was reported by the Browne creep, who is, apparently the son of the E Colli Wobbler President.

Actually as much as I'd like to string up Tom Browne (who I thought had given up AFL journalism) It was Tom Morris who reported this initially.

So much complexity between the two teams on this incident.  Corey as a former player, Peter Maynard the GM (or CEO) of the Casey Demons FC, as someone else mentioned Kate Hore is dating Brayden's brother too.... Then there is the whole aspect of Brayshaws/Frawleys etc....

Really? I recall Jobe sooking about it and not returning the brownlow... ever. Said he couldn't find it, or something similar

Jobe wasn't "screwed", he was banned for drugs not permitted by WADA at the time and therefore could not win the brownlow. Pretty simple

He was screwed by his own club. Pressures on him to confirm under the Hird regime would have been immense on such a young man.

I didn't mean he shouldn't have lost the Brownlow.  It was the corrrect decison, just that he was let down by people who should have cared for him was shocking.

I'm hoping if they can say that the AFL can say look at his action pregame. One is fact.

He'll go for 12+ weeks if that's the angle their advocate takes.... i.e that would suggest they have nothing.

Their fan base has bleated about that, but it won't form part of their case.

Will Angus be asked to give evidence in this case. And if so who would call him the AFL or the Pies.

Depends on what he has to say. If he is willing to speak up for Maynard, and is medically capable, the Pies lawyers will call him. If not, the AFL lawyers probably will not. Bit of a toss up really. We would have to be much closer to the legal action and discussions to really know.

Doesn’t the AFL fund the AFLPA? That’s why they are a toothless tiger?

if dangermouse is still their spokesperson (whatever) they will stay quiet. he has already come out and said it was accidental (footy action), nothing to see here.

why an aflpa spokesperson  would make a statement like that before a hearing is very poor judgement

If it was an on field report, it should be the umpire giving his views on what happened.

i also haven’t seen the words ‘football action’ related to any classification.  It was either reckless or intentional (take your pick), high contact, severe impact.  That should be 3-4 to 6-8 weeks.

then, consider his words before the game about how he intended to play.

this prize low life should get rubbed out for a while.  Right, Bruz?

Nah... it's all good cos that was in his role in the media and 'commentary' on the night. We don't have conflicts of interest here Daisy! You are reading too much into it 😁

to be pedantic, they use the term careless, rather than reckless

The flowers didn't make it to a vase!

I'm confident that they will not be calling Brayshaw to defend Maynard's careless actions that could cost him the rest of the season, his career and long term health.  Joining the dots, I'd say everyone involved at mfc is seething on this.  He knocked him unconscious for 2 minutes. I hate that it needs to be a motivating factor, but if the players are not breathing fire right from the opening bounce on Friday night, I'm not sure they ever could.

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
