Turner got swung forward today and did very well supposedly

Oh, this is interesting. He's too slight to be a key back at the moment, but he has a lot of mongrel, reads the play pretty well and has good hands.

JJ needs to come in next week

Jordan played well also.

Oh - a bit like the Petracca goal that the Carlton player clipped the ball on the goal line

Sorry I forgot there seems to be different rules / standards applicable to whoever is the AFL darlings

JVR had his elbow tucked when he contacted McFlop - nothing to it - if it was a Daicos or Cripps it wouldn't even get a mention

Yeah, it probably wouldn’t get a mention Sydee, I still think he'll get a week. I'm not saying it's right, fair or otherwise. There wasn't much in it but the elbow did rise slightly before contact.

JVR out with a 1 match ban.

Looks like Grundy is in.

Grundy in for Roo

Spargo in for Laurie (Sub)

JJ in for Gus

Tomlinson in for MacDonald

Tomlinson to play key back. May Forward have to kick a winning score.

Any thoughts on Langdons lack of form? Seems to carrying something

Out: JVR In: Grundy
Out: T Mc In: Woey or Spargo (Tracc forward)
Out: Gus In: JJ

Possibly
Out: Hibberd In: Turner/Tommo (matchups)

Got to go with a forward line of;

FF: Pickett Grundy Fritsch
HF: Tracc Smith ANB
Int: Chandler

That has mobility and skill around Grundy/Gawn as the long bomb target and Smith as the lead up.

If that means a midfield of Viney, Oliver, Sparrow, JJ then so be it.

Tommy could actually be a decent sub, coming on fresh when the pace is out of the game.

Who was there and where's the match report for christ's sake!!

On my desk in 10!!

Are those reports as reliable as TMac moving freely and fit for AFL? 🧐🧐

I haven’t felt this low since Liam Jurrah machete’d his cousin. Please be kind to us next week football gods 🙏

These are good thoughts.

let’s go with something like this. I really think bring back Tomlinson, create the wall again. Bounce off half back.

nothing to lose next week - let’s get on a run. Play with enjoyment and fire.

[censored] ‘em.

I’m not very good at this so be gentle

Out

brayshaw, Salem, JVR, TMac

in

jj (for Gus) tomlo (tall on defence, we’re undefeated with him there with 3 talls), grundy, spargo or WW2 (woe woe 2, I want my WW2 moniker to stick).

move the magents around

tomlo could swing fwd if needed - or not.

Hibbo stays in.

jeez I’d read the riot act to Langdon he has been soft as for ages

I also want the following ins

HARDNESS. Jesus I am sick of soft insipid starts. It’s been an issue for ages and ages and ages.

composure and decision making (hence the spargo suggestion for fwd line delivery)

I also want to keep Viney ready in case we make it to the GF. His one goal should be to flatten Cox and Maynard if not suspended for 2. Just endless contretemps. Lay them both out. Old Testament style. Sorry I’m still livid and a roiling sea of rage. I’ve a vision of Viney holding the cup aloft and saying, gracelessly “this one is for all the bottom feeder fans at other clubs who think it’s ok to cheer and chant their clubs name when one of their players has mown down a player who is then unconscious. Suck it losers!”

sorry. I’m not Gandhi or Buddha

Remember last week when a few people were mad that we pulled players out of the Casey final and not a week later we are facing 2 forced changes in pivotal roles.
This is why, and thank goodness we did that!

Won't have to worry about Jack Martin. He's gonski

So no JVR, Petty, Melksham, Brayshaw

starting to add up.

But please don’t resort to Grundy as an option. not only can he not play fwd at all. he negatively impacts our best players game significantly. I haven’t seen Gawn have such little influence in 8 years since the first half of this year

Turner to play forward.

He may be another Petty.

Apparently was tried in practice match today.

It’s the hope that kills you. I was very hopeful of success this year. Now I would be surprised if we don’t go out in straight sets.

Surely Goodwin would be under pressure next year if this happens?

They’ll beat us at clearance and pump it forward, sheesh, could get ugly

What's the bet Goodwin will play Harmes and that's a mistake, so Goodwin will go with plan A or plan A.

Harmsey did his hammy this morning in the scratch match against Carlton reserves.

Forgive the pun, but it would be petty if we didn’t play Grundy now.

Grundy for JVR

Tomlinson for Brayshaw

Rivers into the middle. Wouldn’t bother with JJ. Give Trent the time in a big game.

And we just look better when Lever is free to intercept with AT there.

You could look at TMac for Laurie/Spargo but I wouldn’t do that. TMac will play an important role.

Surely the club appeals the JVR suspension. Was graded medium impact, McStay played out the game could argue it down to low impact surely?

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kate’s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwood’s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.

  • CASEY: Williamstown

The Casey Demons issued a strong statement to the remaining teams in the VFL race with a thumping 76-point victory in their Elimination Final against Williamstown. This was the sixth consecutive win for the Demons, who stormed into the finals from a long way back with scalps including two of the teams still in flag contention. Senior Coach Taylor Whitford would have been delighted with the manner in which his team opened its finals campaign with high impact after securing the lead early in the game when Jai Culley delivered a precise pass to a lead from Noah Yze, who scored his first of seven straight goals for the day. Yze kicked his second on the quarter time siren, by which time the Demons were already in control. The youngster repeated the dose in the second term as the Seagulls were reduced to mere

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Collingwood

Narrm time isn’t a standard concept—it’s the time within the traditional lands of Narrm, the Woiwurrung name for Melbourne. Indigenous Round runs for rounds 3 and 4 and is a powerful platform to recognise the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in sport, community, and Australian culture. This week, suburban footy returns to the infamous Victoria Park as the mighty Narrm take on the Collingwood Magpies at 1:05pm Narrm time, Sunday 31 August. Come along if you can.

  • AFLW REPORT: St. Kilda

The Dees demolished the Saints in a comprehensive 74-pointshellacking.  We filled our boots with percentage — now a whopping 520.7% — and sit atop the AFLW ladder. Melbourne’s game plan is on fire, and the competition is officially on notice.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

It was yet another disappointing outcome in a disappointing year, with Melbourne missing the finals for the second consecutive season. Indeed, it wasn’t even close, as the Demons' tally of seven wins was less than half the number required to rank among the top eight teams in the competition. When the dust of the game settled and supporters reflected on Melbourne's  six-point defeat at the hands of close game specialists Collingwood, Max Gawn's words about his team’s unfulfilled potential rang true … well, almost.
