Of course if Port tank then they will end up 4th and avoid going to Brisbane.

Or Collingwood at the G? ย Canโ€™t imagine theyโ€™d be fond of either.

Iโ€™m easily satisfied today. ย The following will do me nicely:

- ย some solid โ€˜in-gameโ€™ breaks for Max, Tracc, Vines and Maysie;

- ย someย game-day run into Fritta;

- ย Clarrie to clean out any remaining cobwebs;

- ย a good look at Disco in the Ones;

- ย nice little win;

- ย no injuries.

Thanks

Hope so. Maybe we have a half of two talls forward.

Hope we play well and are "in form" against the Swans.

Winning is preferred. As it helps build momentum for us.

Don't care where we play in the finals. You gotta beat the best to be the best. Although, obviously at the MCG against the Magpies is preferred.

No injuries is important. As we need to be fit and healthy for finals football.

Lastly, I hope Christian Petracca plays extremely well and gets the 3 votes in our match today. That helps him to be a sneaky chance to win the 2023 Brownlow Medal! Fingers crossed!๐Ÿคž

Have a good hit out to half time, then cue in the rack. May subbed off, and as in the 2021 Prelim the last 10 minutes bench will consist of May, Max, Lever, Trac and Clarry.

Jack viney just keeps the team going on the field.ย  Although I wouldn't mind seeing him rested during the game also.

If we know we are playing Thursday, Iโ€™d give the AFL the big FU they deserve and make as many late changes as possible.ย
For one I would pull May out. If he gets injured or concussed we are in big trouble.ย

Absoluteley No. 1 priority.

Or subbed off at half time due to ' tightness'ย  or similiar.ย  Dr. Laura will think of something.

You donโ€™t need an injury to sub off now. Tactical sub. The tactic is we donโ€™t want our best players injured before finals.ย

You don't need a medical reason to deploy the sub this year.

Will be great to see Carlton beaten todayย

I loved watching the cats get put to the sword at home last night.

Blues going down would be too much fun for 1 weekend.

Then Toby knocks them out of the finals in Week 1.ย  Kicking 5 on Marchbank?

Thanks and noted.

This match will be one of the greatest Sydney lovefests of all time, from umpires (let's include goal) to commentators.ย

I hope that of all players, Clarry gets through unscathed!

I'd prefer us beating Sydney, and GWS beating Carlton today, which would leave Carlton playing an elimination final against Sydney.

Sydney then take care of Carlton and go out themselves in the semis.

Perfection.

Interested in how the Casey watchers think Disco Turner is traveling.ย  Obviously he's picked to play today, but I'd expected to see more of him this season based off his mature showing Queens Birthday last season before getting injured.

Is he in Sydney?

It really is a spectacular Sydney August day today. I had to move my feet along the couch by the window because they were starting to cook. Rainbow lorikeets staring in the window demanding attention. The occasional small dense cloud giving a little relief from the sun but nothing that would bring rain. The spring winds haven't kicked in yet.

My magical good luck charm wife will be coming along - looks like we got literally the last adjacent seats in the house, up in the goal umpires' reserve (top deck, partially obstructed, exposed!)

My only concern is that we are fairly close to the ledge and she has a habit of levitating when excited during games.

Only the second game of football I've been able to get to in person this season - the other was round 1!

He was injured for the second half of the season else we might have seen him instead of Tommo

Sydneyโ€™s public transport has nothing on Melbourneโ€™sโ€ฆ..

Canโ€™t agree with that. You can tap on and off with your credit card. Great for folks like me who lose on average one Myki card every five days.ย

I think the key part is that on any given weekend about 1/3rd of the system in Sydney is closed for track repairs, with the replacement buses being a nightmare for the drivers because Sydney's roads are all designed to push people onto the tollways, and getting to and from each station in turn requires all kinds of winding and weaving, including three-point turns across intersections!

Although, one thing that is definitely in Sydney train's favour is that I've never picked up that strange smell of barn hay that I get from Melbourne trains. I'm told it is related to a cleaning product they use, but it is especially common on the South-East lines.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Richmond

    Round four kicks off early Saturday afternoon at Casey Fields, as the mighty Narrm host the winless Richmond Tigers in the second week of Indigenous Round celebrations. With ideal footy conditions forecastโ€”20 degrees, overcast skies, and a gentle breeze โ€” expect a fast-paced contest. Narrm enters with momentum and a dangerous forward line, while Richmond is still searching for its first win. With key injuries on both sides and pride on the line, this clash promises plenty.

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

    Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kateโ€™s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwoodโ€™s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.

  • CASEY: Williamstown

    The Casey Demons issued a strong statement to the remaining teams in the VFL race with a thumping 76-point victory in their Elimination Final against Williamstown. This was the sixth consecutive win for the Demons, who stormed into the finals from a long way back with scalps including two of the teams still in flag contention. Senior Coach Taylor Whitford would have been delighted with the manner in which his team opened its finals campaign with high impact after securing the lead early in the game when Jai Culley delivered a precise pass to a lead from Noah Yze, who scored his first of seven straight goals for the day. Yze kicked his second on the quarter time siren, by which time the Demons were already in control. The youngster repeated the dose in the second term as the Seagulls were reduced to mere

    Narrm time isnโ€™t a standard conceptโ€”itโ€™s the time within the traditional lands of Narrm, the Woiwurrung name for Melbourne. Indigenous Round runs for rounds 3 and 4 and is a powerful platform to recognise the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in sport, community, and Australian culture. This week, suburban footy returns to the infamous Victoria Park as the mighty Narrm take on the Collingwood Magpies at 1:05pm Narrm time, Sunday 31 August. Come along if you can.

    The Dees demolished the Saints in a comprehensive 74-pointshellacking. ย We filled our boots with percentage โ€” now a whopping 520.7% โ€” and sit atop the AFLW ladder. Melbourneโ€™s game plan is on fire, and the competition is officially on notice.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

    It was yet another disappointing outcome in a disappointing year, with Melbourne missing the finals for the second consecutive season. Indeed, it wasnโ€™t even close, as the Demons' tally of seven wins was less than half the number required to rank among the top eight teams in the competition. When the dust of the game settled and supporters reflected on Melbourne's ย six-point defeat at the hands of close game specialists Collingwood, Max Gawn's words about his teamโ€™s unfulfilled potential rang true โ€ฆ well, almost.ย
