It’s not. I just wanted to tag you in the post so you see it 😂

I am genuinely interested to know what you think Port will do for the remainder of the H&A season to make sure they hit peak form in September.
I feel like they’ve gone too hard too early and tinkering now is very risky.

No idea to be honest.

But they appear to have taken a completely different approach.

There's no way they wouldn't have some loading program in place.

But they seemed to not drop off in their intensity till the blues game they just lost. Which is weeks later than when we started our loading phase.

I'm guessing the fact they managed seven players in this game isapart of their strategy to manage load, fatgue, rest individual programs etc.

Bur that is risky, because clubs are  loath to make more that 2-3 changes (except for bevo) because sytems are so important.

Seven changes is the reason the blues were favourite against a team going for its 14th straight win.

They can afford a loss and that was obviously a risk they were happy to take.

The results have suited us perfectly so far.

Now they have to bring everyone back because they can’t afford this limp display against the Pies.
A strange time to do this.

It feels to me like Hinkley is on a hiding to nothing. He basically has to win the flag or he’s gone. They went so hard early because another so so start to the season and he’d get sacked. I wonder how much his fear of sacking is impacting their plan for the season.

Now we need Essendon and Geelong to draw and Geelong to sustain 7-10 season ending injuries.
Easy.

So the brother gifts the game to his brother, total capitulation by the Bombers.

Geelong's bigger bodies are absolute kryptonite for Essendon's smaller mids. It looks like men vs boys.

Seeing some pretty bad comments on social media regarding Sam Weideman.

Was reading a stat that he hasn't kicked a goal in 6 week..

How on earth does that happen for a key forward?

It’s times like this you rely on your senior players like Stringer

lol

It’s a real shame there’s not more than 300 Essendon supporters at the ground watching this.

The best thing about the Cats pumping the Bombers is that their percentage doesn’t count but the loss of Essendon’s does.

Really tough draw in the next month for Port, could see a huge drop off

  • PREVIEW: Essendon

Not long ago, the narrative surrounding Melbourne was steeped in pessimism. There was some concern among the pundits (and even some fans) that the club would arrive at the AFL’s Gather Round still winless, vulnerable to a familiar adversary in the Essendon Football Club, and facing significant scrutiny from an ever-critical media on a national stage. Things have changed.

  • REPORT: Gold Coast

Steven King astutely identified the issues that had plagued the Melbourne Football Club over the past two and a half seasons when he auditioned for the newly created coaching role. The side that had claimed the 2021 premiership had become stodgy, slow-paced, and hesitant to take the initiative.

  • PODCAST: Gold Coast

I’ll be away for the next few weeks, so Binman will be holding the fort for our podcasts covering the Suns, Bombers and Lions matches. As a result, there will be no live podcasts during this period, and we won’t be taking calls or voicemails. Binman will still be dipping into this thread to select a few questions to answer, while also combining the long-form Stats Files podcast with the Demonland Podcast for these shows. Your questions and comments are a huge part of what makes the podcast work, so please post anything you’d like to ask or say below and we’ll do our best to give you a shout-out on the show. Please try to keep each post focused on one specific topic or player to make podcast preparation a little easier. If you have multiple topics you’d like to raise, please put them in separate posts.
