I’ll say it - Pickett off Smith on

‘Healy off, Ellingworth on. Weak as [censored]’ 🤣

The viewing experience at this ground is atrocious

I will never understand why you bother coming to the footy only to spend half the game going in and out of your seat to drink. Like why not get drunk for free at home?

I’ve been lectured fairly solidly by some here for calling out Pickett’s performances these past couple of months. Obviously he’s got a whole half of football to make amends, but if this form continues tonight, those lecturers can stick their stat sheets where the Sun don’t shine.

Personally I know where to stick the stats sheets full stop..

Kozzy is scared for the contest after getting suspended early in year he needs a spell

he has to tackle someone before that becomes a risk, and so far there has been no danger of that happening.

Ch 7 the same.

The Saints threw everything at us in the first qtr and we took it well. I expect us to run away with this in the second half.

if nothing 2 half has to be dropped

Very poor if we lose this, they have 3 players out of the game

That sounds a little jaded

Nup...one touch in a half.

Needs to subbed off.

Can't carry that. We didn't Spargo.

Who’s the third?

King, Ross and who else?

Lots of poor decisions and pressure/defence from half forward to the half back line has been very minimal, they are finding a lot of easy passes through the middle.

We are up, they have 3 players out. If we lose this then this will go down as bad a loss as the clubs had.
Lots need to change in the second half, compose with ball in hand is the most important. We are making so many mistakes under minimal pressure. Clean that up and we run away with this. Don’t or underestimate their desire and we lose. Lyon will have them pushing themselves to beyond their normal limits this second half.

Goodwin needs to find a way to get this team back to 21 when they hunted teams and had an edge to them.

It’s very hard to watch a game when I have my view obscured every 4 seconds by “fans” carrying $800 worth of mid strength beer

Didn't catch the name someone got collected in a marking contest before halftime

Selection of Spargo and Melksham has been much criticized. Both are doing far better than the much-vaunted Kozzie.  It's baffling and frustrating because we all know how dynamic Kozzie can be.

Goodwin put a rocket up picketts [censored] at half time. If we are any sot of side with their injuries we should win by 10 goals.

Then back to the dunny.

Ok, no idea what the [censored] you are on about @Macca I’ve no agenda against Brayshaw, but you have singled me out for some reason. What ever.

I'm simply saying that his good work never gets recognised nor are other players who make the same errors (under pressure) being pointed out

It's just always Brayshaw and never anyone else.  Except for maybe ANB and that's often unfair as well

Both players are in the thick of things and both are often under the hammer when disposing of the ball

Neither player is A grade so they are going to make a few errors.  From my point of view, it's easy to deal with

The bigger issue are the players who aren't getting the ball enough.  Now that is a problem.  Or those who can't kick straight for goal

Brayshaw has had 12 disposals and none of his few errors have led to opposition scores anyway ... anyone would think that he's turned the ball over 12 times given the levels of exaggeration on these threads

  • PREVIEW: St. Kilda

The media has performed a complete reversal in its coverage of the Melbourne Football Club over the past month and a half. Having endured intense criticism from all quarters in the press, which continually identified new avenues for scrutiny of every aspect, both on and off the field, and prematurely speculated about the departures of coaches, players, officials, and various employees from a club that lost its first five matches and appeared out of finals contention, the narrative has suddenly shifted to one of unbridled optimism.  The Demons have won five of their last six matches, positioning themselves just one game (and a considerable amount of percentage) outside the top eight at the halfway mark of the season. They still trail the primary contenders and remain far from assured of a finals berth.

  • REPORT: Sydney

A few weeks ago, I visited a fellow Melbourne Football Club supporter in hospital, and our conversation inevitably shifted from his health diagnosis to the well-being of our football team. Like him, Melbourne had faced challenges in recent months, but an intervention - in his case, surgery, and in the team's case, a change in game style - had brought about much improvement.  The team's professionals had altered its game style from a pedestrian and slow-moving approach, which yielded an average of merely 60 points for five winless games, to a faster and more direct style. This shift led to three consecutive wins and a strong competitive effort in the fourth game, albeit with a tired finish against Hawthorn, a strong premiership contender.  As we discussed our team's recent health improvement, I shared my observations on the changes within the team, including the refreshed style, the introduction of new young talent, such as rising stars Caleb Windsor, Harvey Langford, and Xavier Lindsay, and the rebranding of Kozzy Pickett from a small forward to a midfield machine who can still get among the goals. I also highlighted the dominance of captain Max Gawn in the ruck and the resurgence in form in a big way of midfield superstars Christian Petracca and Clayton Oliver.

  • POSTGAME: Sydney

The Demons controlled the contest from the outset, though inaccurate kicking kept the Swans in the game until half time. But after the break, Melbourne put on the jets and blew Sydney away and the demolition job was complete.
