Kick_It_To_Pickett 3,293 Posted July 9, 2023 Posted July 9, 2023 Sadly Howes looks to have copped a bad injury. Can’t tell if it’s a knee hyperextension or a twisted ankles. Looked higher up the leg to me 2 1 2 Quote
KC from Casey 7,211 Posted July 9, 2023 Posted July 9, 2023 Howes injures himself late in the game - looks like an ankle. Handpass to Tomlinson who gets caught and gives away the free and a goal. Junk time Casey 33 points ahead. 2 1 Quote

Kev 10,926 Posted July 9, 2023 Posted July 9, 2023 Commentators talking about the kids behind the goal. It used to be a regular occurrence at the MCG, city end before the upgrades. A big standing area was a great place for the kids in the 1970's. 7 Quote

Maybe because of a quick turnaround (MFC friday night game), they rested him, just in case he is needed. Though wasn't at his best, and I reckon could do with some more time at VFL level. Doing a lot of playing from behind. Edited July 9, 2023 by kev martin 4 Quote

Diamond_Jim 12,775 Posted July 9, 2023 Posted July 9, 2023 Another Casey conundrum A good win but few stand outs. Liked Verral... he was well beaten but maybe there's something there Laurie and Chandler were disappointing JVR.. just okay Schache... maybe but is he just too good for VFl but..... Tomlinson ?? Campbell for Sandy was the stand out player 2 1 Quote
george_on_the_outer 7,875 Posted July 9, 2023 Posted July 9, 2023 This was Schache's 50th VFL game between the Dogs and us. Should indicate to people why he isn't playing AFL. 5 1 Quote

waynewussell 6,976 Posted July 9, 2023 Posted July 9, 2023 Schache has a few things we need. He is a very good set shot for goal. He is competitive in forward ruck work. He has good foot speed and athleticism for his height. Yes, he is not robust, but he only needs five possessions inside 50 to be 'the missing link', given the loss of Fritta. 4 Quote

Does it really fit that because Petty might be in doubt his potential replacement wouldn’t play at all today? Then if he pulls up ok Tommo would miss a full match play. 1 Quote

old55 23,864 Posted July 9, 2023 Posted July 9, 2023 (edited) Howes ooked like a medial knee injury to me but no certainty. Jefferson took two great contested pack marks and flew well for others. Once he gets some bulk he'll be very good. Verrall was very promising too, rucked against Tom Campbell which was tough, but really followed up well for clearances and tackles. The only thing working against him is we have a balanced defence and an over abundance of running skilful half backs. It’s a good problem to have. I reckon at 90% of other teams Howes would have had a crack at AFL level by now. He started as a winger at Casey before being pushed out to HB. Might get a chance for us here at some point. Maybe not this season though bar injuries. 2 Quote
