It is entirely plausible that if Port lose today we could finish as high as second. They have 3 tough games from here they could definitely lose - Pies, Adelaide and Geelong in Geelong.

Not sure why people are barracking for Port? As Jaded said Port have 3 really tough games, and I like the idea of them being anxious about coming to the G to play.

Agreed.
We realistically cannot finish first. The game and percentage gap between us and Pies is too great.
However if we only lose one more game from here on, and it’s entirely possible with our draw, we can definitely overtake Port on percentage and Lions on points. Especially if we beat the Lions in 2 weeks time.

Finishing second would be the absolute best possible outcome as we stay at the G and avoid Pies.

ANG13 - I am a bit conflicted re tonight's result.

It is looking more and more like 4th is the best we can expect, so having cocky Collingwood at 1 would be way better than Port.  Would far prefer Collingwood at the G than Port over there.

Yep fair enough. Personally if where good enough to finish in the top four and we are playing near our best I don’t think there will be much difference in who we play. All will be tough but all are beatable.

Finishing top 4 is the only goal. We are at risk of slipping out in the coming weeks. I just can’t trust our form at the moment I’d rather port get up tonight.

Port firing up here. Looks like second place is gone for us if they hold on.

Bombers very “lucky” not to be pinged twice in front of Port goal for throw / incorrect disposal

Where the ones who said the club made a mistake getting rid of Weid??

Wasn’t you dazzle! If you were our list manager we’d struggle to field a team.

Terrible results for us today. If we can close out the year strongly, best we can hope for is 3rd or 4th. Looks like we’re off to play either Port in SA or Pies first up. Gonna be tough!

At least you’d know they’d give 100%

  • REPORT: West Coast

On a night of counting, Melbourne captain Max Gawn made sure that his contribution counted. He was at his best and superb in the the ruck from the very start of the election night game against the West Coast Eagles at Optus Stadium, but after watching his dominance of the first quarter and a half of the clash evaporate into nothing as the Eagles booted four goals in the last ten minutes of the opening half, he turned the game on its head, with a ruckman’s masterclass in the second half.  No superlatives would be sufficient to describe the enormity of the skipper’s performance starting with his 47 hit outs, a career-high 35 possessions (22 of them contested), nine clearances, 12 score involvements and, after messing up an attempt or two, finally capping off one of the greatest rucking performances of all time, with a goal of own in the final quarter not long after he delivered a right angled pass into the arms of Daniel Turner who also goaled from a pocket (will we ever know if the pass is what was intended). That was enough to overturn a 12 point deficit after the Eagles scored the first goal of the second half into a 29 point lead at the last break and a winning final quarter (at last) for the Demons who decided not to rest their champion ruckman at the end this time around.

  • GAMEDAY: West Coast

It's Game Day and the Demons have a chance to notch up their third consecutive win — something they haven’t done since Round 5, 2024. But to do it, they’ll need to exorcise the Demons of last year’s disastrous trip out West. Can the Dees continue their momentum, right the wrongs of that fateful clash, and take another step up the ladder on the road to redemption?
