Scoring has really started to dry up as clubs have gone to work on one-another’s game plan and strategies.

Only when we're playing EO

That should’ve been play on. This is so frustrating to watch.

Where does ‘worked out’ come from you swollen [censored]?

Honestly thought the bye rounds were over. Makes tonight even sillier.

Making the need for a Thursday night game at Kardinia Park even more flabergasting.  Or last Thursday for that matter.

Carrot?

Wasn't a direct reference to your comment per se - just an acknowledgement that each club, each week, tries to implement a game plan to counter the alternate club, as they have done for time immemorial, but only if The Demons lose, have we being worked out.

And we drop a spot. Ugh

Yes it sucks to drop a spot.

However, it’s an indictment on us if an Essendon, Dogs or Adelaide knock us out of the top 4.

Its our spot in the top 4 to lose given our reasonable run home in August.

Well it appeared as direct reference to my thoughts.

That’s a pretty intense observation. Are you sure?

Ashcroft does. Clearly.

Ladder wise a good result for us given last night's debacle

Unfortunately a Freo win tomorrow is now best not to mention Pies over Adelaide

Yeah... life ain't great

I know it seems knee jerk, but I’ve actually been observing it over a 3-4 month period and my analysis really stacks up.

This may sound sacriligeous but I want Freo to beat Ess this week and WBD next week to give us a one game break into the top 4.  They are the two main contenders for 4th and both have a very easy run home.

The draft picks pale in significance with a spot in the top 4 @ EOS, on the line.

Too bad Stef Martin in no longer at the club..

Ashcroft and Martin - regrow your own hair!

I know people want freo to lose but gee I hope they beat the bummers tonight. It would me me ill if they were on the same points as us.

Agreed.

Absolutely no benefit in Essendon winning tonight with respect to our top 4 aspirations.

It’s not sacrilegious. It’s just common sense.

  • REPORT: Essendon

What were they thinking? I mean by “they” the coaching panel and team selectors who chose the team to play against an opponent who, like Melbourne, had made a poor start to the season and who they appeared perfectly capable of beating in what was possibly the last chance to turn the season around. It’s no secret that the Demons’ forward line is totally dysfunctional, having opened the season barely able to average sixty points per game which means there has been no semblance of any system from the team going forward into attack. Nevertheless, on Saturday night at the Adelaide Oval in one of the Gather Round showcase games, Melbourne, with Max Gawn dominating the hit outs against a depleted Essendon ruck resulting from Nick Bryan’s early exit, finished just ahead in clearances won and found itself inside the 50 metre arc 51 times to 43. The end result was a final score that had the Bombers winning 15.6 (96) to 8.9 (57). On balance, one could expect this to result in a two or three goal win, but in this case, it translated into a six and a half goal defeat because they only managed to convert eight times or 11.68% of their entries. The Bombers more than doubled that. On Thursday night at the same ground, the losing team Adelaide managed to score 100 points from almost the same number of times inside 50.

  • POSTGAME: Essendon

Despite a spirited third quarter surge, the Demons have slumped to their worst start to a season since 2012, remaining winless and second last on the ladder after a 39-point defeat to Essendon at Adelaide Oval in Gather Round.

  • GAMEDAY: Essendon

It’s Game Day, and the Demons are staring down the barrel of an 0-5 start for the first time since 2012 as they take on Essendon at Adelaide Oval for Gather Round. In that forgettable season, Melbourne finally broke their drought by toppling the Bombers. Can lightning strike twice? Will the Dees turn their nightmare start around and breathe life back into 2025?
